carlkenny: The ranking is done yearly. It's not done by land mass, or population. Majorly by 1. the influence of the graduates of the schools after leaving the school. 2. The consistency in the academic calender of the school 3. The Web presence of the school. 4. Facilities and infractures of the school. |

scholes0: So what? We don't care if Asians, Europeans or Aliens built these schools...fact is they were built and are here in SA and are world class institutions. We, blacks run them. Been running them for the last 20yrs efficiently so....that's why they are still the best. Now, over to you self made Africans....what can you present? I will be proud myself if you as self made Africans can present something of note which every black man on the continent can be proud of....sadly nothing....until then my friend you have got nothing to say. 2 Likes |

[b]HISTORY PRIMITIVESNESS AND ARAB CONTACTS nigeria between 1BC-1500AD All we know is MUD ARCHITECTURE AND STONE SCULPTURES NOTHING MUCH. Black tribes fight over land and TRIBALISM STARTS. Arabs cross the Sahara desert and introduce Islam to northern tribes like Hausa and Fulani, enslave them. Thats how the "DASHIKI CAME". Their dress code to dashikis imittaing their MASTERS OF THAT TIME. EUROPEAN CONTACTS 1500-1860 Europeans ship around the coast of west africa and buy slaves from their chiefs and kings (the Dangotes of that era). Whites bought slaves with MIRRORS AND UMBRELAS etc..in exchange for millions of nigerian slaves. 3,5 million slaves were taken on the coasts of nigeria (BIGHT OF BENIN/LAGOS AREA AND BIGHT OF BIAFRA/SE nigeria). 1 million of those never made it to the NEW WORLD AND DIED ON THE ATLANTIC OCEAN during slave revolts and sicknesses. Most of these were sold to Brazil, Colombia, Cuba,Haiti and Jamaica and other islands like Barbados,Grenada etc... COLONIZATION 1860-1960 British colonized nigeria for over 100 years, 2% of the nigerian population under the British rule were LITERATE. A new currency is used the nigeria pounds. nigeria is divided into 2 "SOUTH AND NORTH" since they noticed there were conflicts between these two that led to ATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE. While the rest were CHEAP LABOUR just like elsewhere in British colonies. In 1950s British DISCOVERED OIL AND GAS in SE nigeria. Oil and gas economy of today is started by BRITISH. British start building new buildings like banks, schools, churchs etc..and railways, bridges, roads etc... In late 1950s British start LEAVING nigeria and by 1960 they are FREE from colonization. 1960-2015 They're free and TRIBALISM AND RELIGIOUS BIGOTRY of 1BC starts again HISTORY shows they're not self made as MR IBU claims. Lagos during BRITISH RULE 1950s-1960. Atcually the word "Lagos" isn't a Yoruba or nigerian word. LAGOS WAS A SLAVE PORT FOR PORTUGESE AN THEN LATER BRITISH SLAVERS.

Back to the topic, all S.A. top universities were built from GOLD AND DIAMOND MINING MONEY. Its a known fact even during the "RHODES MUST FALL CAMPAIGN" white stuents like WHITE PREVELAGE ASSOC. lectured other white kids on how they got their status today and how varsities like UCT were built. Again if u visit the UCT library HISTORY section u will see it all and see that black labour built UCT and many S.A varsities. From 1st thread...by OP he gave u history but u chose to be an OKONKWO like many Igbos. 1. UNIVERSITY OF CAPE TOWN Established 1st October 1829, optimism is the official creed of this university, which has the motto “Spes Bona” (“Good Hope”). The University of Cape Town has consistently ranked at the top of best universities in Africa. The University of Cape Town started off as a College with a small tertiary-education facility that grew substantially after 1880, when the discovery of gold and diamonds in the north – and the resulting demand for skills in mining – gave it the financial boost it needed to grow. The College developed into a fully fledged university during the period 1880 to 1900.
