Why are there so many idiots commenting in the politics section.?

Reference to the comments on appointment of Daura as the DGSSS.

I guess there are too many children there who don't understand the importance of the head of the intelligence community to the C-in-C

I have given up on the politics section. I go there to pass time and wind a certain nucca up

If the comments were only ethnic/religious bias, I probably can let it pass but they are full of ignorance. People talking authoritatively on something they know nothing about.

Ita, former DGSSS should have been sacked 2years ago. The guy nearly destroyed professionalism in the service because of his unbridled desire to retain his seat.

Why else do you think I said I gave up? Someone wrote ' a concise assessment of Buhari's first 12 days in office' and made a whole lot of inference from that assessment and people took him seriously shocked. I was like whadafuq?

Like you, I can handle the ethnic bias and political partisanship but mehn the ignorance is mind numbing lipsrsealed and sometimes it scares me to be honest.

Most of them are ignorant of governance, they don't read and are poor students of history....

If these set of Nigerians are the leaders in waiting or tomorrow, it is better Pa Buhari's age mates continue to rule the country. The nation will be worse under these children than the state it is.

Actually, it is the ethnicism and tribal partisanship that has led to willful ignorance and abuse of logic. You think they'd say all they do if Jonathan was still in power? And Seun is not helping matters with the quality of threads given high attention by pasting on frontpage.

Of course, it does, however, the emergence of Jonathan saw a downward spiral in the quality of political debates on nairaland. All you need do is go through pre-2008 politics section threads. Sure, there was angst and dirty fights but there was some intelligence to disagrrements. Now, all we've got there are pro-East/anti-East factions.

When I was graduating, I took mental stock of my colleagues in my department and thought how we'd all go job-hunting, and I considered how many I would/could employ if I had the means, my answer was "not much".

Re: Boys Night Out Discussions by Nobody: 10:23pm On Jul 03, 2015
dont get it twisted, the folks in the politics section intentionally do what they do....
The trend is only a reaction to the act by the current administration when it was still in opposition, the previous administration was full of nitwits and petty thieves but then, they were basically run down by propaganda, someone just wakes up nd cook up shit he cant validate and everyone swallows it, hook, line and sinker, facts are suddenly lacking in debates and campaigns are no longer issue based. the current administration played dirty to get to where they are, so many contradictions, two days ago, they were crying about why the previous government wants to remove subsidy, yesterday they said there was no subsidy, today they are accusing the past government of stealing subsidy money which they initially claimed did not exist in the first place, wtf shocked worse still, they are saying, this government which is yet to come up with any policy issue should be credited for reviving the refinery whose process of revamp started some seasons ago, this government also did not do itself much favour by making some silly promises, like making the value of the naira equal to that of the Dollar and paying social security eveen though the means are not there, did they think Nigerians would forget those things? i wonder how people managed to buy into the first one, even an SS1 student of economics knows it to be foolish, i wonder if the person making the promises actually believes it.....
reasons like this are why i dont bother with Nigerian politics, too many corny leaders, too many biased, sentimental and eediotic followers backing them.... they wont admit the truth even though its right in their face, just like the previous failed administration, this one is heading the same way....

^^^^ He actually did in one of his campaigns, ever wondered why his fans were not defending it earlier...
The funny thing is when ever one opens a thread and says something negative about the administration, some bunch of kids just start insulting without even reading or comprehending..
This administration started off real slow and has broken some of its promises, so early, declaration of asset being the most obvious, when I was going to the polls to vote buhari, I didn't expect he would do any magic, I just wanted the previous administration out, but I expected some integrity at least, he's losing that already, some days ago, I read he was trying to build a helipad, which is not a bad thing though it should be way down the list of priorities considering the situation on ground, my problem now is dat his followers are defending him by comparing him to the previous administration, afterall David mark has one... Hello, we dint vote him to behave like the previous administration, we kicked the past pple out cos of how they did things, if this one is gonna be acting like them, we are indeed doomed

Njokusboy - A few of my thoughts on some of the things you highlighted -

We say Buhari has started slow, maybe you are right if you compare him to previous administrations who come in, show some braggado in their first few weeks and list out several white elephants projects they have commenced. And that's as far as it goes. We know the rest of the story. Consequently, I have never been a fan of this initial gra gra by any administration because if you really want to make a lasting change in a country as big and diverse as ours, with systemic rots that transcends multiple administrations, then I don't expect any miracle in the first 100 days. How So when you say he is slow, that is relative and it will only be to people who are comparing him with previous administrations which is fair enough if you like initial gra gra. But for people like me who have never fancied the 100-day show off, we are still watching, no score yet.

However, one area which has worn out my long-lasting patience is the issue of BH. And why is this? Till date, lives are still being lost and families are still being torn apart. Unfortunately, that's a No No for me. These people are humans like you and I with flesh and blood. If people are going to enjoy the dividends of voting Buhari, they need to be alive to do so, they won't be recalled back from the grave when things get better. I would say this is the major reason why a lot of people especially moi wanted Jonathan out and couldn't wait for him to go so that the continual wastage of lives would stop immediately. Unfortunately, this has not happened and it makes me sad more than anything else. Every human deserves a right to live, and the government of the day owes them that - to protect us all from any invasion, external or internal.

The issue of a helipad thus become a non-issue for me especially when I read up how much it truly cost(without the usual inflation) and the reasons behind it. I understand it doesn't cost much, cuz really, this is not some fine architectural masterpiece we are talking about here. And then the motives behind it which I totally understand and agree with. I used to work on the Island some years back and I know what it is when Jonathan or Pepe comes to Lagos, especially madam Pepe. It was a living hell. They didn't even have to come to ur environment before you felt their impact. At 12 midnight, we would all still be trapped in the offices cuz the traffic build-up was yet to clear, the alternative was to summon up courage and get in the traffic, and a journey of 15 mins would take up to 4 to 5 hrs. No exaggerations here. And remember that the longer you stay in traffic, the higher the chances of 'the owners' coming to visit you. I want to believe what is experienced in Lagos is what other states would face each time a president or his vice comes visiting, maybe on a smaller scale though. I read how Ogun State came to a stand still when Osinbanjo visited a few weeks ago. Now sum up all the man-hours wasted, the risk, the mental and physical effects and so on for thousands/millions of people who will constantly be affected by his movements to Daura or wherever and see which is more cost efficient.

Buhari is indeed slow, i finally lost that argument this week, its one month already and no ministers, that is only the result of non strategic campaign, he ought to have had his sh1t in place as soon as he won the election... Also that stuff about him calling a meeting of house members when they were supposed to be getting inaugurated and electing leaders was a "not too smart" move..... The dude should wake up, this country is on fury road... 4 years is not 4 centuries... This is not about score, its about efficiency, the old administration is already out, no one is counting, its not a game...
one of the reasons the past administration failed is because the dude was surrounded by praise singers who didnt tell him the truth, we got them out, its our duty to keep them on their feet, i didnt vote him so i could defend his shortcomings, we also need to stop giving him undue credit, its getting boring, lai muhammed (who i never liked anyway) was saying some rubbish the other day about how buhari has already outperformed jonathan in handling the boko haram insurgency, haba, fastforward and count how many those dudes have killed... femi adesina is already on twitter reminding me of why i disliked Doyin okupe...
i agree with the helipad ish, i never said it was a bad move, but i dont like the idea of saying 'david mark did it, why cant buhari do same", we didnt vote buhari to behave like the preceding government.... with that mindset, we are already ruined

This sweltering sun + the attendant hayfever - never thought I would complain about sunshine lipsrsealed
Funny we never experience hayfever in Europe - even with sweltering sun. Somebody please explain this

The "no mixing" sounds like the old "Food Combining" to me? Which is oddly named as you actually separate carbs and proteins. First came across it ages ago, tried it and lost 7 pounds. I wasn't even planning to lose weight, I was told it helped with gas and pimples grin!

But seriously the weight came right off. I still practice it to this day. It's why you always hear of my salad + chicken/fish suppers. Some people find it boring/limited as it typically means veg and/or salad with either a protein or carb dish.

I've heard claims that the weight loss - even if only in part - is due to the restrictive nature? Not sure that many will care about that if it works grin!

Seems you are finding it boring/limited, and there is no real remedy for that. You could do it "in part". So my breakfast is always simple and my supper combined as before, but for lunch I'll have whatever takes my fancy.

What I do at Owambes is to have two separate meals. So I'll have say rice + moin moin, then a while later have some chicken and/or fish. But I'm happy to forego food that doesn't meet my standards or just have the one, but possibly a larger portion.

I don't find it boring and could eat decent fish, chicken - and occasionally meat - for days. It's my go to meal so obviously great for BBQ's.

Some people question how some items - i.e. - beans combines. But to me beans and dodo qualifies - but no meat 0! I count diary - including milk & eggs as protein. But I still have the occasional cheese or egg sarnie.

The low carb diet - aka Atkins - is actually satisfied by the protein combining. I liking that more these days as I find I have more energy and recover from workouts better - especially since I don't do protein drinks or supplements.

It was a hangover from my boxing days where it was all about making weight, leading me to avoid meat somewhat - now I'm not so sure protein causes weight gain more than carbs?

Well done on the 5 days of water. Was that a water fast or 5 days where you eschewed any liquid - i.e. your normal stout and gulder - than water? Either way good effort

Porridge with coconut milk, raisins and banana for brekkie, egg or cheese sandwich (I love artisan bread and get a fresh loaf on Saturday mornings) + smoothie for lunch and then salad and fish for supper.

A mi baale - if you see me in my abeti aja get-up grin

Thinking about it, I'm quite restricted in my liquid intake - lots a water, that's a given then mostly juice, with a bit of herbal tea. No alcohol - never and ever - but I indulge with purdeys, malt and sometimes lemonade. I fear coffee, hear it gives you a great boost - it's a stimulant - but I don't want to be addicted.

No fee required. I'm actually taking coaching qualifications with the aim of setting up my own practice, although the actual practice will be more than just coaching, so this will help me too.

For a dietary menu, I don't think it will be as straight forward as just being prescriptive - coaches never do that cheesy. I don't know what the desired end result is, or what you are currently doing, or how far you are prepared to go.

So far example, I've just started taking brekkie more seriously after years of skipping it. I'll have one boiled plantain with pepper stew, or Ill have a portion of black eye beans, or a few slices of toast. And very rarely now, I may have cereal and milk.

But I typically have a smallish breakfast as I also have a smoothie. Would that kind of regime work for you? What do you do now? How big a change would that be, would it be an improvement?

I believe I've mentioned my "weeklysalad container" previously, and I've touched on supper; it's typically salad with one of the following; salmon - wet or smoked - tuna (steak, not canned), trout, haddock, red bream, mackerel or chicken. Wifey loves her rice and does mean roast potatoes, so sometimes I'll have a few tatties or a small side of rice. But not very often

I know you are trying to obviate the boring and incorporate full-on okelé grin! Perhaps think about having a rule, 70:30, 80:20 etc. which will allow you to indulge, without robbing you off benefits.

I think you'll find that if you stick with it, you'll become accustomed to it and your tastes will change. Some of the cravings disappear and when you indulge others, you'll wonder why

As for questions, fire away.

My aim . .
Lose some weight and live healthy. I notice that is harder to burn now than years ago. I guess my body has learnt my antics and is resisting now.

What I want to know is an example diet that is varied, it works, is filling and its healthy . . .but will also result in weight loss
Funny enough I only really eat okele when I am in Nigeria
I havent eaten pounded yam or its siblings for months.
My undoing is Jollof or fried rice, white rice and ayamase, meatpies and magnum ice cream Bad, bad, bad!!!
My collegues are also very bad influences and with people coming back from holidays and dunkin donut birthdays almost every day its a constant battle.

Anyway back to biz
Breakfast is low fat yoghurt, prunes, granola and grapes and coffee. . . . Is this good or bad? I used to put a drizzle of honey on it, but ive stopped.
Like I said, rice is my undoing and I love rice to bits and Lunch/dinner depending on how hungry I am, is usually jollof rice/fried rice/plain rice and beef/fish/turkey/chicken/aya mase and sometimes with salad/coleslaw (homemade) . . .bad . .I know LOL

Oga likes his okele and beans. I have very bad memories of weevels in beans in boarding school and that has put me off beans for life angry

What kind of coaching are you working on? fitness trainer/dietician/stylist/mental ?

Whats better? diet fizzy drinks e.g sprite Zero or orange juice?

Which of our foods are low in carbs apart from beans?

Should we continue here or should we open a thread. I dont want to be kicked out of the boys room cool

Thank you

P.s do you have a dansiki to match your abeti aja
