Hello VO,
I read online in 2 separate documents that eligibility for drop-box is 1 year/ 2 years. Which is correct?
Also, is it advisable to do drop box since I used my B1/B2 for birthing and I'm not allowed to send my proof of payment of my bills with drop box application?
Thank you.

Hello all!

We see all the questions that come in. Thank you for coming back! A few observations:

It is very common for people to advise Officers that they have a base salary and get allowances or bonuses at various times. A good rule of thumb is to state the salary that you feel best reflects your income, both on the DS-160 and in your interview.

When you come for an interview, we assume you know why you chose a school, why you want to study the major that you’ve chosen, why you are going to a particular place, etc. Visa decisions are primarily based on the interview, so memorizing questions and answers is never a good idea. We can’t say this enough -- being honest and straightforward is the best policy.

weldone sir, pls i got an offer from USA dat directed me to usiservice@usa.com as the United States immigration email address how authentic is the said e-mail address?

Dear Visa Officer:

First all thank you for taking the time to answer all our questions. I am an indian citizen with a US green card since Aug 2014.
I got married recently to an indian citizen in india. I am going to file I130 for her in the next couple of weeks.
I am planning to apply B2 visitor visa for my wife to visit me temporarily during the upcoming thanksgiving and Christmas for a short period of time (2 or 3 months) after filing the I130 petition and then return promptly.

It would be of great help if you can provide with your response on the following questions.

1) My attorney says that it is not advisable to travel to US on any kind visa during the process of I130 petition. What is the reason for that?
2) Is there any law or rule that says it is not allowed to travel on a Non-Immigrant visa with a pending I130?
3) Will my application for a non immigrant visa in any way effect my I130 petition?

Thank You for your time. Awaiting your response.

dear VO,

myself and family recently got our non immigrant visa a fews weeks back then the plan was to go for vacation in July but something came up at work which i have to supervise and i cant allow my wife and two kids go on thier own as this is their 1st time of travelling.

i have two options:

1. Wait till september and go alone as my kids will be back in school by then and cant skip school to travel.
2. wait till April next year and go as a family when everyone hopefully should be on vacation again.

people had told me that if non of us travel at the initial stipulated time ( july 2015) as filled in our form we may be denied entry and any period we intend to enter the US.

is it true? and will any of the options stated above cause a problem at the port of entry?

Good morning, pls am new to this site . I need to ask a question. I went for visitor visa interview with my daughter on 6th July 2015 and our visa was approved . However I av been notified by the DHL pick up center that my daughter's passport is ready for pick up but they haven't notified me of my own passport. I tried tracking it on their website but it says it's still at the embassy.
From ur experience do u think there's a problem cod am a bit worried. Thanks for ur time.

Hello Muslimah1,

If there were a problem, we would let you know. Sometimes processing takes longer on one visa than another, and sometimes passports submitted together get separated and sent out separately.

Hi VO i hope you can answer my question genuinely. I am a senior officer in a bank and i and my wife intend to apply for a visiting Visa before the year runs out on a virgin passports.

I have never travelled out of Nigeria. I have a family of four and live in my own house. Is it true that i will be denied a visa because its a virgin passport? What are my chances that i wont be denied.

When applying what are the necessary documents that i must come along with? Will be glad if you can provide more information.

Regards.

Hello enilowo,

Many applicants are approved each day who have never traveled outside of Nigeria. Having a virgin passport is not an automatic refusal. However, a forged passport stamp or foil could lead to a permanent ban from receiving US visas in the future.

As for paperwork, outside of your current passport (and any old passports you might have) and confirmation page there is nothing required.

Dear VO,

Please can you mention what exactly are the things you need to know to answer my question?

The immigration officers mentioned a few things

1. That the point of entry (state) i indicated in my interview was different from the one i used
2. I was travelling too heavy like i was relocating

Basically they said to them i mispresented myself that i lied and they do not believe that i am going to the USA just to visit.
That i did not have enough funds on me and i didnt have a return ticket including several other things they pointed out including not having any physical proofs or documentation (i was willing to show them but they said i should have printed them out). Honestly i was innocently visiting and because i did not have any intentions of breaking any law i would say i was non-challant about all the things they mentioned.

I will just like to know the consequences and corrective measures to situations like this?

Thank you for your time

Hello iContribute,

It sounds like you received a 7(A)(i)(I) refusal (and possibly something else - it should be written in your passport). Your expedited removal from the port-of-entry carries with it a five year ban from the US. If, however, the US Customs and Border Protection also found you to be 6(C)(i), which covers fraud and misrepresentation, you received a permanent ban.

Is there anything called application for visa review for a denied B1/B2 tourist visa application for U.S. Heard from 2 different immigration Lawyers that though appeal is not allowed for B1/B2 visa but a request letter could be forwarded for a review after a visa applicant is not approved for the visa application.

Hello cornoil,

By applying again, you receive another review by a fresh set of eyes. There is no appealing non-immigrant visa decisions; it is entirely the decision of the interviewing officer.

Dear VO,

Thanks for providing this platform. I have previously applied 10 years ago (on my old passport) for F-1 visa but was denied. At the time, there was error on the year I was born.

I have since corrected the error as I have a new passport now and travelled to different countries. I would like to reapply for a visa and want to know if the error will affect my next application. What document do I need to bring?

Please advise.

Hmmmm....interesting read here. I am an entrepreneur building a technology company. I am quite young (28 yrs) and married. I worked before i resigned to pursue my dream of building this business. And I want to go to the states to understudy the operations of a company I would love to partner with.

Real facts: I do not have much money in my account even though I can sponspor the trip plus 2 weeks stay comfortably. Dont worry about hotels, i will use airbnb and share accommodation.

2. I stammer. I guess the interviewer will think im not truthful.

3. I dont have the money to waste on trial, so i guess i want it to succeed.

4. I come across as a comedian most times so you will think I am not serious. Well, I am serious enough to have 4 employees.

It appears young people like me are up against the entire federal power of the US as regards visa.

I intend aplly by november......by then i would have reduced the money in my account further....i guess thats added good news.

What do you advise ( even though i know you do not advise)? Should I come to US or look for an alternative partner in China, to further empower the chinese economy over the US economy?

No hurt intended, i am very serious while having fun.

God bless USA but only after God has finished blessing Nigeria more.

Thanks for your time.

Hello latitidejavu,

Sounds like you're convinced you won't get a visa! If that's the case, perhaps you should reconsider whether applying is a prudent decision at this time. If you don't think you're qualified, how are you going to convince a consular officer that you are?

Good Day Ma/Sir

USA Embassy is not been sincere to Nigerias, why becos, on there website wat they quoted there is not wat they are giving out to us, my case is still on Administrative Processing Required, and On d 13th of dis month, will make me eight month, which is like two hundred and seventy days. Do I have to wait for 365 days? Because have waited for 270 days and still no result?
Ma/sir pls advise me if I should apply with another 1-20 instead of waiting for a result that is not sure?
Pls reply back

Hello krisnwanegbo,

Sorry if we're repeating ourselves, but: every case is different, so there is no defined period of time. We work to process every application as quickly as possible and then always contact the applicant as soon as administrative processing is complete

Dear VO,

Thanks for the helpful explanations you offer on Nairaland. Please I need your advice in my situation:

I am a US citizen (by birth) but live and work in Nigeria. Last year my wife applied for a US tourist visa (B2) and scheduled her interview for April 14, 2014. I had a conference to attend in Canada with my wife in May 2014 and so she also applied for a Canadian visa on March 19, 2014. However, the Canadian embassy the not review her application till May 2, 2014 during which time her passport was held by the embassy. Unfortunately we did not reschedule the US visa interview early enough and so when we tried to do so, we got a message that the interview could no longer be rescheduled.

Now there is this other conference which my wife and I were to attend in July 2015 and so she reapplied for a non-immigrant visa (B1) and filled a new DS-160. Her interview was scheduled for January 21, 2015. Unknown to us, the system picked up the DS-160 for the visa application which she submitted last year. We discovered this on January 20, less than 24 hours to her interview on January 21. Again it was not possible to correct the error and she was denied the visa, most probably because the purpose of her trip (conference) was different from what was contained in the DS-160 linked to her application.
Being a US citizen, I decided to apply for an immigrant visa for my spouse. Somewhere along the process, it has become obvious that my wife would likely not be granted an immigrant visa since I am not domiciled in the US.

This where I need your advice - if my spouse applies for a non-immigrant visa in future, would the fact that I have filed an immigrant petition for her behalf prevent her from getting a visa? We just need a need visa that would enable her accompany me on trips because I do travel to the US from time to time.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hello Guest1,

That's a good question. Many people are issued non-immigrant visas each day who also have pending or closed immigrant petitions. As long as there weren't any accusations of fraud in your filing, this shouldn't be a problem. You will need to demonstrate, as you said is the case, that your domicile is in Nigeria and that your wife does not intend to abandon it.

Dear VO,
I have an aunt who wishes to travel to the US to visit her son and wife who left this country through DV lottery... 3yrs ago...
Her son in the US is writing to the embassy as regards sponsoring the mother for her visit.
His mother was denied the B1/B2 visa sometime in 2002. But she has never applied again the But she has travel to other country before.
Will the letter of sponsorship given by her son n daughter inlaw be of any assistance during the interview since she is applying for b1/b2 visit to them over there. Thanks.

Hello fred06,

Letters of sponsorship are not required in order to obtain a B1/B2 visa.
