Nothing productive to add again, silent reader here too.

No fresh info, everyone waiting for everyone to recycle doctors and hospitals.
Please let's all start researching so that we can contribute meaningfully.

I am even suspecting that some people are no longer sharing meaningful information out of fear of misuse and overuse.

If you intend coming with your GTbank card, when you arrive US, open a U.S. Bank account, I would recommend Bank of America or anyone closer to you. You can go to either Walmart or Kroger if they have western union, I know Walgreens usually have western union stand too, request for a money order (maximum is $1000) they would charge 79cent per money order which is not upto 100 naira as against the N400 charges with ATM per withdrawal. Then you an take to your bank and deposit it or exchange for cash.

You can as well visit Fidelity bank for BTA, they have very good exchange rate. You can visit any branch closer to you.

Hey, thanks! but please take it easy with Neffy o wink

My sister used the same place and it is so nice. Very trek-able and close to Walmart and all other stores. Pm me if you need info.

It seems I have missed a lot by not reading the thread as frequently as I used to! What happened to the love and warmth on this thread?

@ Nerf I think you should have apologized to Eatwell, afterall he was only trying to help out.

@Eeatwell no vex! Thanks for being such a gentleman, I learnt some new things from your post.

@SimiJ I didn't get to read your deleted posts but from one woman to another I beg you apologize to Nerf make she no report you to God.

I know what it is to lose a child and trust me it's a touchy subject. I don't pray for anyone to experience it.

We are all parents and parents to be, we should see ourselves as role models and start acting the part.

I wish everyone safe and fruitful delivery in Jesus name. Amen.

My story at last, i v bin a quiet silent follower n only ask questions wen necessary.

Phew! Chicago @ last...got in 2days ago.
Flew Emirates and the flights were all on time even the connecting flight. All went well straight from MMA- Dubai down to ORD. That's wer the wahala started.

We arrived O'Hare airport at about past 3pm and it seems most flights just landed so the queue was much. Fortunately, one of the officials saw my condition and moved me forward.

CBP 1: Hello, y r u here again; I can c u were here in january
Me: 4 vacation n 2v my baby
CBP1: oh, u pregnant....okay place ur fingers here etc
U v 2go 4secondary inspection. Do u v foodstuffs as well?
Me: yes

He then took me to an office; he introduced me to d people n we all cracked jokes. One of the ladies even gave me her name for my baby. He said due to my condition, they should be fast as the room was crowded.

Less Dan 20mins, a kill joy lady just came in and called me out to follow her to her office

Cbp2: y do u people keep doing this? I m pissed, upset...can't u v ur baby in ur country....don't u v doctors, do u v a letter that says the procedure can not be done by your doctor in nigeria or y don't u go to UK? It's closer to u. She just went on & on shouting

Me: I was here in January and felt I should come again for better medicals etc
Cbp: shut up, don't bullshit me. U all say same thing. Well u do not meet criteria 2v ur baby here...she den brought out a white form wit requirements for medical visa
Me: I neva applied for medical visa, I applied for touist visa last yr n I v used it. This is my 2nd tym an d the embassy is aware etc (I gave her d email correspondence ).
She asked for my hospital /doc s correspondences, b4 I could say jack...she snatched d envelope and emptied the content on the table. Thank God I only had my proof of burden in it.

This went on for lik an hr and she was busy screaming and shouting...A colleague of hers came in and mentioned she had same issue but she's definitely sending d fellow home but d cbp attending to me said ......oh she wished she could do such......There n den I knew the battle has been won.

She den requested for my phone (i remember a lady once had issues with dis same POE, so before I left naija while on d plane, I deleted my yahoo mail, cleared browsing history and chats relating to this baby venture both on BBM n whatsapp). She used over 30 mins on the phone again, handed over to another colleague, she made different accusations but deep down I was calm cos I knw I v done nothing wrong or contradictive.

Her bone of contention? How can hospital bill cost so less while they pay so much....is it cos I m black or from nigeria or cos I m paying cash? I tried explaining to her that once u r self pay, u get a discount etc she hushed me up.

She chased me out more Dan 2tyms sef. Na so I kuku ma adjust my hand luggage con doze off since I knw the battle is of the Lord's and won already.

Fortunately, her superior came in and wen he checked my stuffs on her table; the 1st tin he saw was my budget sheet stating estimate of $8000 for normal delivery and $10000 for cs. He showed it to her and said it's stated here already but she was adamant so he asked lik 4 relevant questions:

Cbp3: how much cash do u v right now
Me: $8000
Cbp3; do u v credit n debit cards
Me: yes I do
Cbp3: how much can be charged to both cards in dollars
Me: $3000 on d credit & $3000 on the 2 other debit cards
Cbp3: looked at me n d other lady and said there should be no problem

In my mind, I was lik wer was dis man all along.

She later told me to go out. After 20mins, she called me back and told me to pack my stuffs n leave. I opened my passport n saw she stamped me in already 6 months. I murmured thank u and apologise for what ever is upsetting her. She answered: it's not u cos I don't knw u from adam, rather it's the system.

Anyway, I spent 3hrs all in all there.

My bags have already been moved from the casserole and placed on trolley for me. I moved to agricultural cos I declared food but it was not searched. I was asked to go.

I want to use this opportunity 2say a big thank u 2 all the people that v contributed on this forum, the likes of Tvegas, Pherma, Nefertitiram, Just wise, karypops, hawttatoo...the list is endless.....

@Modath pls be prepared if you are coming in via Chicago......

@Akindolz, na wah oh, I thought Chicago was more lenient. Well we thank God it ended well...

A quick one, I am also using Emirates to LA, was your fit to fly from a govt or private hospital?
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by Nogen: 10:02am On May 23, 2015
Akindolz, congratulations dear. Make I do pack my load dey come over before they will change their system. By the way, do they realise how much we put into their system? If our system is so good , personally I won't be coming over. I never liked the UK, most of my Vacations are done in the US.

Secondly, my hospital here had mentioned to me very early in my pregnancy that I should keep down a minimum of 3 million naira for delivery in case of NICU. NICU that hardly saves babies born unless they are in their 7th month. Please! 3 million naira is 15,000 dollars at least. For me, its all about the medicals first before the pali thingy.

They should just bear with us. It's not easy for us too.
A friend delivered her twins at 24 weeks. One survived and today, he's a bubbling boy. This was all possible because she gave birth whilst in the US. If it had happened here, those babies would have gone down the soakaway. As long as the person can afford to pay her bills, they should help us save our babies. We want the best medical care possible which unfortunately, we can't get here in Nigeria, at least for now.

@SimiJ I am assuming you r new to this thread cos your name doesn't seem familiar. Anyway the comments u just made abt someone losing babies is downright inhumane and unneccessary. If u r pregnant or a mother u would know that u shld never make comments that. U talked abt her not knowing the minds of people, it is minds like urs we shld be wary abt. Don't ever beat people when they are down. God in heaven is not asleep. Even if she hurt Ur feelings by her responses, address d issue and not the person. Afterall the person she had d argument with in d first place did not go as far as this. Pls be guided. This is not a forum for mad people. We shld be responsible family people.

@justwise: Pls help us maintain some decorum here by banning accordingly naa.
