President Muhammadu Buhar’s  choice of Senator Ahmad Lawan for the post Senate President, has futther fractured the party caucus at the National Assembly.

This contradicts Buhari’s earlier position. He had said he was not interested in who emerges.

The move by Buhari has angered the camp of  Senator Bukola Saraki, who believes the National Working Committee members in concert with Buhari may want Lawan who is viewed as more credible and a core northerner unlike Saraki

Buhari had said two weeks  ago “I am prepared to work with any leader that the House or Senate selects, “It doesn’t matter who the person is or where he or she is from “there is due process for the selection of leaders of the National Assembly, and I will not interfere in that process.

35 out of the 59 senators-elect under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had declared their support for Saraki. He had  posted the video of the endorsement on his Facebook and Twitter pages with the caption “videos don’t lie”.The APC at the General elections won majority of the 109 seats in the upper chamber.

Similarly, in a statement issued by Dino Melaye, for ‘Like Minds Senators’, he said, “Senators of the like mind are here today at the retreat organized by our dear party, All Progressives Congress, which is meant to equip and empower Senators-Elect of the 8th Assembly to prepare them toward the challenges ahead.

It was learnt that a meeting scheduled to decide on who takes the spot  was to hold Tuesday  at the International Conference Center in Abuja, was called off.

While some said the plenary was responsible for the shift to Saturday, others allege it was a ploy by the Lawan group to re strategize.

In a meeting a day ago with members of the party’s NWC, President Muhammad Buhari had signaled his preference for Lawan. According to Sahara Reporters, several sources at the meeting disclosed that Buhari said he was tipping Senator Lawan because of his experience and integrity. Mr. Lawan hails from Nigeria’s violence-ravaged northeast zone.

President Buhari had asked party leaders to present one candidate as a way of projecting a united front. However, it was learnt that  the APC’s national chairman, Odigie Oyegun, was pushing for a primary to enable party members to choose between Saraki and Lawan. Some APC sources disclosed that Mr. Oyegun supports former Governor Saraki’s bid to emerge as the new Senate president.

This administration isn't going to be funny. The northerners might have sinister agenda that is making Buhari to surround himself with core northern muslim. But God will definitely hear our cry, like he has been doing

If integrity is the order of the day, then Buhari will definitely have reservations Saraki being the Senate President.

Buhari has already admitted that the Senate is responsible for electing its own leaders.

I understand why some people are so sad about PMB presidency. The truth is that the hat wearing former PGEJ was tested and found to be groosly malfunctioning and totally incapable. Having him for second term in office would have spelt a serious irrecoverable doom for this country. Now that the best man of this moment in the person of PMB has gotten theere, you people don't need to support him but you've got to deal with that and painfully so. Thank you my brother,i also live in Ilorin,if Bukola should emerge as senate president, hmmn hmmn, the whole Nigeria will be under his control, that guy is very wicked, heartless and arrogant, thats when he's going to extend his practice of seizing and selling what belongs to people outside Kwara state,he's the most corrupt politician in Nigeria,Tinubu still has the love of his people at heart,Tinubu is humble and diplomatic but Bukola is heartless, mean and arrogant.
He has turned Kwarans to slaves, they worship him,and they're going to worship his children if care is not taken,i heard that elderly men are already bowing down and prostrating for his son,he wants everybody under his feet, for this senate presidency, only God knows the amount of sacrifices he has made for him to emerge,he's too fetish, the man is too ambitious, everything has to come his way by all means necessary, too money hungry.

You could claim and feign passion for the country for all i care. As long as ur baba one chance continues to say one thing and do the other, say one thing today and say another tomorrow; in as much as he keeps going back on his words, we would not all blindly support him.
His hands are not clean, so this equity u guys encouraged him to go spells doom.

Not surprised! The dura born aka babaonechance has literarily gone back on many promises made to the Nigerian people in just a few days.

Has refused to declare his assets.
Has refused to lead the war against boko.
Has refused to cut down on extravagant lifestyle rather his flying private jet to Islamic countries celebrating his fradulent mandate.
Has influenced the release of corrupt personals as Sylvia and nayako as opposed to jailing and recovering government loots.
He now belongs to the Chadians and Niger's and in Nigeria he belongs to no one.
Now he has influenced the senate against the wish of the senators of themselves.
What a scam the Nigerian people fell for! Shame!

Whoever thought this man is trustworthy needs his or her heads examined!
What a waste of four precious years in Aso rock... Smh
