That's not surprising to read from someone who's still in Nigeria, no disrespect. Not all of us left Nigeria because we don't like our dear country. You'll appreciate your country (Nigeria) and your culture MORE when you spend a few months abroad.

iriferi : I'm 100% on your side on this one.
Come back to ur culture and country.

When u decide to migrate to another country, it then means u have to drop some parts of your nigerianness and adapt to that ctry's culture and practises, that's if u really want to get anything out of dat ctry's system, if u aint ready to do those things, then return back home to naija and enjoy your culture more. No pun intended

My points exactly...they are all eyeing PR... singing patriotism like never before. Come back and fix Nigeria or enjoy it as it is. No way! I end this chat here.

I am different from you!! Your posts reveals how desperate you are - jumping from thread to thread. I thought you were done with Australia only for you to come back to this thread. I have been here for a long time not to know your posts history (Nairaland tsunami got rid of that particular post for you).

I'm as desperate as to make something out of life. I don't owe u anything while finding the way...u can come back if u don't like it there. I jump as I like...I deactivate and reactivate as I wish. U can claim u love Nigeria but I know there is no Nigeria. End of story.

Hi guys about this Australia PR , I will like to know if I stand any chance.
I am. 31 years old
I have Bsc Accounting (2.2)
I am a chartered Accountant
I have 7.5 years banking experience
I got a 7 in ielts General ( March 14 2015)
Please advise me.
I didn't know of other ways so I went on to apply for a TAFE course with my o level. But just incase I will like to know if I may be qualified for PR with my family.

Pls advise me .

You are almost there in your quest for PR. Your IELtS result wont cut it because you did General test. You will need to have a 7 in all bands in Academic test in most Accounting related discipline under the SOL list but do your research. Your years of working experience looks good. Read the thread, carry out more research and make haste because i heard they reviewing the academic requirements again which may further lift the bar.
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by erictack203(m): 9:40am On Jun 22, 2015
Where in Oz are you going? Is it Sydney? If they are fully booked and your are not going for Studies, you may opt to pick early August, else u can use other alternative booking method other than IOM.

now I'm officially confused,so some assessing bodies require general n others require academic IELTS...On EA I didn't see any one that is required but all along I've decided to do academic cos this is what I've done before some years back.

So, anyone flying through Singapore should not forget to pick up a fresh boarding pass once you get to Singapore. Else if you stroll to the boarding gate, you will be asked to go get it and stand a great chance of missing your flight. Just a tip. I'm stuck in changi for 20 hours

EA accepts either IELTS academics or general. You need IELTS general for migration point. It is wise to sit for general so as not to waste money.

Do I need to complete the IELTS test?

All applicants applying to have their skills assessed by Engineers Australia are required to provide evidence of their English competency. Applicants are required to have achieved a minimum of Band 6 in each of the 4 modules of Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking in either the general or academic modules of the IELTS.

Further information on the IELTS can be found in the booklet or at the IELTS website.

Pls let me get it right. One must present evidence of English test and it must be IELTS GT with 6.0 or above across the board. What if one wants to present another or newer trf that meets with say superior bands for migration points at DIBP stage?

For Assessment EA accept IELTS ONLY 6 band minimum accross.

DIBP ACCEPT IELTS & others (PTE, TOEFL iBT)
So long you meet the score for the point you claim

sorry about that bro...the wait can be horrible. but try to keep urself company with sports arenas or something if they have cos they have a sports center in malaysia where u can just keep watching sports and pass time with free wifi. but I tot that if u need another boarding pass u will know since the one ur with doesnt show ur final destination. either way they shud have given u when u checked in at the transit desk instead of waiting for u to ask for it. sorry bro. ur wait will be over before u know it.

Hi everyone, I would like to ask if there is any chartered accountant here that has assessed their qualifications and skills with CPA as I do not fully understand the information I have read on their website as they seem to be focused on skills assessment, whereas, qualifications need to be assessed first(by my own understanding). I am thinking of using CPA for my assessment simply because they have a processing period of 10 to 15 days compared to ICAA and IPA who process for 4 to 6 weeks. I would appreciate if any accountant here could share their experience with any of these processing bodies.
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by chuckdee13(m): 4:34pm On Jun 22, 2015
@NNBB2012 pls I'm sorry to drag u back, but I went thru the DIBP website n saw this "You have achieved a score of at least 6 in each of the four test components (speaking, reading, listening and writing) in an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test that has been undertaken in the three years immediately prior to lodging the visa application." they didnt specify academics or general. is there somewhere else I can get this info? cos I tell u general test no be beans oh grin
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by pingu2k5(m): 4:48pm On Jun 22, 2015
Skills assessment is assessment of your qualifications. I had my assessment with ICAA; took about 5 weeks. Documents I submitted were ICAN certificate & transcript, Letter of Good Standing from ICAN, degree certificate & transcript and CV. I sent these documents via email.

If you want to claim points for work experience, you will have to apply for your experience to be assessed. This is skilled employment assessment. You can apply for the two assessments at the same.

Hello All,

Great work you guys are doing here.. Been following this site as a guest and I guess it's time to register and start making moves.. I have questions as to this PR thing.. I have read enough but I just want a quick evaluation from peeps here going forward..
I hope to apply for the 189 or SVP(I believe that's the student route as I intend going for my masters) and here's my bio..

Female
Age: 31
Married with two children
Bsc studied Business management
work experience: 1 year customer service and 3 years PA.
IELTS: Haven't sat for the exams but I will. I am quite confident I will pass..
So how many points do you think I have minus the IELTS?

Thanks for your time!

Thanks a lot . But I have already paid my 1st term fees and health insurance about 7,170 Aud. Also I have also applied for the visa. Icant really pull out now .
but is it possible for me to apply for PR once I complete my TAFE? ( If I get the visa)

Go through the previous posts and read the steps to take. You do not need to apply as a student when you have all it takes to get your PR. Looking at your details, you have the following points:

Age-30points
Qualification-15
Experience-10
IELTS 7 in each module?-10 points
Total-65points.
Please run with this and forget TAFE idea.
To clear the air, it is imperative to check whether your occupation is on SOl /CSOL list. It is not everyone with Bsc that is eligible for PR. The first step is to peruse the list, I said this because I saw people who bagged Bsc in philosophy asking about PR , I doubt that is needed skill. Try to peruse the list first. All the best

I think it's because it's never happened to me before. I have frequently used transits and I've never had to get afresh boarding pass.... We learn everyday
