We had no national grid at independence, so most homes weren't even wired. 96% of homes in Nigeria used CANDLE LIGHT at independence after 63 years of uninterrupted white rule. So whatever we have today is the best we've ever had.

The minute you start providing for millions of people more than you did previously there will ALWAYS be a strain on resources. The apartheid govt provided only for the minority 5% white population while the majority blacks lived in shanties. The new black govt came in and spread the wealth, meaning no more favouritism for a few. This CAN lead to a generally reduced standard of service delivery, but it is FAR PREFERABLE to what obtained previously. That is how you should view it. If I decided to spend all Nigeria's money on say Kwara people, will Kwara not look like heaven?
