Our attention has been drawn to allegations that N3.5 trillion of the pension assets were drawn down by the previous administration to finance recurrent expenditure.
This is not correct.
The amount being referred to is the current total value of pension fund investments in Federal Government of Nigeria Bonds and Treasury Bills.
The pension fund assets are intact.
Treasury bills and government bonds are adjudged to be the safest instruments for pension fund investments.
