Perhaps they detected structural weaknesses in them and they cut them down to commence restoration work. I will be surprised to see it not "look exactly as it was". Less prestigious buildings have their Grade Listing protected.

I haven't gone past that area in a while though. I avoid that place like a plague. The bike lane highway construction along Embankment ehn? Serious traffic.

English team will never be great!

As we all watched how West Brom, QPR and Everton did the most stupid things over the transfer window, it was clear to see why english national team have become crap and unregarded in both European and World footy.

Its great to always hand your youth player a chance in the first team to impress but what these small teams don't know is that they cant have them forever. There are bigger teams, better teams, more successful teams that would be interested and the player will ultimately dream about playing for these clubs then why put up a silly resistance? We know resistance inflates the price, gets the club more money but what they don't know is that the very young players are instantly put under a huge amount of pressure to hit the ground running and produce the goods worth those huge amounts.

Just take a look at the top 10 most expensive English footballers and see for yourself how overrated their price and talents are.

1 - Raheem Sterling - 59M
Wetin?? for what? Will he score 30 and assist 30? Anything short of that and he would be regarded a flop. and off course Liverpool are to blame for the insane resistance which they are good at cos it gets them unreasonable transfer income. Torres? and in the end they spend it stupidly. Carroll?
Verdict: Not worth it!

2 - Andy Carroll - 35M
Liverpool who seem to be the king of getting huge amount for players are also unwise when it comes to spending. They spent 35M on an English hype from newcastle And Carroll. 3 seasons, 11 goals in 58 appearances for all competitions.

Verdict: Dude cant even get into the National team and he ranks 2nd. Totally not worth it, very clear in HD

3 - Rio Ferdinand - 30M
Although he is retired, UTD's legend cost them a huge amount of money, served a ban soon after and then had a beautiful career there onwards.

Verdict: He just about is worth it.

4 - Luke Shaw - 30M
He arrived for a huge fee looking Fat and into a struggling united team. His first season was up and down with form and injuries.

Verdict: Totally not worth it at this present time as he hasn't done anything noteworthy to prove otherwise.

5 - Wayne Rooney - 27M
There's not much to say about him. Hattrick on his debut and the rest is history. about 20 goals remaining to become UTD's all times highest goals scorer.
Verdict: TOTALLY WORTH IT!

6 - James Milner - 26M
Man city stocked up on this English player who ultimately became a squad player at best.

Verdict: Worth it? errr.. Nahh. He's a hard worker and an utility to the team but theres nothing to suggest he's worth 26M

7 - Adam Lallana - 25M
This is a classic example of my point in the second Paragraph. Lallana who shone at Southampton has not been able to replicate it in Liverpool for a couple of reasons. The huge transfer cost being one of them.

Verdict: Totally not worth it!

8 - David Beckham - 24M to Real Madrid.
He's not related tot he discussion but he was legend and worth every penny and even more even though he wasn't much of a success in terms of trophies for Madrid. Just 1 league title, the Galaticos of that era were all big names but they struggled.

9 - Darren bent - 24M
Although he did produce the goals to ultimately keep Aston Villa in the league in the first half season. He didn't match double figure in the league anymore thereafter. His highlight was scoring 24 league goals a season before for sunderland before his expensive move and a combined 17 league goals in the 10/11 season for sunderland and Aston Villa.

Verdict: for his 2 season antics in 09/10 and 10/11, he is almost worth it.

10 - Joleon Lescott - 22M to man city
Theres not much to say. Totally not worth it.



From this top 10 list, only 2 players have been briliant for both club and national side while some like Darren bent didn't have enough chances at national Level. The point is, English players are over priced and it doesn't help their development. Sterling has cost that much but only has 1 goal in 16 for England. Lallana rarely starts and he ranks 7th on the list and 27years of age.
Carroll? Abeg!! He's no 2 and what has he done for England so far? let alone any of his club sides. I'll cut him a little slack for his injury woes.

We now witness Everton playing 'big club' over John stones. Its crazy! West Brom denying Berahino an opportunity to play for a bigger club because they valued him for an unreasonable fee. QPR refusing to sell Austin even though his value should have reduced because of the team's relegation.

The bigger teams are also responsible to an extent but i wouldnt entirely blame them. when they fork out that much for an English payer who doesnt hit the ground running immediately, it hard to keep fate because there are several foreigner who cost less and would do a better job.

Majority of English players are average at best and very expensive. until this changes, the national team will continue to suffer.

They have to pull the stacks down, but will rebuild replicas later.
