The Yoruba nation is more than 21 million people. Lagos alone has a population of 18 million people, which the Yoruba constitute more than 70% of the population. Are you saying Yoruba in Benin Republic,Togo and Diaspora are less than 5 million? Actually, the Yoruba nation is more than 60 million people.

In total yoruba people globally are close to 150million when you add Cuba Brazil caribeans

There's absolutely nothing spectacular about the Yorubas except the fact that they're chest beaters who lost their land to fulani herdsmen and are slaves to the northerners.

AreaFada2:

1. According to Yoruba mythology, all Yoruba people are descendants of Odua or Oduduwa. And today, there are over fifty individuals who claim kinship as descendants of Odua/Oduduwa.

This very first one is problematic.
Ododuwa cannot possibly be the progenitor of all Yoruba people. As convenient and fraternity-promoting as it might seem, it cannot be true.

Oduduwa lived less than 1000 years ago. Yoruba people have lived in SW 9ja for thousands of years. Whether they called themselves different names depending on local identity or not.

Odua brought a better integration and a slightly more centralised system through his sons that founded many dynasties or replaced existing local ones. Even then, most of those Kingdoms only nominally felt under Ife influence.

I descend from a ruling house that claims Odua as progenitor by the way.

A king is the father of the people.
Oduduwa is the father of the Yorubas

You are welcome back from your incurable stupidity and unrefined idiocy which is in your DNA as evident in your progenitors who were not only brutalised, maimed and killed by the same Hausas/Fulanis who are your masters since Independence and continue to be your masters as long as they want. Remember, in real world except video games, you don't form an opposition against your Masters but that is exactly what Yoruba political elites and as a Nation has been doing over the years until we decided in 2015 to show you how to play the game without being ridiculed.

They-Hausas/Fulanis (mere school certificate holders) deputised your well educated progenitors in person of Nnamdi Azikiwe(as clueless as Badluck Jonathan) and of course one of the most useless and worthless VP of his time in Africa if not the whole world; Alex Ekwueme in what I called political show of shame.

get your history well, yoruba has been existing before oduduwa came.

Really shows he was banished, yet his son lineage still rules benin up till date#Figure that!

Don't just come here to spread distorted history,I've got love for any benin man!

You obviously missed it. Fine, there were people already in the west before Oodua came but they were more or less not organised. Simply put, they were bush men. But the emergence of Oodua brought political organisation to the Yoruba race as is evident that his children conquered other regions and ruled over them.

.....and yes, Oranmiyan was Oodua's son but since Oodua is from Benin, its same as saying an Edo son is ruling her people. The story of the Yorubas is similar to that of Lagos. The ancestor of the traditional rulers in Yoruba land is from Edo state. ( in person of Oodua)

the Edos rule Lagos. The ancestors of the traditional rulers in Lagos are Edo sons and do pay tribute to the Oba of Benin up to this day e.g Oba of Lagos

Anyway i repeat again, the only thing the Yorubas have over any region from the south is population, e nor pass like that. Their hatred for other tribes apart from their Northern masters is appalling to say the least.

[quote author=calebo101 post=33571930][b]Na just population Yoruba get...... They are so tribalistic and obviously like to think of themselves as sophisticated but then they share that opinion among themselves only. For now they can stand firm with their Northern masters but when push comes to shove they will discover they're standing alone. The Yoruba's should be grateful to Fayose for standing his ground and not allowing them all to be sold to slavery entirely.

The 3 top public figures representing Yorubas---- Obasanjo, Tinubu and Oba Akiolu... While Tinubu is corruption personified and Oba Akiolu has a leaking mouth... Obasanjo is corrupt, has a leaking mouth and has destroyed his own family with his incestuous nature. How can a man sleep with his Son's wife

Guy, you are hating so much and you are still talking about a tribe hating another....this one wey you dey display na love?!

You said the 3 prominent yoruba leaders are BAT, OBJ, and the Oba.....though not true but I wish we could mention anybody from wherever you come from.

And you are so eager to call the yorubas slaves, what makes you think so?! That the Yorubas understand how to get something out of whatever situation, and how not to lay all eggs in one basket doesn't not make us slaves to anybody.......i want to assume you are from the East, now slavery is when they take something from your backyard and squander it in another man's compound while you remain powerless to either stop the taker or secure your yard....hope you get my drift.

Bunch of hogwash, that's the problem, when you learned and not educated. Is evident enough you've been brainwashed with distorted news channel which I term as beer parlor gist.

If you a yoruba man you will understand to understand ifa, know ifa oracle is beyond a bush man,a bush man won't interpret what ifa oracle is saying and implement it to his environs.

You right about him organizing the polity of the people.

Don't give me hoax about lagos kingship bro!

Bottomline is: africans history is disorganized with so many biased view, since our historians and archaeologist are too lazy too research, we will only battle with junk history produced by the kings of both kingdom, they only tell their people history to favor them which won't make us get to the root of the matter, both yoruba and benin will give you bullshit story to stroke their egos.

So no need overflogging this matter sir, Have a nice time.

Well if you check it, yorubas don't make much sense.

And u make the sense or your ethnic??

There's no point for this hatred, it just keep us in some kind of bondage without peace because of the psychological trauma that accompanied it.

Every language and ethnic is created by God perfectly with her respective strength and weakness as measured by her creator. Why should u abuse what u cannot create.

It a form of genocide if u ask me.

My dear, all the presidents Hausa/Fulani have produced since, of what use have they been to even Almajiri in the North that provided a large of pool of hopeless youth Boko recruits from?

How many Hausa/Fulani leaders have biult 12 universities & nearly 300 schools in the North?

Does it not occur to you that the reason tribe is still mentioned in politics is because all the leaders of whichever tribe have failed?

That being in Aso Rock is equated with getting your hands on national cake. And the masses all over Nigeria hardly get any of it.

Would anyone care about tribe/religion if there's infrastructure, light, good healthcare, decent education system, low poverty, security, jobs, prudent and accountable politicians and a booming economy that benefits the vast majority?
