Nigeria,a country inhabited and populated by over 70% dummies. People just follow the crowd mentality to do things;they don't have a mind of their own. They respond to critical issues affecting the nation, with sentiments rather than logic. Today, some people see OBJ as a hero, but are so quick to condemn the PDP and blame the party for all the country's woes. They claim PDP did nothing in 16 yrs but forget the fact that the OBJ they call hero, was in charge of PDP for 8 out of 16yrs. This obviously means their hero destroyed Nigeria for good 8 yrs.

Today, they call NOI all manner of names all because she served in GEJ's govt. But they fail to acknowlege the role she played in stabilizing the Nigerian economy during the OBJ years. They have suddenly forgotten how She helped Nigeria exit the Paris club debt to the tune of 30billion dollars. Majority of the people signing petitions against Her,do not even realized that the institution that gave her the award,is an ivy league school and must have done proper research on Her performance, before awarding her with the degree.

I have said it before and I'd say it again;the generation that will destroyy this country Nigeria,is this present generation. This generation have the best of resources that the world has ever known,to enable them find out information and gain knowledge within the shortest possible time frame. Yet,this generation do not have as much information/knowledge/intellectual prowess like the previous generations had. This means that they have virtually little or nothing to pass down to the upcoming generation cos they can't give what they do not have. This being said, how would the generation next look like? Can anyone see why I say the future of Nigeria looks bleak?

Journalism is usually meant for people who don't like to sweat or dirty themselves while making a living.

Yorrober controlls Nigeria's media. They feed jaundiced information to Nigerians.

The world is not as stupid as us. They understand our society better than us. Our apathy to governance cannot influence the objectivity of a prestigious institution like Yale.

All these grammar na hogwash, yes most of us are illiterates, in fact we don't even know how to spell 'economy' but we know the basics, the basics are that food is on the table of the common man, that things are better than they used to be, not paper economy, not our lives getting better on charts and statistics, not nonsense awards to people whose impact cannot be felt by the common man, not rise in the nation's dept, not borrowing to pay workers salaries. And in the midst of all these there are numerous presidential jets, some militants are feeding fat, there's leakages everywhere in the economy.

With all these what people like you want is for the people who are suffering to be smiling and keep singing the praise of our corrupt leader for either your myopic or whatever reason, tell Yale university to bring their school here for 1yr under NOI's watch, we'll see if they'll still give the nonsense award afterwards.

PDP TANiods and their attacking the messenger. The award of Yale on NOI is about her performance as Minister of Finance (which is nothing to write home about, considering the poor state of things).

Now the counter petition from Chinomnso against Iwalaiye is blabbing about NOI as world bank staff.

Yale should have cite a better excuse to dash her the award. Dr. Ngozi (apart from re-basing) is leaving the economy worse than she met it. Soludo is still miles ahead than Ngozi.
Soludo is still miles ahead of Ngozi! You see ur ignorance? Now can you critically analyse Nigerian Economy citing 10yrs economic indices comparatively and prove ur assertion? Now u want an institution that is not a political institution controlled by Tinubu, Obasanjo, or Lagos based media stuffed with naira by Tinubu, or the morons who were sold to the cheap lies concocted by these medium to make a mockery of their prestige by ur folly. Well, think again, this is not majority carries the vote, but a decision constructively taken, so ur ignorant vote propel by hate, bandwagon effect or even a popular Yoruba agenda is not the issue here.

This woman is truly a role model to follow. I don't know why Nigerians admire miracle workers, she came on board in 2011, 4 years approximately and she's been managing the affairs of this great nation which we all know is a challenging period of huge political, economic and security challenges; a period during which citizens look on to their governments in exasperation and disappointment. In the midst of all these, Ngozi has remained calm, focused and even more determined to help fix her fatherland.. So if she's a recipient of an international award of which she didn't give herself, you should know she deserved it. Stop the hate, rather celebrate her.

- She did continue in the role of Finance minister and managed the enviable feat of negotiating Nigeria's exit from the Paris Club, the first African country ever to achieve this

- first female federal finance minister of Nigeria

- Her financial and economic achievements have been widely acknowledged but I would like to celebrate a part of her that did not often get acknowledged- her simplicity. In Nigeria where flamboyance is the order of the day, Ngozi's consistent dressing in simple ankara cloth often accessorized with simple beads or coconut shell jewellery sent a powerful message to the Nigerian public. She showed that you did not have to be swathed in yards of lace, silk or satin and draped in tonnes of gold to be an effective or powerful woman. Her blunt speaking and sharp mind made her an alternative role model for young Nigerian women everywhere and earned her the respect of the international community

- Her exceptional achievements have received global recognition, some of which include

·        Top 100 most inspiring people delivering for girls and women, Women Deliver, 2011

·        The Bishop John T. Walker Distinguished Humanitarian Service Award, Africare, 2010

A prophet is never respected in his hometown. We will appreciate her when we loose her. These fools under the guise of politics must malign the name of this rare GEM because she is a woman, an Igbo and because she worked with GEJ. Can any formal finance minister in this country be compared with her? If 3-4 world recognized universities in the USA has given her awards in the past, doesn't that tell us something? Then one hollow headed idi*ot who was lucky to had gone to school abroad is calling for an award given her to be retrieved. I don't even know the guy but I know Okonjo Iweala.

"Okonjo Iweala is corrupt" but a world renowned university like Yale is giving her an award. Foolish Nigerians that understand only the price of rice, garri and fuel in the market as the meaning of economy will open their maggot infested cavity and rant. That woman is a gift for this country. Shey Obama and all his western fools were indirectly supporting apc before the election and were calling names and painting everyone in GEJ's administration black? But an institution like Yale which is not influenced by political will has spoken yet some half educated buffoons ans educated illiterate will not learn but will always expose their hollowness. You can say that again bro. I see tribalism play out in this trash being promoted by some s1lly illiterates and even some educated one amongst us here in Nigeria supported this rubbish they call "petition signing". Even those who could not pass simple Economics in school are all spewing trash against the person of NOI. It's really sad and I beleive their project is dead on arrival.
No individual is greater than Yale, Havard, Transparency international all whom had given clean bills to NOI and GEJs administration regards fighting corruption, stamping out ghost workers ( we all know those who benefit from this), stamping out fertilizer scam (again we know those who are involved). Everything thing about this zoo called Nigeria is so tiring, I feel so sad.

Yet in the midst of all this 'facts', where is the effect of what she has done in this country? This same country she is bent on repairing has managed to re-invest their debt forgiveness by adding more debt, the Naira is now equivalent to 200 dollars or thereabouts, Salaries of legitimate workers nationwide are been owed, and we don't even know for sure if Nigeria has money or not.

Its not about the international awards she gets; Patience Jonathan got her own PHDs when her husband was in power, whether honorary or not they are not suppose to give it for nothing so she 'supposedly' did something.

Opposition party supporter or not, she is a crucial part of what has become the worst administration in Aso Rock for quite sometime, that's a stain that is hard to wash and certainly does not deserve such an award.

The Chinonso/Chimonso that is defending her is not one of the people suffering from her policies/ Jonathan's policies and am not talking of ghost workers here.

If having a PhD is what makes one a good leader, GEJ will be the best ever in our history, but look around, the reverse is the case. Under the very watch of the IMF Trojan Horse (aka NOI) the economy is crumbling and a "reputable" educational institution still deems it fit to award her an honorary doctorate for her troubles, citing lies as the reasons for such... How did we get here?

Do this people realize the article is saying that someone started a petition requesting the degree of the person that started the petition against NOI to be taken from him? grin grin

Anyway I can now see why the Yoruba guy is hating on NOI award. So all he could achieve, despite his years, is a post baccalaureate certificate in Administration and Supervision. No f2king wonder. NOI with a PhD from MIT and children, younger than the guy that started the petition, are both medical doctors. I don't blame him, I would hate too if I was him.

Anyway, let them continue jor

NOI prestigious background
Masters from Harvard University
PhD from MIT
Honorary Doctorate from Brown University
Honorary Doctorate from Trinity College
Honorary Doctorate from Colby College
Honorary Doctorate from Northern Caribbean University
Honorary Doctorate from Amherst College
And now Honorary Doctorate from Yale University.

And much more in the future.

NOI has an M.sc, a ph.D and 4 honorary doctorates dayumm! and the Iwalaiye guy(with only a post-bacclaurate in supervision is fighting to have One honorary doctorate withdrawn. Futility! lmao!

Yale should have cite a better excuse to dash her the award. Dr. Ngozi (apart from re-basing) is leaving the economy worse than she met it. Soludo is still miles ahead than Ngozi.

u lots r so hyper-hypocrtic that u tend to side anythng that cross carpt to ur evil party. what good did soludo did that beneftted the masses?
is it spnding billions to bring back coins that cant even buy tissue paper? wasting billions on polymer notes that washes off more quicker than aba-made jean?
pls wen comparing people try doing it justlyy n fairly. u fit compare soludo n lamido sanusi cos the two headed the cbn, none of them manage d economy!

What do I say? Both the giver and the taker are corrupt. So whatever they do its their business, had it been the giver sampled the opinion of Nigerians they would have known better.
.

Unfortunately, you are not learned enough to understand the basis unto which such awards are given, it's not PDP vs APC...so try and read more to have more knowledge.

This is one of our problems in Nigeria, how can u just assume the people that signed the petition are illiterate or biased. If you are not being biased yourself can you evaluate the economic situation of the country. I don't need a phd in econs to know the country is bleeped. About half of the states can not pay salaries to civil servants, federal govt can not pay salaries, no money to settle oil marketers and resolve the oil scarcity. Sir I am proud to tell you I signed that petition because am convinced the coordinating minister of Nigerias economy has Failed woefully

bros i will like to chalenge u to a debate on the economy.!
first lets ask ourselves what is economy?
what makes nigerian economy tto be bleeped as being peddled by apc
