Firstly, Emasculate means to deprive of masculine vigor or spirit; to weaken; to render effeminate; to vitiate by unmanly softness.

Nairaland has a way of emasculating, from the feminist threads, to the scared cowards asking for help on relationship issues.

I was disgusted with the nonsense missclassy and others typed on the Freeze guy husband battery thread. I saw it as Nairaland guys accepting to tolerating nonsense from abusive females and run out of the relationship.
Compare the comments influenced by feminist on wife battery threads. My point: Get tough and loving at the same time, and a woman won't dare slap or abuse You.

...was on tumblr, and I was in a female's blog, and she was all about how men are scared as shit. Scared of responsibility, scared of females, scared of challenges etc and I realised taking most advice here on Nairaland unconsciously emasculates.

Also, Po.rn and Homosexuality is to blame, including woman wrapper mentality most guys exhibit. WOMEN SHOULDN'T ALWAYS BE PLEASED, THEY NEED FIRMNESS AND PHYSICAL AND MENTAL TOUGHNESS TOO.

I haven't written the perfect post, but I'll encourage guys to google "how to act like an alpha male", "modern man emasculation" and books on how to build yourself in this confused society.

The Vikings had the perfect picture of what a real man was supposed to be like, so damn the feminist and weak man version of what society wants men to act like.

I don't know if you're one of those guys who were insulting the dude for opening up about the abuse he was facing instead of handling it like a man? If you are, I just want to tell you that he did the right thing. What does handling it like a man even mean? Being violent too? Not saying anyone won't understand if he retaliates in self defense. I would understand that. But which method ultimately serves his purpose? It is The one he used. Therefore bringing awareness for those guys who are abused yet decided to 'man up' and swallow it to show strength.
If he had done otherwise, people would just dismiss it as a case of two-fighting and one more opportunity for abused guys to tell their story goes under the rug.

Anyway who's an alpha male? Nairalanders be on our necks with this term all the time.
What does it even mean? Someone who can hit back?

Dude was obviously emasculated, and attracted pity for his condition, and who cares what people think. Treat a bit.ch like a bit.ch, and a lady like a lady.

Also, You're indirectly saying girls can beat up themselves when one of them is being stupid, but shouldn't be the case if its a guy because of physical strength. So, why didn't she consider this?

I'll answer, its cause she knows the dude will act like a stupid sissy so she physically abuses him.

I'm not saying he shouldn't have retaliated because of physical strength. Like I said before, if he hit back in self defense, anyone including me would understand that.
Y'all need to stop being emotional and actually read what someone is typing. undecided

Back to the point I was making that you didn't grab the first time. There's a steretype that only guys are physically abusive in relationships. The more a guy responds with violence the more the stereotype grows. The harder it would be for people not to judge the guy first before even knowing he was acting in self defense. If more people like him spoke up, it would disabuse some people of the notions that some women are not violent. Thereby helping pave a way for justice in cases of marital abuse where the guy is the victim. That fact that it's not as commonly known as the reverse does not mean the few men who are subjected to such can't have protection.

Therefore, and moreover.

If more people like him spoke up, it would disabuse some people of the notions that some women are not violent. Therefore, gentlemen, be prepared to accept and tolerate bitchslapping for the public good. grin. Oh my, oh my.

Lol, I thought I was going to read something more extensive about the real emasculation of black men going on in the real world, which is more like a systematic destruction of black masculinity. And it varies and takes different shapes, depending on what part of the planet you reside in. grin

Anyway, in as much as the internet/cyberspace is part of the overall body of it, and it might subconsciously trigger some of it, depending on how steadfast you're in maintaining the real black/African male masculinity - you just can't take the shenanigans and facade seriously. Yes, the cyberworld has a lot of manginas, white knights, ninnies, and sissies who thrive in overly pleasing some characters for some e-chics that they'll never see their panties. Thus creating a faux image/representation of what black/African male masculinity should reflect to undiscerning young chaps. But that doesn't negate the fact that the lousy chirping birds on the internet are inconsequential in the real scheme of things and the real war against the black/African male in the real world. The internet is basically just like the smoking section in ya place of work where you go for a few sticks of gays, or ya local pub - where you chat to just about anyone you meet there about nothing and, everything you talk about ends there.

The real emasculation is out on the streets. It started during the slavery and colonial days (still ongoing), and since then, black masculinity has been a caricature of what it should be - taking the shape of either hyper(ultra)-masculinity and/or passive-masculinity, to create a faux image and cover what's more or less what has become the generational weakness of the black/African male. Black/African masculinity has its nucleus in being the provider/protector, with loads of miscellaneous things on the peripheral. However, due to the systematic emasculation of the black man (which is still ongoing) - the average black/African male these days exhibit either hyper-masculinity (showing excessive emotions through feminization) in terms of extreme violence, and criminal/brutish behavioural patterns. Or passive-masculinity in terms of homoerotic and mangina-esque behavioural patterns (being gay is the new black). The two polar extremes.

Leave the internet birds alone and focus on how you can educate the youngins in ya immediate environment, on how to find the balance between these two extremes - which is what the real black masculinity should represent. They have systematically destroyed the image of the black man. The black man is either portrayed as an excessively violent animal/criminal or a flaming phaggot, and we need to help future generations. Each one, teach one. The black/African man shall rise again.

What more can I say? That dude really fumbled.
If I am beaten by a woman and I don't want to retaliate, why'd I bring it to a cyberspace and seek empathy from people?.
Ladies know I won't hit them first even at extreme provocation but will retaliate brutally when she throws the first punch - that's how I have been structured since childhood.

Lastly, why should I read some stupiid books on how to be a man and bla bla when my parents instilled a great man in me, I'd rather waste the time reading storybooks if Novels is out of reach - trying to fit in amongst bandwagons.

Lastly, there are girls even when a man retaliate, would end up still beating him up as I have heard first hand stories of a woman beating her husband mercilessly when they engaged fist to fist.
P.S - Those men are strong not weaklings...

When somebody clearly says "the dude was right to name and shame the abuser who was abusing him" and some ediot interpretes it to mean that he should tolerate being slapped, we don't need anyone to tell us someone's head is not screwed on tight.

Lol nairaland. Whatever you say, anyone who already feels like they have issues with you will find a way to try and twist it into something else.

Clear case of "I must post something contrary".

SMH at fools. Yes I guess it's better the way other guys shout him down for speaking up. Cococandy must be wrong either way. If she tells him to shut up, she has to be wrong. If she encourages him for speaking up, she's also wrong. If she tells him he did well for leaving her she's also wrong.

Somebody get a life.

"yay! Somebody bashed coco today is my happy day. I must jubilate in style and post memes to show my happiness" grin. Pathetic.

If someone ignored me for so long, I'd have enough self respect to snob them too. Not going around seeking their attention and showing that I'm happy when another person is taking digs at them.

I hope whoever is in charge won't run to lock the thread when I wake up from my beauty sleep and decide to spank someone. Usually I only give like half back and their boot lickers will start swarming all over the place. That's when they will know coco is rude.

Whoever is in charge of that dog should leash him for the sanity of this thread. Ekwusi go m.

I can never ever support domestic violence, so I don't get why you are including the feminist bit to fulfill your agenda of dampening the intricate issues feminism tackles. If Freeze feels he has been abused, he has every right to alert the whole world about it. There are many men suffering in silence because they are trying to portray a semblance that they are not. Some African women are even bigger in size than their husbands and you want to deceive yourself things can't go awry and the woman pounce on the man, lol, but the man can't say it because he wants to stand among the so called 'unemasculated' men of Nigeria that cannot build a good society for his women and children.

Well I know what alpha is not. I know doing stuff that will land one in jail is not part of it.

As for what it is, I guess it's subject to individual definition. Everyone considers themselves alpha. I just wish they'd be kinder to those who don't fit their profile of who an alpha is.
