What in the world we see in Pedro I cannot fathom... Apart from the fact that he "hustles", I see no positive he will bring to an already 'confused' setup. He is better off staying put at barca.

The thing about Pedro's signing(if it goes through) is dat LVG can bench him without fuss n we fans won't complain cos he won't be signed for £54m

whether or not he likes south Americans is not an issue to gloat about.....
Yorubas like to include significant amount of oil in their soup
Ibos dont...

That doesnt make one better than the other......just a matter of choice.

Brazilian footballers are always too full of themselves....they have this attitude of wanting to be seen as football demigods in their respective clubs. So if a coach dislikes Brazilian footballers because of this, he might be justified...my opinions though

All this one na story... Muslera isn't even as good as Valdes. Some of these our transfer dealings / prospective dealings are not just encouraging at all!

You don't know footie. What is so special in Valdez apart from the fact he was in the best team that conceded less due to the fact that their midfield hardly loses the ball? Muslera is a good keeper. Make no mistake, i like Valdez though and wish he didn't fall out with LvG, so he could take over when DDG leaves, but Muslera is fine GK. You need to watch his matches.

Why buy a GK that would likely also need time to adapt to the new league when we can get one here.

We should focus on our attack cos that's where we've the most problem.

This is an article written about him in February 2012.

FERNANDO MUSLERA - THE GREAT WALL OF INSTABUL
...El Nene got off to a shaky start and the inexperienced, young keeper struggled to make the starting 11 until his breakthrough in January 2009 which markeda turning point in his career. Muslera grew in confidence and within a year he had cemented himself as the 7th best goalkeeperin the world according to the IFFHS and had won the Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana, finished 4th in the World Cup and helped Uruguay lift the 2011 Copa America cup.

Muslera shocked many in the footballing world with his decision to join Galatasaray in 2011. The Lions signed him for a €12 million fee and a part exchange deal with Albanian international Lorik Cana. The transfer earnedhim the title of becoming the most expensivekeeper to ever grave the Turkish game and the 5th most expensive keeper in the world
. Nando upon arriving in Istanbul, in an interview on the 'Son Pas' program on Galatasaray TV told the supporters, "Fatih Terim & Taffarel are huge characters, I'm proud to be playing at this club and am reallypleased at being here".Galatasaray had not mounted a serious title challenge for the past three seasons and were in the midst of a crisis.

One of their key weaknesses had been in the goalkeeping department. The Lions had struggled with keepers since the departure of Faryd Mondragon and were desperate to put an end to their goalkeeping miseries. Galatasaray had a major reshuffle last summer, Unal Aysal was elected chairman, legendary manager Fatih Terim was reinstated and Brazilian world cup hero Claudio Taffarel was bought back to the clubas goalkeeping coach. The Lions followed this up by investing heavily in building a team which would bring the glory years.

Muslera was under huge pressure to live up to his reputation and didn't get off to the best start, a few mistakes and blunders raised a few question marks in his first gamefor the club which they lost 2-0 to IBB however, he soon silenced his critics.[b]What Muslera has achieved in his short time at the club has been nothing short of amazing, he has turned one of the leagues worst defensive sides into a team which has conceded the fewest goals in league so far. Muslera has only conceded 18 goals in 25 games, 8 fewer than the experienced Turkishinternational Fenerbahçe's Volkan Demirel. Even more impressively he has kept 12 cleansheets already this season. The 6ft 2 keeper has been in outstanding form for Galatasaray, he commands the defense, deals well with aerial balls, is a brilliant close range shot stopper and has wonderful reflexes. [/b]He has played a key role in the Lions impressive season and is an importantfactor as to why they currently sit 6 points clear at the top of the table. Muslera is also great at judging play, his positional awareness is impressive, he knows when to leave his goal and when to stay put. His one weakness is his occasional lapses in concentration, he did make a few mistakes and rash charges out of goal during his first few games however, he has been more focused since then.Fernando Muslera has already became the sweetheart of the Galatasaray faithful, the supporters love him, the ultras have written chants in his name and he appears to be enjoying his time in Istanbul. In a recent postmatch interview he said, "I'm very hapy at Galatasary, Fatin Terim is a manager respected worldwide. He is a fantastic motivator and our supporters passion is unbelievable." Nando is also relishing the opportunity of working with childhood hero Taffarel, "I remember Taffarel as a player and was lucky enough to watch him play. We have the same aims, everyday I try to learn something new from him."Muslera has gone from strength to strength in the past few seasons and has only just turned 25. With Galatasaray building one of their strongest teams in recent years he could be the goalkeeper to lead the Lions to the successes which have eluded them sincethey rocketed to fame in the late 90's.

He is definitely one to a keep an eye on and we believe that he could break into the world's top 5 goalkeepers by the end of the year.

.........

I think we should make investigation before passing judgement. Gaal and Woodward are not kids. They have an advisor in SAF. So far their signings have been okay. Particular Darmian who was unknown to many English fans.

I didn't see that. Those situations are extremely dangerous situations goalkeepers ordinarily concede from. Did you see the countless one on one he saved? Or were you expecting him to pin penalties. Or pin those double saves from close range?

On Cilesson :

Exclusive - Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal 'doesn't trust' transfer target Jasper Cillessen, claims Peter Schmiechel

Tuesday, August 11, 2015
Peter Schmeichel has told talkSPORT he doesn’t believe Louis van Gaal has “100 per cent trust" in transfer target Jasper Cillessen.

The Ajax goalkeeper is one of the names being linked with the north-west giants as a replacement for David De Gea if, as expected, the Spaniard returns to Spain to join Real Madrid.

But Old Trafford legend Schmeichel has cast doubts on that move, and believes his old club should target Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris if they do lose De Gea.

The great Dane told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: “Cillesen is a good goalkeeper but, if you go back to the World Cup, they [Holland] took him off ahead of a penalty shoot-out [against Costa Rica].

“That tells you there is something there and that [Dutch manager at the time] Van Gaal doesn’t trust him 100 per cent. I wouldn’t like a goalkeeper like that at Manchester United.”

Instead, Schmeichel has joined the chorus hailing Frenchman Lloris as the man to replace De Gea.

“I’d like Lloris to go there,” he added. “He fits the bill. He’s exactly what Man United needs, someone who’s brave enough to sweep up. With [Thibaut] Courtois he is one of only two keepers who controls their box and that’s what United need more than anything.

“And he’s proven in the Premier League and that’s very important.”

on what planet is mulsera even a world class goalie? he keeps clean sheets because uruguay usually plays like stoke fc. they are very physical and only go into attack when they face weaker teams or after they have conceded goals. mulsera at best is like myhill or ben foster. he's not the candidate for an attacking side like man utd.

Man utd plays Aston Villa on Friday

I wan hear say na lack of Friday games dey make EPL teams suck in Europe

this is a one-off incident......caused by this....

Aston Villa's Premier League fixture against Manchester United at Villa Park will be played this coming Friday,14th August.

The match was originally billed as Sky’s Saturday Night Football 5.30pm fixture, but has been rescheduled because of policing concerns due to a planned English Defence League march in Walsall city centre the same day.

The game could not be played on Sunday, as United face Club Brugge on Tuesday night in the Champions League play-off.

A Premier League statement said: “The second match-round of the 2015-16 season includes Aston Villa v Manchester United scheduled for live broadcast on Sky Sports at 7.45pm on Friday 14 August 2015. A Saturday 5.30pm kick-off was initially suggested for this match and West Midlands police confirmed that, under normal circumstances, that would be acceptable.

“However, due to a planned English Defence League march that will take place in the region on Saturday 15 August, and will require police resource, they requested that the Premier League consider avoiding scheduling the match on that date. Manchester United’s participation in the Champions League, and a potential European match the following Tuesday, means that a Sunday slot could not be scheduled with any certainty.”

What rubbish is this? Nottingham forest has won europen cup before does that mean they are big club now if they play man utd? Are the key players that effected the defeat on inter Milan in ucl still the ones that played you last weekend? This is shocking. You played against a terrible tottenham defence that if we recall Ronaldo de lima he will nick hat-trick against. Imagine rooney taking a deep breath, polishing his boot, calculating where the goal post was, after controlling the ball before walker helped him kick the ball in. Do you want to compare the sharp players paraded by Swansea with tired legs in tottenham? How I wish you are the one we meet next, it would have heralded the end of LVG at your old ground.

Van Gaal explains Memphis' position

Louis van Gaal has revealed why he is playing Memphis Depay in a central role as he attempted to explain his tactical system to MUTV.

In an exclusive interview, the Manchester United manager answered a question on whether the formation used on the opening day against Tottenham Hotspur was 4-3-3, 4-4-1-1 or 4-2-3-1, and indicated he prefers a second striker to operate in the spot currently being occupied by Memphis.

"A match is defined in four main moments," said van Gaal. "We call them ball possession, ball possession of the opponent, transition to ball possession and transition to ball possession of the opponent. That you have to see [analyse] in every system at a main moment and then the systems are always different.

"So when you play in ball possession of the opponent it can be 4-3-2-1 but it can also be 4-4-1-1. It is dependable of how you play against an opponent. I hope the spectators are still aware of what I’ve said but it is like that."

In terms of Memphis' place in the line-up, he stated: "I prefer that position to be more a second striker than a third midfielder. I want to see Memphis in that role, of course.

"It is also, for him, maybe more difficult because he has to make the step to the Premier League, to Manchester United, a new club. Maybe I shall use him also at the left-wing position because he knows that much better."

Assuming the purchase of pedro won't stop us from buying a proper CF, it would have been better but from the look of things, it seems LVG is looking to add just one foward/striker to the team.

And yes, aside pedro's "hustling" and scoring beautiful crafted "awoof" goals, I really don't see him as the solution to the impending problems we're gonna have in attack this season.

Part of the problem - An association of midgets cheesy. Add fat Rooney to the mix and what do we have? undecided

Seriously, I woulda preferred a Benzema or a Cavani (at reasonable prices ) - Either of them would make the squad more balanced.

And yes...both players could be frustrating & annoying at times!!
