most people here don't know what they are saying, they are just making comments for commenting sake. if u want to buy a real quality memory card. make sure its not cheap, download h2testw on Ur laptop. that programme will test Ur card by writing data on it and reading it. then it will display the result of the test by displaying the speed of the card, the true capacity and how long its likely to last. am talking from experience.

just be sure to see a symbol like ''10'' inside a circle on the card, that means its a class 10, class 10 are great memory card

I will advice that which ever make you buy, buy from slot...trusted and reliable. I have bought many SD cards and had issues with them in the past. But the ones I bought at Slot are still working... from experience

But how can one do all this when you haven't bought the card... or you expect the seller to allow you take it home and do all that then you come back after satisfying your curiosity to pay afterwards? The op is asking for a firsthand clues and cues on how to spot the fake from original.

well, to get an original mcard, purchase the one in a sealed pack. I mean, tightly sealed... go for sandisk, Sony, transcend, LG or Samsung products.



REMEMBER: it should be in a sealed pack. and it must have a barcode reading on its pack.

It depends on the quality of the SD card, not the size. I've been using my 32 gb sd card for the past two years and it's still working fine.

I used mine for 3 and half years before it died on me bro. the next one I got died just 3 weeks of usage. the amount of years you spent on it aint the issue, u can buy SD now and it dies the next few hours. it all depends on the type of stress and temperature it is been used.
SDs are one of the most fragile piece of art they developed, when the big sizes (16gb and above) die, no amount of prayer can wake them up. I still have a chinese made 2GB sd card since 2006 dat still works like new. The more size your SD card is, the less stress it could take.

Never buy memory card from ppl dat hawk even in computer village. I've two advance 32gig i used on my separate phone which are class 10. I bought mine in a reputable store which goes for #2,400 and i've been using dem for d past 6 months.
