President Barack Obama of the United State of America (USA) has approved the disbursement of $35 million in military and defence support services to France as part of Washington’s contribution to the war against the terror group, Boko Haram.

The White House said the aid is on account of the Paris active support for Nigeria’s French speaking neighbours—Niger and Chad—in their fight against Boko Haram insurgents as well as Mali, which is battling Islamic extremism.

The three French-speaking have been in the forefront of the war against Islamic terrorism.

No reference was made to Nigeria, which is the worst hit by Boko Haram’s terrorist assaults.

The outgoing Jonathan administration has not enjoyed the best of relations with President Obama over the Nigerian leader’s initial questionable response of the US to the Boko Haram menace.

Agency report yesterday said a US government official simply reaffirmed that the $35 million funding was in support of French operations, which are not taking place in Nigeria.

Some diplomats expect that once President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, assumes office on May 29, the White House will announce some new initiatives to support the overall fight against terror groups in Nigeria.
Recently at Time magazine’s 100 influential people gala in New York City, top US government officials, including Samantha Powers, promised that the US would do more to support the search for the Chibok girls and the fight against Boko Haram in Nigeria.

Titled “Delegation of Authority Under Section 506(a)(1) of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961,” the White House statement noted that President Obama had authorised Secretary of State John Kerry to facilitate the US assistance to Mali, Niger and Chad, significantly omitting Nigeria, where terror groups had captured significant territories and killed thousands of people in suicide attacks and military operations.

In the White House statement, President Obama delegated to the Secretary of State “the authority under section 506(a)(1) of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 to direct the drawdown of up to $35 million in defense services of the Department of Defense to provide assistance to France in its efforts to secure Mali, Niger, and Chad from terrorists and violent extremists and to make the determinations required under such section to direct such a drawdown.”

US-Nigeria relationship on Boko Haram has been rocky, leading the Nigerian Ambassador to the US openly stating the American government had not given Nigeria the needed support especially in the area of weapons.

The US government refused to sell US-made Cobra fighter-helicopters to Nigeria.

It was gathered that even when Nigeria decided to purchase the helicopters from Israel, Washington declined to give its consent for the deal to sail through.

Under the terms of US-Israeli ties, the Israeli government
cannot transfer the military helicopters to a third country unless the US government okayed the transaction.

A US military training of a unit of the Nigerian military was also abruptly ended late last year as the Americans said Nigeria asked for the training to stop.

This might not be unconnected to our highly corrupt military. Even though it makes little sense to exclude Nigeria from the assistance, am sure the US wanted to avoid a situation where the fund will be sit upon by our so called military heads who has been benefiting illegally without hindrance under GEJ reign.
However, anything that will flush BH out completely is welcome.

When will this Boko-Haram plague be completely wiped out from this country and others?
I am sick and tired of these hide-and-seek games. The muslims - which are no doubt the Boko-Harams - should surrender in unison to the government to end all these ish of insurgents for once. Game`s over! The moment of truth has come!

I don't even know why we expect the US to give us money/aid.
We have enough money in this country but corruption, greed and misplacement of priorities have not allow us to put it to good use.
No country would want to give aid to a nation that cannot manage her own resources well.
In fact, if we can get our acts together, we will not even need aid from anybody.

There is lot of dirty and evil people to be exposed after May 29th... I believe Obama knows that the government has a hand in bokoharam that why they refuse to sell them weapon and offer Nigeria help... BOKOHARAM was only a fraud if not when have the Nigerian army anounced that they've caught one Nigerian among them? Although aimed at distroying and reducing the population of the north using religion as a cover up, they capture town and villages loot them including the banks and properties for their own personal use in chaD... I also believe that had it been the news of this chibok girls broke out mistakenly GEJ would have kept Silent about it just like bunch of other cases of women and girls Kidnap, But to GEJ's biggest surprise his plans didn't work it fail and fail and fail and continue to fail till he lost the election... My biggest wish is to see buhari invest in oil exploration in the North east because Chad have already started enjoying our Desert oil which is more expensive and valuable then he can now call everybody and tell them that who so ever wants to leave should go and form their country but my believe is that once oil is confirmed in the North the SS and SW will stick to one Nigeria then the south east can now carry all their crime causing citizens back to their Biafra and do what they like without anybody giving a F*CK!!!

- Chad entering Nigeria territory to fight terrorist without consulting our President
- SA making a public shame of our foreign/defence ministry by seizing our money meant for purchasing weapons
- SA refuse to acknowledge the "big brother" role Nigeria played in the fight against apartheid in SA rather, they recognize countries like UK and Ghana
- now, US govt don't even give credit to Nigeria's ongoing effort against BH

Dear Lord, I was born into a great Nation!!! May my eyes see the rise of that once great Nation within the next 4years; and may my children experience a very great Nigeria where Europeans and Americans will struggle to get our VISA and permanent resident card in Jesus name, Amen

Right! Our military is corrupted as the NNPC, so there's really no reason to give them any fund for now

This has nothing to do with the military. US has been critical of Goodluck from the moment he signed off on the anti ga.y law. America is trying to introduce a help through the backdoor knowing that BH success in Nigeria will affect most other African states.

Upon their puppet taking over, they will then throw their massive support in favour. They are disappointed that Goodluck was not overwhelmed by BH.

Meanwhile shame on US and the Kenyan in the person of Obama
