I mean those foamy stuffs being installed on the exterior wall... that foam is like insulation, No?
I prefer those small exterior bricks that needs no painting.

Hajji M.
They are insulators to prevent heat loss.

Hajji and FastShipping I'm surprised that you both are saying that insulation is not needed in Nigeria.

Please do some or more research on why you insulate.

My houses in Texas and California are all insulated, heavily, and for good reasons.
Ok let's discus insulation. To insulate is to protect.in the case of building this applies to just to gain heat or reduce heat loss.we won't need that in Nigeria.cos we do not heat our houses. We only try to make our houses cooler.heat do not need any sort of circulation while cooling does.as regards to aircon.so basically all that is needed in the Nigerian home is good ventilation.

I don't really like a wall plastered with sand and cement. An interior wall done with dry-wall/sheet-rock/cement board look a lot better than a cement plastered wall. I need another option to metal-framed partitioning. Why not treated wood partitioning as against metal partitioning? Like in the U.S, no one uses metal to partition interior walls except in an industrial buildings. We use treated wood here and they can last more than 100 years.

I am looking at this options below:
But yoy k ow there are plaster made not from sand and cement mix.

I completely disagree but I'll leave it at that.

That's the beauty of self funded projects but for anyone else that is open minded please read up, even the link that Hajji posted.

I know that is why I said it's not good..... in Naija we want to chase out the heat. smiley

Insulations good to keep heat inside (Oyinbo country)
Insulations good to keep coolness inside (if you are operating constant Air Cooling System) Where is NEPA for this?
Thanks.

Of course not.

The purpose of insulation is to maintain temperature.

Homes are insulated for the purpose to keep the house warm during winter.

That's a shame as they didn't have to, imho

There are non powered devices that can evacuate/exchange air efficiently.

There is a reason why they don't use insulation in Arizona or Nevada.

They don't. It has to be few. The insulation is to help retain heat in the house during winter time.

Google is littered with insulation companies.

I saw with my own eyes track homes bring insulated during my drives through Arizona and Nevada.

Not second hand stories but by visiting 1st tier American builders construction sites in those two states.

Nope not a few, it's standard practice to insulate homes anywhere in the USA ;

Insulation is to help maintain whatever temperature that the homeowner desires.

So I'll quit now. grin

Used the term loosely as I'm not familiar with the process which is similar but nevertheless I don't see the efficiency.

I've been around quite a few construction sites and I've never seen one. Have you?

There's a Chinese company around Berger, Lagos that proposed this to me in one of my project. I'll get you the link and the video they sent to me but I just felt it's not worth it.

We aren't really ready for this yet. I'll not like to be used as guinea pig

Nop, for all its worth, it was made in India, however I reckon its too slow and I don't see how it will work on outer walls.

It seems like a fair amount of setup time, all the waste which I guess can be collected and reused.

I'm all for automation but we have to be reasonable.

If we can first get rid of adult men carrying poun poun of concrete mix on their head and old women fetching water then I'll be happy. grin

I was asking one guy on their site, how do we work with this on outer walls as there who be any decking to hold it above .So in practice it would work for internal wall, but come to think of it, there is no rendering on outside walls if you use red bricks

We need to get out act together in Nigeria. Why should getting straight wood be a problem? I could get 200 straight wood out of Home Depot or Lowes on daily basis without a problem.

In Nigeria, it has to do with GREED!
Its not that our machines cant cut straight but how easy will it be, to cheat a customer, if you sell straight and accurately-dimensioned wood or measures?

Even blocks or tonnage sand do not reach the assigned size.
