Its ignorance, they all think the grass is greener on the other side until they get there. If people researched what it takes to survive in the US or many western nations they will understand and choose to make something of themselves in their country of origin. Most Nigerians don't know what taxes are, nor do they know mortgages nor the massive amounts of bills one has to pay just to survive. They don't know that in order to be something in any western society you first have to go to school, spend years and tens of thousands of dollars acquiring adequate education. Its just sad when i here how people salivate at the thought of coming to the US or going to the UK or Germany, they have no bloody idea.
I could tell you've been through what folks living overseas are going through. I bet everyone already assumes you're super-rich forgetting you pay bills they have never heard of.

Forget that immigrant stuff, US is an immigrant country too just as Canada. Statistics shows that 80% of Canadians are white, if you add the metis ( half white/ half aboriginal). Then the percentage would be close to 85%.
Like I said, I don't live in Canada, however I have visted more than 20 times from the US. The fact that a certain percentage is white doesnt mean they are not immigrants. There are Canadians whose roots are from France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Holland and other countries. I'd expect them to be white and may be not racist because everyone knows Canada is not their land.

What makes you guys think all those countries you've mentioned are better than Nigeria? The grass is always greener on the other side until you cross over!

Mind you every country has it's own challenges; so don't be deceived.
Let's pray for God's blessing in our own space.

Yoruba proverb says even if yam is being pounded in a leave and stew/soup prepared in groundnut shell; he who would be satisfied will be satisfied. May God count us among those who will be satisfied in Nigeria, IJN, Amen.

What you have said is out of ignorance. To be successful in the u.s for example, take these steps;

1. Enter the country legally. Key word here is LEGALLY. If not, disregard the remaining points because you are going to experience hell.

2. Wait 3 months and get your social security.

3. Apply and get a job.

4. Pay your bills. Your credit score is paramount to your success.

5. Apply to a decent school.

6. Get a degree or certification.

7. Graduate.

8. Apply for a better job.

9. Stay out of trouble.

10. After 5 years, get your citizenship.

Too easy grin.

I'm in Nigeria, and the other country I will rather live in is

Nigeria
Op,you need to ask Ayiri Emami, Otedola,Davido and all those quiet millionaires where they will like to relocate to.I'll Build my mansion in my own taste and won't have to think of mortgage,,,Create my own good life in Nigeria,,Impact on those who are not-well-to-do and pay my dues to my father &mother land...
If these toys are in Nigeria, why can't I have mine here?
Summary:::
*Make money here
*Live here
*Die here
daddysprincess we share the same view,, how far with the money I asked you to collect From your Daddy for me.grin grin grin...

What happens after getting your US citizenship?
I know tonnes of people who already became US citizens and can't even use their US passports for anything. They are simply buried in their bills to think of traveling anywhere.
All they can brag about is being a US citizen, which is crap when they are stuck with working for 35-40 years in someone else's country.
They eventually return to Nigeria waiting for their social security checks and possibly be buried in their motherland when they eventually die. Many of them never own anything in Nigeria, yet their nephews and nieces own homes they built. In return, the returnees will brag again about the huge homes they have in the US, technically owned by the US banks for the 35 year mortgage they agreed to.

#10 is just the beginning of the journey bro. All the homeless people we see in the US no be US citizens? It could have being from their choices though.

Those that diligently went through the steps you highlighted to become US citizens and end up with good jobs still know modern-day slavery when they see it. They just don't complain because their home country aint any better.

You may be new to the US or just don't get the full picture yet...

I live in the US too, and I do have US citizenship as well, I just look at a bigger picture than what the system attempts to make me think.
There is really no where like home, let's keep that on our minds before getting in too deep into what the foreign system wants us to be, which in my opinion is similar to what our enslaved ancestors were to them.
