charix: Abj is not a place for struggling people. @ post everything is correct expect the transportation. Abuja is way cheaper. Taxis go for less than N500 in abj. But in Lagos the same journey will cost you tripple or more. 3 Likes |

Emmatdayo: You may need to review this post. Lagos has affordable and expensive locations and Abuja also has expensive and cheap locations. Besides, Abuja transportation is far cheaper than Lagos. And abuja also has several alternative means of transportation. Etc. Abuja is far far better than Lagos. I've lived in both cities and I prefer Abuja. 6 Likes |

For me I'll choose neither. Apart frm the port and industries in lagos, nothing I admire about lagos. That city no get civility at all. Everyone the behave like thug. Everytin na struggle. Na for lagos I discover say people d proud to be agbero. Agbero get office n recognition. I rep Cross River d people's paradise and Canaan city Calabar! I prefer abj a million times. One can get lost in lagos ie rituals,thieves, agberos, flood, horrible gut wrenching traffic, ill organisation, crowds, last chance bus, I could go on and on. I ve stayed in both and will still prefer Abuja. One thing about dis town is dat wt a lil patience and God s mercy, one day u must hammer. 10 REASONS WHY ABUJA IS BETTER THAN LAGOS. 1)Transportation in Abuja is cheaper than that of Lagos 2) Abuja has a better road network than Lagos because it is a well planned city. 3) Abuja does not experience flooding like in Lagos because the drainage system in Abuja is more effective. 4) Abuja is neater and cleaner than Lagos 5) Abuja does not have hell of traffic jams and traffic congestions like in Lagos 6) Life in Abuja is less stressful than in Lagos 7) Foodstuffs are generally cheaper in Abuja than in Lagos due to the location of Abuja in the middlebelt and north where farming is mostly done in the country.  Abuja is more serene, quiet and calm than Lagos which is always buzzling and noisy all the time.9) Apart from the issue of Boko haram bombing which occurs in Abuja rarely, Abuja on the average is safer than Lagos where the criminal rate is generally higher, armed robbers, 419ers, Human ritualists and all manners of negative vices of the society. 10) Abuja is more beautiful than Lagos 22 Likes |

Emmatdayo:Are you talking of this Lagos i am in or where?. I go for Abuja. Traffick jam in lagos alone made it the worst place to live in Nigeria. I am shocked that some of us are now comfortable with chaotic and rowdy life here. Imagine a place where an average lagosians spend 4-8 hrs everyday. I hope you are not living/working in Apapa area or else you will be losing an average of 4-10hrs. Where is the glory of your 10 reasons you mentioned. That said, lagos remains the land of great opportunities. Abuja-central city is more civilised and modern but few opportunities when compare to the giant called Eko. 3 Likes |

I'm sure d author of dis piece has never reside in abuja, or if he did, maybe it was Nyanya/Mararaba axis. Saying transportation and car drop (among other things) is cheaper in lagos dan abuja is a clear indication that you are very far 4rm d truth. 8 Likes |

Lagos is far ahead of Abuja.For God sake, Abuja is a young city. Lagos is culturally a Yoruba society and it's the reason why the poor are assimilated economically to prevent uprising. No matter how expensive anything is,you must sell quantities that the poor can afford.If you sell food,you will not sell 'per plate' like it's done in most Igbo/ south South areas,and if the people can't afford to pay for soup you can still sell without soup. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Emmatdayo:Having stayed in both places I still prefer Lagos .I think anybody that ll prefer Abuja is a boring introvert, I even went to d uk and I started missing Lagos. Is it d street credibility or the no dulling lifestyle or the entertainment everywhere or d beaches or the olosho things. OP in as much you have made good your point, I want to say here and I stand to be corrected, transportation in abuja is way better and cheaper than lagos and also abuja is a place you can bring up a child because of the calm nature also if you want night life then you are more secured in abuja, there might not be many social activities in terms of big shows and event, buh OP I lived in lagos for more than 20 years and right now I find it difficult adapting whenever I come to lagos because of the hush hush nature, Abuja still remains the best option. Those who have lived in both cities and yet prefer Lagos to Abuja can be likened to psychologically impaired females who prefer abusive/violent lovers than gentle/caring ones. For normal human beings who value quality of life and sanity, Abuja is a billion times more livable and FAR FAR FAAAAARRRRRR better than Lagos. I have lived in Lagos for two decades, and I currently shuttle between both cities, so I know what I'm talking about. From the first time I set foot in Abuja some years ago, it was love at first sight, and I instantly knew within me that this was a place that I would call home sooner than later. It was a breath of fresh air...Fantastic city (by Nigerian standards) that oozed sanity, tranquility, power, and opportunity. Subsequent visits accelerated my love for the city and opened my eyes to the hell that I have been enduring in Lagos. 11 Likes |

How come no one is talking about the BH factor in Abuja? You go church na bomb, you go mammy market go shark, na bomb! You go enter bus sef on a Monday morning to work na bomb! And in terms of cost of living, Abuja is generally cheaper (transport, etc), with the exception of accommodation and maybe services (mechanics, phone repairers and such). Security is much better in Abuja too, partly because of the controlled population in the main city - largely due to the exorbitant accommodation costs. Without meaning to sound insensitive, it is probably a good idea for things to remain this way. I dread the day that Abuja would become an all-comers affair - with all the criminal elements and other undesirable characters trooping in to make this city less safe and less livable than it currently is. Population explosion must be discouraged here by any means necessary. Abuja should not be allowed to decline to the level of Lagos were robbers, area boys, street gangs, cultists, and all categories of animals are on rampage in virtually every corner. If artificially high house rents is the way to keep these nuisances out of the city, then so be it. 3 Likes |
