There is no standard format for writing a CV joor .... it just must be articulate and representational. I have applied for a job in the banking sector before and the only one reason why I was considered was because of my NYSC experiences which I listed as my duties...... not the rest. Some people will just go and copy things from Estonia and post here. Have we not learnt that HR is Europe is different from HR in Nigeria? You cant copy processes in the EU and dump on Nigerian, you have to tailor it to what d market wants. We are naturally noisy people, if you CV isnt noisy about a few important things, sorry for you. often times, you want to adapt with the Posters standards because the employers are Foreign companies, but the foreign companies engage local firms to head hunt, these hunters usually require heavily loaded CVs to do a profile of candidates for their client. That happened to me once, i tailored my CV to what the hiring company would prefer, but the HR advised that I copy and paste my job description under each work experience. Also, Lets not forget that Rookies often times does shortlisting, they are looking for word-matches on your experience listing. If your achievement doesnt state or relate to the particular word/task they require, they SKIP! People differ, CEOs differ, HR differs.... Population and labour market differs too. 2 Likes |

Recruiters want to see this... recruiters don't want to see that... Abeg make una leave story for the gods. I worked for 2 days before I even submitted my CV. Just pray for God's favour and be VERY GOOD at whatever you do, jobs will look for you. I recently facilitated the hiring of my classmate in my organisation. Just yesterday, I was begging him to send his résumé to the organisation's mail so that they could create his profile. The truth is, most of these organisations already have the positions filled. The recruitment is just a mere formality. The best they can do is to hire 4 out of about 20 of the available slots through the rigorous recruitment process. #Na?9ja?we?dey?# 2 Likes |

You may now start selecting and tailoring the required information to meet a specific job requirement. Essence of CV is to get you an Interview .... Interview gangan is where you display everything in you even if it gonna be within 5mins......... by the time you now removed these 20 items .... no be blank sheet go remain which one will now get you interview, bearing in mind that among these 20items are the only achievements some people can boast of !!! 1 Like |

Screw those gaddam recruiters. Everyone can do anything in the office, what with computers and SaaS etc. A CV is a CV is a CV even if written with crayola or monkey ink. The essential gist of a CV is: i schooled here, i did this, give me that job. Give us a gaddam job already, stop this regimented crap. Its tiresome spending days garnishing a CV only to read that a desired format is required. You then follow that format religiously only to have your CV tossed into the crapper because of frivolous excuses that you used Times New Roman font rather than Helvetica. Or that you should've typed your CV on an Apple laptop, or the PDF format you sent your CV was 2 kb more than required. Now even saying one knows Excel and PowerPoint is wrong? Bleep this crap. Give niggas jobs. There are extremely talented, inventive, and genuinely skilled people here on nairaland and online elsewhere whose talents are being wasted fighting about politics, phones and virginity.
