la liga teams take europa cup very seriously - it's extra revenue for them especially when they are paid pea-nuts with barca/madrid getting the lion share of the TV revenue.

EPL teams hate europa cup. it's an extra burden to them considering the fact they play carling cup(there's no equivalent of it in spain & germany). besides that, the FA have no mercy with their fixtures. you go to europa on thursday night & you are expected to play in the league by sunday noon.

EPL teams who go to europa perform below their normal standard in the league. it's a needless distraction that doesn't even pay much, english teams would rather finish high on the league table than pursue europa cup. relegating teams in england make more money than europa cup champions.

even when chelsea won it in 2013, they were ridiculed that they won a mickey-mouse cup. na impoverished teams like sevilla, athletico madrid, leverkusen, etc dey celebrate europa. the competition is seen as a curse in england. so shut up already about the number of teams that have won it in spain.

if la liga teams come to the EPL, barca & madrid wouldn't even finish in the top 4. they get £150m each from their TV revenue while the other 18 clubs get £30m each. it's this big money that pays the wages of their star players. in the EPL, TV money is shared fairly equally. without £150m to spend, madrid & barca wouldn't have any advantage over the EPL clubs.
