Its not the first.

Is it not what Mobile Money is about?

Fortis has a mobile money licence. *540# to register or perform transaction from phones that are not internet enabled.
First Bank does. *894#to register or perform transaction from phones that are not internet enabled.
Stanbic IBTC does
And there is Paga.
undecided

First doest work And even first monies app is outdated.

bros ,there are no security requirements according to those who have used it . Ur phone number ,card number ,and recipient acc number. If there are any other security measures let us know. You and I know bank details and atm numbers of bank customers are always compromised ,that is why hackers and fraudsters have been able to use nigerian bank customers atm numbers plus Security abroad . So the issue of last 4digit is not enough .

That is because your mobile money account can be linked to your Bank account.

FortisMFB customers have their NUBAN accounts linked to their Mobile money accounts so it also impacts on their Bank account.

Only people without bank accounts will have to use Only their wallets and their daily limit is 1 Million naira on the fullest KYC.

I believe it is the same with First Money and Stanbic Money as well.

So, It's not the first of its kind.

Read what they did very well. It is a transfer between 2 NUBAN accounts within GTB and has nothing to do with Mobile Money.

Let me explain to you.

If u have an account 0000000000 with gtb, u can transfer to another account 11111111111 with gtb by dialling that number and note that the instruction is once unlike others that u login , select a menu etc.

This attempt is commendable and it is first in the industry. No card linking , no mobile money linking . It is a 10digit nuban account to another 10digits nuban account.

Good product, but is the use of password now out-dated? A person will just pick up your phone and make a transfer. That is clumsy.

For those doubting this service, don't forget GTBANK already has mobile money service which works the same way as the other banks listed here. This new service is a different one.

And for those questioning it's security. At least try it before making baseless conclusions. You are prompted to enter the last 4 digits of your debit card followed by your pin before successful transaction.

Gt will continue to be the best bank in nigeria/ africa...so easy and stress-free to pay with their mastercard abroad...even the foreigners know this..can rmber a sales rep. asked me while paying for my items in Dubai after shopping if GT is d only bank in nigeria cos everyone from Nigeria pays with d orange card (that's their master card). I just love Gt bank with a passion and pray they always maintain d standard they've set for themselves

noone is making baseless conclusions, and I can bet u many gtb customers will lose money to hackers very soon . Asking for the last 4digit of customer atm card isn't enough ,there should be a special pin code created by the customer or the bank which only the customer will know. Then it will be secure. Just wait and see what will happen within the next 2 months. You seem to have forgotten that ppl clone atm cards with full card bank details in nigeria

yes ,how do ppl withdraw money from other ppls accounts then on atms ? Even in this scenario they don't even need to clone the card all they need is the atm card number ,the sim card cloning is the easiest . And also a point of correct ,it is the phone number that is linked to the bank account and not the mobile phone . Once the bank system receives information from that number and the sender gets the 4digits “easiest of all” the customer money is gone . I am not discrediting gtb ,I am only pointing out flaws and ways by which bad ppl can cause havoc to ppl financial accounts . A special pin verification system should be developed ,which the account holder should create ,remember and use each time ,so that if someone phone and wallet containing his gtb card is stolen ,the theif still won't be able to use it if he doesn't know the pin created by the account holder.

Re: Gtbank Launches Mobile Phone Money Transfer - First Of Its Kind! by Yiwawo11: 3:37pm On May 17, 2015
it is not first of it's kind because first bank and zenith bank are doing it more than a year ago.
Re: Gtbank Launches Mobile Phone Money Transfer - First Of Its Kind! by omogidi234(m): 3:38pm On May 17, 2015
I don't think that is first time that innovation was being used. I have received money from a client who sit down beside me and fiddles with his phones and in less than 5 minutes I have received alert from his Bank Zenith to my own GTB. These happened from December 2014 till date.

Thanks.

UBA AS STARTED USING USSD SINCE LAST YEAR SIR...WALK INTO ANY BRANCH FOR CLARIFICATION

With GTB you don't need to "walk" into your bank. You do it at home. Why can't you guys spot the difference between what GTB is offering at others?

How will you prove to GTB that you were not the one that initiated and completed the transaction? Your friend that stole your phone or borrowed it for 3 minutes while you were busy will return it to you and delete the mail and SMS

Guys I have found a secure way to go around this issue. I have scratched and defaced the last 4 digits of my ATM. It is now my secure code.
