This Oanda stuff is something we just discussed on another group I am. I'll rather advice one use bank rate(you will use bank to make any payment you are making anyway) which someone who just transacted with First Bank said he was charged 165. It used to be 170 actually which I'll rather advice anyone to use.

Really? I used Oanda for mine though with no problems because when I got my GCMS Notes it said funds okay that's why I suggested he should use it. I guess he could use bank rate too.

The visa officer doing the evaluation is not privy to first bank nor zenith bank's rate (any local bank rate for that matter). They rely on likes of oanda.com; xe.com for conversion. Banks add their own premium to the card rate depending on their cost of funds. So different banks with different rates.

Good for you. Just that you know how these things can be, better to tighten every noose but then, it's possible they also use these online converters cuz, looking at it, they are possibly dealing with like 30 or 40nations where are applications are coming from and they just may not have the time finding out from each country what the exchange rate is.

You adviced well, telling him to include print-out from oanda

Thank you for your response. My current situation is that I live in the Uk and will not be in the bank in person. I require the statement to be signed and stamped. I was wondering if I could ask my accounts officer to authorize my sister (a former staff of diamond bank) to collect the statement in a branch close to her on my behalf

It is very possible. If you have a relationship with your account officer you just contact him/her via telephone that you need a duly statement of account and you will like your sister to receive it for you. Then courier a handwritten or typed instruction duly signed according to your mandate to your branch with the particulars of your sister preferably her international passport, passport number and the branch she would be picking it from in the body of the letter. If you still have the telephone number linked to the account, include it in the letter and make sure the line is active. You can also request for an email indemnity form which can be faxed to you after which you print&sign and courier to the bank. Thereafter you can communicate with your account officer via email. On the other hand, if are registered on internet banking platform and you have access to a token, you can send a secure email to your account officer and your request will be treated with uttermost urgency.

Proof of funds
Purpose

To confirm whether the applicant meets the low income cutoff (LICO), as assessed by the amount of money they hold compared to the number of people in their family
Document requirements

The applicant should provide official letter(s) from financial institution(s) that list all current bank and investment accounts as well as outstanding debts such as credit card debts and loans.
The letter(s) must be printed on the letterhead of the financial institution and must include the applicant’s name, the contact information of the financial institution (address, telephone number and email address), the account numbers, the date each account was opened and the current balance of each account as well as the average balance in the past six months.
Other documents may also be requested, as necessary.

Individuals who must submit this documentation

The principal applicant

The above is CIC's requirement and specification for POF

Current balance(which will be the month you request for the letter) of each account is requested and average balance for 6months(addition of each month's balance for the past 6months divided by 6), what I'm however not sure about is if the average has to be all the accounts added together or average balance for each account for those operating more than one account in the same bank which however can be stated separately for clarity.

However, it appears CIC may have set a little trap here. If the difference between average and current balance seem too much, who knows if they will want to make a case out of it but then, they can't expect one not to spend na!

Dupyshoo!!! You may want to look into these before specifying what the bank should write in your new letter.

Guys 18th draw is out and once again the minimum score is 450 and 1,530 people have been invited. Looks like people should now be aiming to score 450 and above. Please see below:

MINISTERIAL INSTRUCTIONS RESPECTING INVITATIONS TO APPLY FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCE UNDER THE EXPRESS ENTRY SYSTEM (OCTOBER 2, 2015)

Determination — number of invitations

1. (1) For the purposes of paragraph 10.2(1)(b) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, the number of invitations that may be issued during the period beginning on October 2, 2015 and ending on October 3, 2015 is 1,530.

Required rank

(2) Foreign nationals who, on October 2, 2015 at 12:28:11 UTC, have been assigned a total of 450 points or more under the Comprehensive Ranking System that is set out in the Ministerial Instructions Respecting the Express Entry System, as published in the Canada Gazette, Part I, on December 1, 2014 and as amended from time to time, occupy the rank required to be invited to make an application for permanent residence.

Good evening.

You have to know someone in Canada to request it so they can send it to that person who'll in turn send it to you. My sister is in Canada so I just filled the consent form which consents that my info be released to her.

Hello House. I've been a silent reader for months. Well done for the good work being done here.
My question is: can a First cousin once-removed (that is my Great aunt's daughter) be regarded as a close relation?

This is what CIC states in relation to relatives in Canada in order to be eligible for 5 points under adaptability for FSW:

You, or, if it applies, your spouse or common-law partner, have a relative, either a

parent,
grandparent,
child,
grandchild,
child of a parent (sibling),
child of a grandparent (aunt or uncle), or
grandchild of a parent (niece or nephew), who is
living in Canada
18 years or older and
a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

You can work anywhere once you arrive in Canada, there's no rule that says you should stick to your NOC.
