My dear those people that advice you not to dish his food are still single and searching or suffering from emotional instability! if you love your spouse you will gladly dish his food with smile .

I hope you also noticed how Abraham respected and listened to his wife

And l also hope you noticed what the "end result" was/usually is, ....for a man who listens to his wife ALWAYS?

A man has got to be a man, taking tough decisions and taking full responsibility for it (good or bad),.... is part of being a "real man".

Re: My Husband Insists I Dish Food For Him by toksbisola: 9:09pm On Sep 02, 2015
@Op; PLEASE WHAT IS THE FUSS ALL ABOUT? SERVE YOUR HUSBAND HIS FOOD PLEASE. It is not everything that one must make a complaint about. If it will make things easier for you, then why not wait until he sits on the table, then bring his food in and dish it straight away. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

I must point out though that one mans' meat is another mans' poison. For some men, they might not see any big deal in them serving their food themselves as seen in the comments by some men here. For other men, they see it as a big deal and again some men have attested to that fact by their comments here as well.

By now, you should know the type of husband you married and IF IT IS A FUSS TO HIM THEN PLEASE SERVE HIM AND AVOID UNNECESSARY PROBLEMS/STRESS. It would not take a hair out of your body if you do so.

Going back in time, most of our mothers dished the food of our fathers and our mothers also sit down by them and watch them eat their food in style. In fact, some fathers would be smiling eating their wife’s food after being served as a king.

A piece of advice for you @OP; please allow peace to reign in your home. If serving your husband his food would bring that peace then what is the fuss all about? Avoid allowing something as trivial as this to escalate into something big. It is not everything that one must be stubborn about or claim “I AM RIGHT AND I WOULD NOT CHANGE”.

To note, there are far more challenging issues in a marital home than for this little (as that is how I see it IMHO) issue to cause you sleepiness nights. If that is the norm that your husband wants (different strokes for different folks); then please succumb for peace to reign in the family.

PS; in this day and age, it only takes some trivial issues for divorce proceedings to start. Recently, some trivial issues like that have been brought to the front page of NL. Take this as an alert. All the best

I rest my case

Bringing chistianity into this argument make its ridiculous.
Husband means Master.
Sarah called her husband master.
A christian woman should have no problem serving her husband.
That is her God given role as a wife.
Christ said husbands love ur wives as Christ loved the church. A husband should be ready to give his life for his wife if need be. The relationship between God and us is not even a master/servant relationship, so what are we saying? A leader is to serve not to be served

@OP, it appears yhur supposed husband expects to see his food directly on his plate.
Solution, skip the dinner bowls, serve in dish straight from the pot. Thereby husband has his 'complete service' and wife can get along with her 'busyness'.

Probably putting on make up.
I wonder why a good wife should be busy doing something else while her husband is at the dining table. Something is wrong if young couples eat from different plates at this early stage of their marriage.
The lady isn't saying the whole truth. The man has a reason for demanding she dishes the food

The quality of love of the husband towards the wife should be unconditional and total. That is what the passage was talking about.
It doesn't change the fact that husband originally means master.
Unless you are telling me that God has changed from the God of abraham whose wife called him master and served him as one.
And yes, Jesus is our master and lord as well as our friend and father.

Exactly!

A happy marriage is not suppose to be a power struggle,if serving my husband makes him happy,by all means i will and if in any way i am sick or indispose,i doubt he will insist i do it.

Just like when there is a noise in the house or gun shot, the first word of any sensible man will be stay here don't move or go get the kids and hide, let me go and check what's going on.This is natural.

There are things as women that suppose to be natural because of our nurturing instinct. It doesn't have to be dramatic.
I love this.

And yes a leader is called to serve.
But the followers must submit and follow his orders and instructions.
It is the quality of service the followers render to the leader that determines how well the leader serves.

I know you are a spiritual illiterate. was Sarah ever a servant to Abraham? yet she called him lord, that is honour for you, if you truly love your husband, you will show him REVERENCE, that is, deep honour, just like Sarah did.

I was trying not to comment when I saw the feminists start arriving. Both u and Timbuktou has really nailed it all.nobody is slaving nobody.Sarah's case is enough for us to comprehend this whole issue.

Yet, theses disciples called him master and they served him in the way Jesus expected of them, didn't they? now, that you're referring to Jesus and his disciples, shouldn't wives call their husbands Lord? Anyway, moving on.

Surely, you're not referencing the conventional bible we have all come to know. If not you'd have no issues with the head of the house and Lord demanding that his 'disciple" do as the master demands. Then, again, it's you. We don't know what bible you read.

There's cooler/tray in the bible? Or her expectations trump that of her master and Lord? In what biblical planet are these roles reversed Deaconess Bukky? Which means she can leave foods half-cooked or burn them because there are other chores to handle. Having chores is a good reason to leave other chores half-done or abandoned completely? That wife is a very special foolish breed.

We greet you, our 'Nigerian' wives.

@your signature.... So he can sleep well, she should put d food on her head or kneel on the table so it can stand on her back while she's doing d Jane-Jane pose.
It is a very silly thing to ask for. If u can't even dish ur own food for ur self. I guess he would expect d wife to burp him so he can blech too..

As in.

Nwoke madu food dey your front. carry am put for your plate like a normal person, he refused.

Ngwanu madam dish it for him to avoid wahala, she's on Facebook making a fuss.

I think it's unnecessary bringing such a trivial matter to the social media. For me she didn't try but I'm surprised some people don't think there's something wrong with the man's behavior.

Even rejecting food because it was in front of you and not put on your plate? That's abnormal.
Why can't we just call a spade a spade.
His behavior isn't normal.

since that's wat he wants, what do u suggest? Divorce?

Please I will want to know the opinion of people.
My husband insists I dish his food. For instance, if I set the food on the table with plates and cutlery, he prefers I dish onto his plate, that it shows complete service.i think otherwise because I might be busy attending to other chores. This morning he almost left for work without taking breakfast and when i asked why he was leaving, he said the service was not complete. So I had to leave what I was doing to dish food for him.

What are your views on this?
*culled from facebook*

You can always put the food directly into your adopted child's plate right after cooking, then place it on the table with another plate covering it or something. It will save you from washing a million dishes after he is done anyway.

Women like this should be divorced ASAP.

You are either ready for marriage (and its responsibilities) or you are not.
What is the big deal in dishing food in a plate, if you could cook it and place it on the table?

Foolish women whining about nothing!
And u think ur ready for marriage? Mstchewwww! To a dog perhaps

In the right words, marry that friend and lover for starters, if change comes, take it from there but start with the right foundation first. We tend to disturb God a lot, his grace is already sufficient for all of us.

You don't get married to a beast because the friend and lover you could have married might eventually become a beast. Take each beautiful day of your life as it comes and don't live in "what ifs", what if this hideous change you anticipated never came? What if you live happily ever after? Are there no happily ever after? Did every marriage end in tales of woe? Do the right thing first, it's not your duty to sort out tomorrow, why worry about tomorrow when no one is guaranteed tomorrow?

Now your talking, your first post was too direct and u dint reason this way. We should always be positive and hope for better things, and also know how to embrace change and come out at the top.
