water stability of almost 24hours? that's so not true.
I do know that feed nutrients leach into the water after few hours and also fish will not feed on feed that stays in the water column for over 15minutes.
if may ask, what's the FCR of the feed for catfish?

pls my ogas in d house, since i change to a formulated local feed, the water in my pond(earthen) changes to a dark colour and always fumes.which is becoming concentrated wth time. Am thinking dat it may have a bad effect on d fish; pls wat can i do?

@Jaymyde, an Ideal Earthen Pond should be Flow through, Just like what we use @ JuveFarms. Constant inflow & outflow, maybe that's why we hardly experience poor water. Incase you don't use flow through system. All u need do is change the water. I guess the formulated feed is Sinking?, if yes how do u know when the fishes are satisfied or even responding to the feed. Is the feed newly introduced to them?. If yes then the fishes are not adjusted to it yet, therefore its just lyin in the pond & polluting the pond. Tnx

water quantity has a major role because space without water may seem useless to the cats, I use 1000liters as well, change water in 2 days they are doing well now.
so I think u should increase the water level and change as regular as possible. also try reading from page one of this thread for best management practices.

in as much u maintain water quality in the pond d chicken liver will not pollute d pond .chicken intestine too is good infact with d chicken liver foods it will reduce d buying of 6mm feeds oooooooo.water quality is mostly needed ensure in flow and out flow of water in the pond happy farming.

No cut corners, even a good local feed is more expensive than some foreign feed these days. Feed quality to harvest quality.

@juve farm, i really appreciate ur response,although before i introduce d local feed, i left those fishes for about 12hrs b4 using d local feed.so dey responded when i started using d feed. When i feel dey are satisfied,they leave their feeding spot stylishly. Am a novice, i dont know wat flow through means but water flows in naturally from d ground.i can only pump it out with machine; pls i need ur contact dat we can talk sir. Thanks and God bless

what bro juve is saying is that in ponds water should be flowing both in and out of the pond cos' water is good for their growth.that's why they are called fresh water animals. so endeavor to allow water to flow through in ur pond ooooo.

@jamyde, let's keep the novice aside & lets talk about catfish. The said water from the ground can't sustain the pond through the duration, cos as the fishes gets older it becomes a great challange. @sleeknaija, if u have water & accommodation for them Fishes. U can use 80k to feed about 280fishes. If catfish can be rear successfully in a Bathtub, it will have same market value. Tnx

I have been using local feed wt the formular from this thread. I wd admit it is cost saving and I have the option to dictate the amount of protein I want it to have. But i notice the byproduct comes wt a lot of shaft residue and also my gutter pact is filled with human-like faeces. I have to use water to flush the gutter pact cos it smells if left to remain there. Do anyone experience this? I also noticed the water get polluted fast.

Also, I went to the local feed mill to complain abt the shaft residue I see in my tank and they said it might be the feed composition. I was also advice to add poultry feed protein (forgotten the name though) I was told one 5kg can be used for one ton of feed and it's rich in protein so and if I want to prepare a 80kg feed, I wd need 0.4kg which would cost 500Naira...and I can use 0.8kg to supplement 72% feed mill and I can also add 72% to aid quick growth.
