ATTENTION: Joseph I. Odumodu

Dear SON,

There is perception that The Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) is not doing anything to curb the proliferation of fake goods especially electrical items and that the DG of SON, Dr. Joseph Odumodu, is only paying lip service to fight against fake goods in the country.
Despite several report in writing, by e-mail and/or through their website; they have fail to investigate any of the reports since 2014. Hence, the importation and selling counterfeit electrical product is on the rise.

There is an impression that Dr. Joseph Odumodu is supporting corruption being perpetrated by these people. He should rise up and do act right
The greatest challenge to citizen giving info is the fear of reprisal attack and even assassination by the fake goods baron when the SON relay info to the criminal of the identity of the whistle-blower. Hence the influx of fake product into the market. Next time you buy Electrical product you might be purchasing one of these fake items.

Take for example an often reported case since 2014 of electrical wire counterfeiter in Abuja. Yet no action has been taken.

Block E, Moonwalk Estate (Century 21 Estate , located opposite Metro College and Stamford Hotel), FCDA Quarters, Kubwa, Abuja

They bring in substandard electric cable in trailer load in the night and use the advantage of a nondescript residential area as cover to carry out their nefarious activity. They resize the cable and repackage them, using the original cable wrap of electrical cable manufacturers like NOCACO, Cutix, NIWIL etc before dumping them in the local Nigerian market; hence the increasing difficulty of the undiscerning masses to differentiate the the real from the fake, resulting in fire incidence on building via electrical fault and its attendant loss of lives and properties.

In 2011, about 85 per cent of goods in circulation in the country were substandard and counterfeit.

SON, NPF, EFCC must act now to curb the proliferation of fake goods in the market.
Re: Open Letter To SON: Illegal Fake Cable Factory in Kubwa by 1srPrince: 2:21pm On Jun 24, 2015
1srPrince:
In an effort to curb the proliferation of fake goods in the market, the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says it has shut down production in a tomatoes production company, Vital Products Nigeria Ltd, following the discovery that the company has been re-packing expired tomato paste into aluminium foil sachets

What has SON contributed? Yet, this people complain about salary or whatnot?

This is the impression I sought to correct with this communication. My aim is to clearly correct this wrong impression that Dr. Joseph Odumodu is supporting corruption being perpetrated by his kinsmen in this regard. He should rise up and do the right thing

This is to report one of several cases of illegal substandard cables counterfeiting in Kubwa Abuja, after successfully trying to get Nigeria Police and SON to arrest this menace.

Ok, you may want to read through the letter and edit it because as it is, it is confusing and difficult to understand. Is there any other channel that complaints like this could be made, say radio or TV program or agency?
Oh, ICPC or EFCC may be able to help have you tried sending them an email?
