Peeps, I want to know if the study materials from "selfstudy360@gmail.com" are still the most recent as I plan to write the GRE and Toefl again. While some schools said my 4.0 GPA from my school in Illinois- alongside other supporting documents of course-, would be suffice for a PhD admission, others like MIT, Berkley and Princeton, although with fantastic packages, blithely alluded to the fact that having a good Gre score would stand me in good stead with respect to admission decision. Also, I would be more than happy to know if there are other materials I could use in lieu of the ones in the above-referenced email.
Thanks!

Wow.... I came late. But it's rather late than never.
I welcome everyone to this perfection part of this thread.

Became a follower of this thread from part 6 last year and I followed every damn post. I read this thread as if it was my life. I read so hard, worked on every advise posted here and prayed so hard. And by the grace of God that part never pass me by without giving me my visa testimony.

I started reading from the first 100 pages and my testimony came on the 3rd 100 pages. Thanks to every contributor on the thread.

For everyone expecting their visa, by the grace of God this part will not go by without having your testimony in it. Just believe, pray and work towards your dream to Obama land.

It is well with our souls. #thumbs up#

Please Guys with experience Kindly advice,
Below is my my post on the other thread about my first Experience.

Kindly advice on what next to expect, without Doubt i know it's all in God's hands and by His Grace i would sail through.
But if there is someone with such an experience or similar situation in the past (Or know of someone with same), please share and let's hear how they resolved it.

Hi V. O,

I see you have done so much work advising people on this thread. Thanks for your time and advice.
I am a prospective Msc student (Who's been offered a tuition waiver i.e Graduate assitantship). I was denied yesterday,
(the Consulate officer never asked for my I-20 or Knew i was on scholarship) she only asked.

What sch : I answered,

Let me have you Dad's Bank statement: I presented the GT bank statement since i am on scholarship.

She went through it, next thing was she offered me A sheet (Denied under Section 214(b).

I was dumbfounded. (Well i take some blame not going with My Dad's other bank statements/ His Company Documents and other documents. I felt one bank statement would do since i'm on scholarship.)

I have reapplied again and booked for another Interview in a week time.

Kindly advice. Would i have been wrong to have told her i'm on scholarship, since she did not ask?
On my Next interview is it pertinent i make mention of it to the Consulate officer?

Thanks.

Is the Remark of the scholarship/ tuition waiver not written on the No9.section of your i20?..The VO should have seen that..The VO looks at correlation of every info on an i20 with the one filled online on your DS160..
My Observation
The VO only asked you "which school" and bank statement" MAYBE its either the school isnt a reputable one OR you werent audible during the interview, OR there was a contradiction on the information provided, OR The VO wasn't just in a good mood that time...

Since you've booked for another interview, I'll just tell to work on your lapses, pray hard , go with every necessary documents,...B.T.W, weren't you given a letter indicating the scholarship stuff by the school?..

Go to wes.org,..click on "for student" create an account, fill the info as appropriate, choose ICAP(recommended by most WES-required schools), pay the fee...A reference number will be given...

Get your transcript to be sent by your institution via regular mail or courier AND you send the photocopy of your own certificate to WES yourself

NB. When going to your school for your transcript, make sure you print and fill with pen the "Academic record request form "on WES portal at www.wes.org/required/index.asp?lctryid=119 , which will be authorized by transcript issuing officer and sent alongside your transcript to WES

Why didn't you tell her your dad isn't your sponsor and that you're fully funded?

'Oh ma'am my dad isn't my sponsor the university is. I'm going on a full scholarship as indicated on my i20' simple.

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by Nobody: 11:46am On May 15, 2015
Thanks Guys,

God bless you Greatly, I think she did not hear me or maybe i was not audible since there was a demarcation like most banks.

Bellow are the Details.

Expenses AY 15-16
Instructional Fees (tuition) $8,188
Non-resident Surcharge $7,992
General Fees $1,256
Network Fees $66
Living* (10 Months) $11,500
Ohio University Health Insurance $1,800
Total $30,802***

I got a Grad Assitantship of

The Graduate College received notification from Info and Telecom Systems program that you were offered a Graduate Assistantship estimated at $15418. Please review Expenses for International Students http://www.ohio.edu/graduate/tuition.cfm You will need to provide the documents outlined below showing the remaining $15384 ($30,802 less $15418 the amount of the offer).

Hence i went with Dad's personal bank Statement with 2.8 mill. (Since i had a Tuition waiver) and not the Biz account (Although still opened with his name) which has about 7 time the amount in the personal account.

Actually, she did not request my I-20 as it was with me all through. And i was blown out (maybe because she just Rejected the person before me.) Still wondering.

@ ebdib,

Dad was still my sponsor since i was not getting full funding. So i was to provide proof of extra funding.

@ ridimic1

The name of the School is listed on the Health Insurance cost.

@ profojah

It was well listed and clearly stated. I just got a mail from which i pasted the part in Italics above, i printed the mail as well.

The problem is, i actually did not understand what was going on, until she issued me the 214(b) letter. I was expecting more questions, so i can explain and point out. But she Just looked at the bank statement and gave me the Document.

Thanks Guys for your Contributions and advice. I would work on my voice and presentation on the next one.

@ Profjah

Thanks, i guess she did not hear me well or there was some misinterpretation (She even asked me my Dad's occupation i told her but she did not hear or seem to understand the profession i mentioned), even my I-20 states Family as My sponsor.

Before i forget the I-20 stated on the Part 9 (Remarks) That "student should arrive with $2000 for initial cost," (Heaven knows this was actually the reason i went with the personal bank statement)

@wizzy11

Just pray and reapply.
Some of these docs are uploaded on your sevis database

That how she knows your dad is the sponsor.
But you for talk sha. At least that way you'll know she knows you have some funding.
It is well.
Godspeed

Hey guys, here's my story.
Made a 3rd class in my undergrad, studied chemistry. A travel agent I called told me it'll be best I do a fresh undergrad course relating to chemistry, he's suggesting nursing in Tacoma Community college.
He said veering for a postgrad would raise an eyebrow as to why I didn't just do it in Naija, where its cheaper.

I don't mind a 2nd degree, but I wouldhv preferred houston or los angeles, but I'm a novice in this.

Gurus, please help a newbie answer all the questions in my head:
1) Can't I get a visa friendly school to do a post grad?
2) Are there affordable visa friendly schools in houston and los angeles?
3) What will the embassy and the schools be requiring from me?
4) The travel agent said I can still travel this year, is that possible?
5) I'm new to these, what do I need to know/do to have a hitch-free application and acceptance?

Thanks in anticipation

This got my attention. Yea, it's possible because it's just travel agents marketing term.

Question is, what does a travel agent know about schooling in U.S?

travelling agents !!!! Helping US embassy since 1970.
The rate of ban and denial are as a result of travelling agent. Some people don't even know they have got a ban, this same travel agent keep collecting money from them every now and then

Wizzy, you will get Your visa next week. You know what just pray. Involve God.
Secondly, VO are not God, ask question and speak audible. She didn't check your i20 and just gave u denial letter, she obviously and will never know your are on scholarship if she doesn't check your i20. She found 2million and felt that was too low. You should have told her instantly before collect the 214b that you are on funding and you only need few cash to go.
Be prepare next week, be audible and state the reason for your denial in your new ds 160. Let the new VO know that you are on funding and it was never mentioned in your last interview. I see you getting the visa. Come back here next week
