Lol. A belief absolves you of personal responsibility? Are you making things up as you go along? You could have just read what I wrote, plaetton. I said that belief makes you act a certain way rather than another.

As for sowing and reaping... Unbelief or cynicism will always lead you to commit acts that will bring unfortunate consequences. Faith, on the other hand, will always lead you to carry out actions that will bring worthy rewards.

It's not rocket science, plaetton. If you believe in Jesus, that belief will make you responsible and good. The same way that believing that a chair can take your weight will make you sit or stand on it as you need to. If you don't believe in Jesus, on the other hand, you will not care about what he says you should do.

As for the part about accountability for sin, think of it as a teacher with his students.... For believers, that is. As we are learning to live life the Christ way, we make mistakes, sometimes even act out like total buffoons. He gets it and at such times he steps in with one argument only: the punishment due to us has already been borne by him and we are free. And because we believe we will actually change our behavior accordingly.

I wish I knew you when I was actually living on this section and arguing like I was paid to do it. I would have loved to hear you come out in defence of atheists and these ridiculous ideas you espouse in your rather arrogant denunciation of Christians.

I'm going to hope that at the very least you do believe the Bible that defines what Christianity is. You can doubt Christians all you want and denounce us for all the terrible things you may have suffered at our hands and I can understand and even sympathize.. But if you are one of those "Christians" who don't believe the Bible to be wholly true and authoritative I won't even waste my time discussing with you.

Now, assuming you do believe the Bible... There is no Christian doctrine that judges a man for his actions and not his faith alone. The Christian doctrine holds that a man's faith or lack thereof can be judged from his actions. If a man has faith, his actions will show it. If he lacks it, they will too. Thus you cannot divorce faith from acts. A Christian is not one because of his protestations that he is one but because he does things that are consistent with the character of the Christ that he professes. That is the fifth time I'm explaining that now.

As for what faith is, I don't know where you got your own definition but in Hebrews 11:1, it is said to be the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for and the EVIDENCE of things unseen. Faith is said to be substantial and measurable by the Bible itself. It is not some protestation, it is something that can be seen and measured. In other words, like James said, faith is seen through actions.

Will atheists and other "non-Christians" go to heaven? I know only one answer: if any man believes in the Son of God he has everlasting life, if any man does not he is already condemned. I couldn't make it any simpler than that. When we start wondering about the fairness of God in sending people who never heard about Christ to hell, my answer is that it is not God's interest or desire at all that anybody should perish so I'm fully satisfied that he won't just haul people into hell when they never had a chance to hear of Christ. As for those who heard but didn't yield, it is up to them to ask themselves why. What is so terrible or frightening about kneeling to Christ Jesus? When they figure it out they'll know whether they even want to be in heaven with him.

I have great doubts that Jesus actually existed, but the moral teachings attributed him make sense, and are the universal ethos found in every religion and philosophy.
I do believe that it is little minded and misguided folks and simpletons that ignore the message to worship the messenger.

Tex, belief limits action. If you believe in Christ you will do as Christ says. If you do things that contradict what Christ stands for then you have already denied him.

The judgment day is for discovering the truth of every claim. On that day if someone has been deceiving himself that he is Christ's while living in disobedience to the same Christ he will see the truth of his claims and receive his due reward.

You are the one "adjusting" the bible's message. The good Samaritan was not a christian. Samaritans did not follow Christ or Judaism.


If Jesus could use the Good Samaritan to relate to heaven (eternal life), who are you to state that unbelievers cant go to heaven because of not having faith in Christ?
