Wish blender could put Alembic into their future releases. I came across this crowd simulation software known as Massive. One can simulate battle scenes with just two animated xters fighting, without having to crash your system.

But the point is, it can only export as alembic. and in the options lists I could only see Houdini, Lightwave, 3dsmax and Maya Alembic formats. Pity!
Blender Foundation plz do put on Alembic, its even a free code from Sony Imageworks.
I agree with you... have heard a lot about that stuff.

@Yinksey and @Tos87, I met a producer in Asaba, he saw my snakes and elephant, He beam with excitement and all that.....and he gave me a script to devise the necessary CG direction for it..
nice right! I should be jumping......but wahala dey.
Most of the effects for the scenes would involve a lot of motion curves, u know Lightening strikes, Scarlet-witch type plasma beams, dynamic wriggly things that will sprout from the ground and curl tight against someone. Pots shattering and reforming, A guy self-Combusting, Water twirling from a stream and form into a being to speak.......You know all the weird stuff.

BUT I AM JUST a CREATURE GUY, maybe i can do that Water twirling from a stream and form into a being to speak but the rest are way beyond me -I have never done Simulation, and now that I have HYPED myself infront of this moneybag, it would be shame to back down. and they never understand that in CG there are specializations. They expect all the goodies in one.

To cut it all Short, since you guyz are mainly into Environs, Can you Do most of these Dynamics & simulations aforementioned? Or do you know anyone, even from a Maya or Houdini background ( heard Houdini is excellent for dynamics, but I just cant start learning that now). Can we have a liason?

He gave me a week to come up with the Directions. I have been praying for a break in the industry but i was foolishly hoping it would only be creatures?

Ur Responses ASAP would be very much appreciated by a guy getting increasingly jittery!

walahi ....real whahala dey ...is not about doing all this stuffs but believe me you must consider your system spec. And mine can't pull such work. So that is my major probs.
And for other contact... I don't have any for now.

@Tos87. Is your spec limitation only with the RAM? Is your system capable of supporting 12G RAM and 64-bit? If one updates it (RAM size), could u still be available?

presently, I work with a laptop... 4gig ram of 64 bit... Compaq.
I have been asking this question for a long time... if a laptop ram size can be upgraded, because I know of desktop ... and no one seems to know. so I now throw the question to you... if it is possible then am in.

A laptop ram is upgradeable.
If your laptop has two ram slot and one of these slots is empty then you can add another ram to it. If you have double 2gb ram (one 2gb ram per slot) then you can swap them for a single 4gb ram and get an additional one making it 8gb in total

ok...guess I have to open the laptop to ascertain if it has dual ram slot.. because I don't know for certain. I might be asking a lot... please do you know the prices for these ram sizes...from 8 -32 gig.

Ok, do you know what, research on your laptop model make, if it's max ram upgrade is at least up to 8G, then hola this mail: kamag234@gmail.com.

Presently I have my hands on a Xeon processor powered Desktop, 16G Ram and 1TB...but then its utter useless to me this instant, and how I wish there x a way you could avail yourself in this state. but at the least if we can make the upgrade and you can get the required simulations, perhaps all you can always send me is the alphas and rgb renders (which i'm sure most will go up to 1GB in size at full resolutions and all)....

This offer is open to anyone good at simulations/Dynamics/Compositing, especially making something, say a light trail, emerge from someone's hand to strike at another point....
Asaba, Delta state is currently the location.

Keep y'all fingers crossed.

"Miracle Sisters" in the making. Promise y'all will see the preview before the market.
Thats only the sections i worked on anyway.

3D visual effects is really not for the faintest of heart.
In the course of my engagements with this film, i had discovered that knowing just how to model a xter, animate it or render is just one phase of a whole bunch of daunting phases.

Kazuna has to know this pain-infused but quite rewarding abilities:

Matte painting
- Evil incarnate.

Rotoscoping and masking - Fail at this and u are doomed.

Geometry tracking - I thought I'm just okay with normal tracking of objects into scene , I until I had to get a snake to curl around someone.

Lighting with HDRs - Well you can claim cycles is the most photo-realistic, but in a production environment and you are given a hell-sent deadline and you just have 8G ram running on a Quadcore?!!!!.....Cycles with its noisiness is a no go area. Lux is just hopeless. Option -Octane render or even Corona. Problem is; they are not free, better thrust and thrust deeper into the shady slimy bowels of the internet to look for cracks.

Need help from others specialized in certain fields - Yes, Yes, Yes, you can't and will never do it alone. This 3D field is vast - immense, spectacularly labyrinthine, bigger than the internet-of-thangs....running short of adjectives......Unless you just want to resign your life to just doing 2-mins shot of a single dandy xter and showing them off to ur nairaland buddies - better seek out other peeps. U'd be surprised that within this Buhari led country-talents abound aplenty. For ur info, guys, a digital Matte painter just live a town away from Amawbia. Imagine that.

Serious about VFX? - You should begin to learn More than Blender - Thought I would never say this, I'd (and still do internally) scoff at Mayans and 3dsMaxians until i had to do simulations. yes simulations finally drove me out of using blender completely for my assigned task.
Why? Its simulation algorithms is way too heavy on a budget laptop. DO you know there's a difference between water, Blood gore, intestinal fluids and Acid Saliva dripping off a Monster's gum? Yes there's. Houdini to the rescue. Simple node based algorithms - Houdini is a life saver when you've a low budget 8G RAM laptop and wanna simulate assorted liquids on the go without your CPU blackening out. This is a must GUys, Find a workflow - a pipeline.
Right now it is: Photoshop>Blender>Houdini>Octane (Blender Plugin) for me!

and then there's Furball, and/or Nvidia (makers of Geforce GPUs) Hairworks.
Nvidia (makers of Geforce GPUs) Hairworks - partly developed by Franscesco Giordana, is a GPU-Accelerated node-based framework for hair simulation and rendering developed for Double Negative sometime. The framework is hybrid and it is capable of falling back automatically to CPU computation at any point of the graph. He knew I'd exist. thanks Francesco.

You must know how to start haunting for Demo reels of Hollywood Technicians and artists - This is a force D'jeure. Always seek out demo reels . They push you. They make u feel a sense of not achieving enough. They make you feel like you had wasted Sixteen years of your life FAcebooking, Whatsapping, searching for Genevieve's daughter and looking at a Gal's butt. In other words, they make you want to show'em that African can still snuck up her nose at them Hollywood peeps in their own field. These Demo reals are like Muses - Taunting and teasing your imaginations.

Hmm, I get confused me self around that, but I think obj tracking should be d same as geo tracking. But geo tracking is often used to denote attaching say a 3d face to a live actors face (so u can smash off a part of it) while obj tracking in ma various research on that often describes putting objs into live plates.

Confusing . but that is it. Basically

you are absolutely right bro...did my research too. buy is quite absurd that blend isn't equipped to achieve geometry tracking quite yet.
please want to know if I can get Houdini from you.

I will correct you on this - You can do Geometry tracking in Blender, easier even, compared to say after effects tutorials i have seen. to get a hang of it, check out The blender youtube channel tutorials on "Tears of Steel" .

for the houdiniFx, I paid handsomely for it; but thats not the point....HOW CAN I UPLOAD IT to you?
Its a 1G zip file. hahahaha. If you have any means other than this, alert me.
