bros you can unlock the phone for international use only. Blacklisted imei means its been reported lost,stolen or phone was on contract and not fully paid off-therefore blocked from tmobile service you should have no problem unlocking it here. If you reside in lagos goto computer village- the technicians there will unlock it for you for a token. Or contact unclesamtech here on NL.

1. Konga, jumia & co don't sell used phones.
2. The phone supposedly wasn't on a contract when I bought it. I did not pay the subsidized contract rate. The seller advertised it as unlocked for use on any gsm network and that's why I bought it.
3. The amount I paid was quite reasonable considering it was being brought back to Nigeria by a friend. Probably even cheaper than I would have paid in computer village.
4. I don't think amazon does an imei and esn check on phones advertised on the site. Only swappa does that.

I'm sure I've answered most of the ignorant and unnecessarily hateful comments. If you don't have anything valuable to add to the thread, move along and save your data.

This is why one has to be careful when buying used items, in most cases they're stolen. I don't think any phone technician can unlock this.

guy, never mind this "zoological man" that am quoting now. My friend experienced the same thing when a bro of his sent a used phone to him from abroad. What he did is that he went to "Emeka Offor Plaza" which is situated in Onitsha Main Market where the phone hackers cracked it and now it's working perfectly fine. Ur money talks, bro.

Mobile uncle would handle your imei change once you are rooted...The exposed module would probably do the same thing giving you access to engineering mode...I am just more conversant with mobile uncle.

For the op as a long time amazon shopper I can assure u that if ur story is true then contact the seller and if the response is not favourable contact amazon. However are u sure that u read the description of the phone before u bought? Some sellers sell phone that are locked to certain telcos in us and they state this in their description.

@encrypt isn't mobile uncle only for mtk phones? I haven't tried anything yet. I rooted the phone but I have installed xposed yet. I don't want to make too much changes to the software just yet.

@erico2k2 I ran a google search on the imei number and it says it was blacklisted by t mobile. I also think it's locked to the t mobile network. On the center of the phone's lock screen, it says network locked. Like some people have stated on this thread, I'm beginning to think if I just do an unlock it would work with a Nigerian carrier regardless of it being blacklisted. The seller was just plain dishonest, he advertised the phone as "unlocked". Just goes to show Americans are just as bad as we are.

You have root access...Good...get cwm and keep the back up.. Flash a custom ROM and you should be good as new..I don't think the imei is the issue
PS: yeah sorry about the mobile uncle thingy it's actually for mtk phones.

Since you honestly bought it from amazon, unlock the phone using the imei number, LG phones are very cheap to unlock. The only thing is that phone will not work in the UK. As far as I know there is no worldwide block on 'stolen' phones as we speak.. Unfortunately, that's why criminals steal high end phones and ship them abroad, apple is working towards implementing an international kill switch on there phones due to large amounts of iphone stolen and shipped out..
