It is good to understand. It means igbos in Sierra Leone. I know u wud ask how come? Igbos again.

They are d slaves taken to USA. After slavery was abolished, they were taking to Sierra Leone but the slaves decided to remain there and not return but still kept their original identity. I had a class mate back then and he confirmed it.

For the records even a part of Congo speaks igbo. Had a neighbour who told me this on hearing my name. Though the spelling was different. But he told me there were people who spoke igbo language in his country.
i guess it s congo dr

Its not a ploy.

All I'm trying to say, we have a tribe, an ethnic group call Ukwauni...

The language is 90% related to igbo, but we share same culture as the Itsekiris, Urhobos and the Isokos.

We are a minority group in Nigeria, but a majority in Delta state because lots of people (about 7million) speak the language.

So please, we prefer to be called what we are.

"The
one spoken by the majority of the people
which is regarded the standard dialect is the
Utagba dialect. It is easily understood by the
speaker of the other dialects and it is the
dialect that is used for Ukwuani language
studies. Ukwuani language is also included in
the list of 27 Nigerian languages approved by
the Federal Government for the purpose of
"mother tongue education". The Ukwuani
culture is related to several culture in the
Niger-delta but have more social and cultural
affinities to the Igbo speaking people of
Nigeria".

He said he was Igbo dear. Not Igbo speaking from Ukwuani or from the Ukwuani tribe.

2) HRH Obi Onyeike Efeizomor.

Baby attempts at corrupting an Igbo name such that it looks non-Igboid, however pronunciation, just like the winter breeze, still exposes the rump of the fowl.

Ikechukwu Nkeagboekwuzi is a full Igbo name. However, Efeizomor is clearly of foreign origin, in accordance with the tale of bini migrants who settled in Ika land. Majority of Ikas are of Igbo origin who the few bini migrants met on arriving in Ika. Do not twist history around to claim all Ikas are from Bini, for else the Bini language should have been spoken here and there.

Also, it baffles me when certain Igbo groups speak an Igbo dialect of >98% Igbo words, and with just a few borrowed words from another language, turn around and claim they come from the language territory that accounts for less than 1% of their vocabulary. English is a well-known language of borrowing french, latin, spanish etc words. Does that suddenly mean it is no longer English but those languages?

Weird human thinking.

Your ancestors told the colonials they were "Ibos" as early as 1920s but you will have us believe that you are no longer "ibos" from 1970.

You would have all recorded history destroyed and rendered void.

You will make up ridiculous stories of your original name being Iwhuruohna and that Ndiigbo were the ones who caused your name to become Ikwerre because according to your fabricated stories, the Igbo interpreter was asking the Ikwerres if they agreed to the terms and conditions of the white men, upon which they said "Ekwerellam" and from hence forth you lots became known as Ikwerre.

You fabricate stories of Bini migration. You lots are a disgrace.

I only engage in Ikwerre arguments these days because of proud Igbo men amongst you lots like Uche Okwukwu.

Uche Okwukwu is a persona non grata.

That useless posturing of his is the sole reason he has never won any election he ever contested as pro-Ikwerres will never vote for someone that doesn't know where he is coming from.

Please do not include Ikwerres in Igboid whatever. We are very comfortable as Ikwerres and do not need any unnecessary association.

Olukumis are not Igbo. They are subgroup of Yoruba that migrated to Aniocha area. They were allowed in and given a land to grow though. Albeit, they now speak igbo and rarely any Yoruba And majority of their ppl classified themselves as Igbo. They were never Igbo people to begin with, they just adapted and switched to fit in the groups around them. Currently, the few of their ppl who still know their history and background are trying desperately to bring back a sense of pride to the Olukumis so they can start claiming their real ethnicity, sadly, it's not working.
The igbo they speak is the ones they learned from igbo groups around them.

Igbo Language and The Christian Worship

Union Igbo was an Igbo dialect formed during the journey to come up with a centralized Igbo dialect. An Igbo bible was written in the dialect then, but not widely understood by all dialects. The Igbo bible has been written in Onitsha, Owerri, Isuama, Union Igbo dialects etc. Until the introduction of Igbo Izugbe, which is the standard Igbo orthography which the modern Igbo bible now goes by, which you would see in bibles found in churches and homes in Igboland. Jehovah Witness articles are also written in Igbo Izugbe.

Here's an e-version of the Igbo bible in Igbo Izugbe:

You Ibos always aint contempt with yourselves. It is not negotiable, we have no affiliation with you guys just as the Ikwerres of Rivers. Can't you respect one's Independence? How difficult is that?

I initially thought the Yorubas and Hausa's were been sentimental, now I know that are 100% right.

We have no roots with you guys. Period. Come to Agbor or Owa (Boji Boji) the only Ibos you see are the one's that came for trade as obtainable elsewhere in Nigeria.

My summary: Mind your own business, do not claim what is not yours. If you need detailed History of Agbor, Go to Ika National Library in Agbor, COE Agbor, Delsu Abraka and Uniben. Stop talking what you assume.

Comment from this guy months ago

John Odigie Oyegun massively stole Edo peoples' money within the short opportunity he had.

Ask me how I know? I was born and brought up in Benin There wasn't PDP or APC then so don't conclude I'm taking sides.

Notice the discrepancy. When this wannabe ' s attaché by force they forget they already given another form of story before.

Mr Man you are talking pure and undiluted rubbish. The Ika's which I am proudly one, have no affiliation with the Ibos. Matter of Fact, our mom's hardly approve of marriages to you people.

We have an independent king, HRH Benjamin Kiagborekuzi (Agbor) and HRH Efeizomor for the Owa Kingdom.

I am well versed in my culture and I can tell you our only external affiliation is with the Oba of Benin, Omo n'Oba N'Edo, Oba Erediawa.

So all you are saying is fallacy.

Its your own Ika Diffrent from mine, bros
According to my personal research and my parent who were able to enlighten me on our history,
i must tell you am proudly Igbo,
dont get me wrong that is the simple truth and only that truth can set you free, its high time we recognise our root,
Proudly Igbo.

Pls does Ukwuani language have a written one different from Igbo?

No. We use the same vowels and consonant in writing.

Just a bit different in pronunciation and spell.

Some igbos spell imili (water) we say imiri.

They say olisa (God) we say Orise or Olise.

But we are 95% related in writing but a few difference in culture.

We share a niger-delta food and dressing, which is way far different from the main igbos.
