How many times must we fight.
So many of us don't know what's happening outside this country?
Go check out countries that broke out of each other and find out their present condition.
America refused Confederate state because they knew what it would have caused.
Is that not the America most of you are dreaming to still visit today?
Let's think well before we start what we may never finish.
War is not as it seems.
It can wipe out a whole lineage.
Let's avoid it please.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words but in the context of nigerian politics, these maps are worth millions of words. Fellow Niger deltans, please study this map carefully so that when sudden mischeivous groups come tomorrow to tell you that igbos want to steal your oil, then you know the right answer to give them.

The war aim and (final) solution properly speaking of the entire problem, is to discriminate against the Igbos and in their own interest. Such discrimination would include above all the detachment of those oil-rich territories in the Eastern Region, in addition, the Igbos' freedom of movement would be restricted, to prevent their renewed penetration into other parts, leaving any access to the sea to the Igbos, is quite out of the question, "(Federal Nigerian Minister speaking to E. C. Schwarzenback, Swiss Review of Africa, February 1968).

That was and remain the policy upon which one Nigeria was built, economic and political strangulation of Igboland was the agenda of the "victors".

Whenever you see an Igbo man shouting one Nigeria, 3 things are involved:

1. He is mentally retarded and should in that case be forgiven.

2. He has selfish interests to protect in Nigeria, it doesn't matter if the rest of his people burns and are denigrated, as one Nigeria must be preserved to serve his selfish interests, which might range from political, emotional( love) , economic and other senseless interests

3. He has no knowledge of his Igbo history. You know they don't teach history in Nigerian schools. His Nigerian education system failed him, and worst still, his parents failed him, for not teaching him about the history of his people. He ultimately gets to learn the history of his people through outsiders and detractors, and of course the version of history they give him is a false one albeit anti- Igbo, so he develops self hate for himself and his group. We have many of them on NL. This happens more to Igbos born and raised in Lagos and other non Igbo parts of Nigeria.

Any mentally stable, unselfish Igbo man who knows the history of Igbo people in Nigeria, is innately Biafran to the core.

He might disagree with methods used by Igbo groups to achieve Biafra, but he is never pro Nigerian, Never!

OK, Mr. Peace, No body is instigating war rather the current Nigerian unjust system is. If nothing changes in Nigeria, starting from the implementation of the confab, then WAR is inevitable.

We have long dealt with this topic on Nairaland. Igbo speaking people from Imo, Abia, Rivers and Delta States has 80% of Nigerian onshore oil but the bigger question is the ratio of onshore to offshore. Akwa Ibom for example has no oil onshore but has an offshore that already cancels our entire onshore. Another big question is how many are capped and how many are active in contributing to oil export.

Igbos are not and have never been oil dependent people. It is only in recent years that we have witnessed elements of oil community disturbances but still very minimal. One of the major weapons used to divide Igbos is the availability of oil which resulted in splitting of communities between Southeast and South-South. These include Ndoki divided into Rivers and Abia, Asa divided into Rivers and Abia, Ngor divided into Rivers and Imo, Egbema divided into Rivers and Imo among others.

This picture is a major reason why they don't want the SS and SE to be united. Just look at how the SS/SE is riddled with oil and gas deposit. Just see how piplines which carry the wealth of Nigeria cris-cross everywhere. Later they will say that the Igbo man is after the oil of the minorities when it is evident that we Igbo are already hugely blessed in Oil and Gas. This is the real reason they want "one Nigeria". This is the real reason they fear Biafra.

Last time you guys owned a significant part of lagos properties, now its a significant part of the oil in Nigeria. While i have no reason to contest the succession dreams of the south east, trying to claim things that are not yours as though they are will only lead to an unwanted bloodshed at the end of the day. Do you people want to put your families through that again?

As per the map, it hides the major facts while you all don't know which is that oil production in the south east remains minute.
1. Try and trace the borders of each state rather than looking at only the dots and see how many actually fall into the eastern states. Take a reference of the refinery sign , which is actually in rivers state and the closest to it is Ogoni land , then Akwa ibom state.

2. Shell Bonga field, Chevron Agbami field, Total Akpo field, Exxon Erha field, Total/Exxon Usan field all produce an upwards of 150,000 barrels a day. These 5 deepwater fields produce about 1million barrels of our approx 2million production. Now divide the remaining by this multitude of land fields. You will see that they are all marginal producers.

3. If oil production is that great in the east, the states will get higher derivatives. It cannot be hidden. If you want to argue it name the villages that actually have oilfields in the Imo and Abia lets see how many you come up with. Also find out how many barrels per day these fields produce. Maybe that will stop all of you from this wrong information.

There's just too many lies, fraud, and injustice, and even campaign against a strong Eastern Nigeria.
One of my friends today told me that he stumbled upon a document (from the British archives) that showed how the British RIGGED the Southern Cameroonian plebiscite that would have had them join Eastern Nigeria instead of Cameroun.
Yes, the British always wanted to hem in the Igbo (the lead ethnic group in the East) to make the East easier for exploitation.
The Bameleke of Camerouns rioted after that plebiscite, and 400 of them were jailed for it. They wanted to join the Igbo of Eastern Nigeria because the Bamileke are just as enterprising as Igbo and had zero fears of the Igbo, but the British feared a strong Eastern region that would have resisted what is happening today in Nigeria.

Our people just need to THINK, seek information and discern, else everybody in the East will be victim of a very old elaborate scheme.

My "SS" brothers, I come with love.

If Nigeria disintegrate , I forsee a union of Biafran nations comprising of nations that reasons like Igbos .

nobody is saying we depend on oil...This thread is aimed to debunk the notion that why we tag SS in our quest is because of oil...it's never because of oil but because of similar political, economic and cultural ideology and also to form a stronger force against potential enemy angry

^^^In addition to what you posted, just take a look at the number of oil fields in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni axis and you'll begin to understand why the map of Rivers state unnaturally extends upwards to grab that oil-rich portion of Igboland away from Imo and Anambra states to place in a state in which at the time they made sure Ndigbo had no influence in.....hence the efforts to cajole, encourage, and maybe even threaten the likes of the Ikwerre and the Ogba to deny their Igbo heritage!

I've been asking why Egbema had to be split in two and placed in two separate states, and i'm yet to get an answer from anyone!

Does anyone really think that if say the Yoruba or Hausa/Fulani occupied the geographical space Ndigbo occupy today in the area formally known as the Eastern Region that Ogba, Egbema, Ndoni, Ikwerre, Obigbo, etc wouldn't either be part of Imo, Anambra or Abia, or wouldn't be part of a sixth riverine Igbo state.....and still retain its Igbo identity? Take a look at state creation in the South West and North West, paying particular attention to boundaries of said states, access to sea, addition of oil bearing communities from other ethnicities, huge number of LGAs, and even number of states (as with the case of the North West).....check all this and you'll begin to see how they've used their control of the center to favour themselves (sometimes unjustly) while they did everything possible to shrink Igboland, deny us access to the sea and deny us full benefit of the resources God in his infinite wisdom decided to bless us with!

And people still wonder why i so dislike this evil country!

Theres no much difference to it. If the deposit was high it would have been exploited by now. Its much much cheaper to exploit a land location than going deep offshore. So the companies would have definately gone for it, post civil war.
Addax has operations at a place called Izombe, some few mins from Oguta. If the deposit was high, the production would have been really good. But its not.

Don't get me wrong, i don't mind the SE having oil deposits,as it will be beneficial to their children and generation unborn(hopefully). I'm only saying graphs that don't tell the entire picture should not be used to deceive the so many gullible minds we have here in nairaland.

First correction, i am not yoruba. Never have and never will be. I'm from the Niger delta and i live and work there.

Second, your tables are completely wrong. Funny you quote the same NNPC that has no clue what is being produced in Nigeria. Your first table says USAN produces about 3.7 million bbls. Thats just ridiculous. The entire FPSO storage cannot even take more than 2 miilion barrels, and its topside facility is about 180K bpd. Prove me wrong if you have any other facts. Your second table shows nothing for Agbami production. I didnt even bother to look at the remaining tables. No time to waste on rubbish.

Third, pls i beg of you. Go find out where IMO river field is located! This is embarrassing. Hint: Its Imo river but its not in Imo state.
