Efirin/scented Leaf Soup by Hauwa1: 6:37pm On Apr 28, 2009 |
There is this special vegetable called Efirin in the west. I forgot the south and east name for this veg. Efirin is one great vegetable. You could cook it either poorly or richly and still gives you satisfaction Efirin is not meaty kind of soup. When made with fresh fish it is so delish. It's one of the soups i termed 'Native' soup. On a raining day, you could just drink efirin soup. It is good for cold, stomach upset or when you are sick. Folks, share your Efirin experience here . |

Yea, I think I'll look it up and try it. BTW, how's the jasmine rice going? |
Re: Efirin/scented Leaf Soup by darkgoddes(f): 11:49pm On Apr 28, 2009 |
*Hauwa*: Are you talking about nsala soup? Pounded yam is used as a thickener to cook the soup. Efirin is also used too, so i am thinking it has to be ofe nsala (nsala soup). |

Tpia, thank you for the pix. i think this mint is quite different from asian mint (for teas). no, not Nsala. i know nsala. this one is much greenish. you have to blend the leaf to a smooth paste for soup. ha!! i got JasM. will gist ya |

Re: Efirin/scented Leaf Soup by spikedcylinder: 1:30pm On Apr 30, 2009 |
If you want to detox, just blend efirin with bitter leaf. Boil it and add all the ingredients you want to - fish, spices etc. Drink it for 3 days and watch as you develop a good relationship with your toilet. You'll feel lighter than air afterwards. |

Re: Efirin/scented Leaf Soup by Ejadamen(f): 3:21pm On Mar 07, 2011 |
It's the combo that is amazing me. Do you really take that after childbirth? Isn't sapele water alcoholic? Doesn't the alcohol get into your breast milk? |
Re: Efirin/scented Leaf Soup by ifyalways(f): 3:35pm On Mar 07, 2011 |
Ejadamen:Yeah I do. I start taking my combo very early in the morn before my baby wakes for a feed and occasional sips when he is asleep. I know there are lots of breastfeeding and alcohol theories out there but this much Im very sure of . . . blood alcohol levels and the level of alcohol in your milk will generally be highest 30 to 90 minutes after you have a drink, this varies from person to person sha. Don't try my combo . . .It might not be good for you and ur baby. |
Re: Efirin/scented Leaf Soup by Ejadamen(f): 6:13pm On Mar 07, 2011 |
Like you said,it's for strong heads. I definitely won't try it. |
