[b]When I read about some drugs having side effects, I always dismiss such info until I swallowed half a card of 'CIPROTAB' in order to fight off a deadly blow from malaria allied with typhoid fever. What my body is undergoing now can only be imagined...

Dews are settling every now and then on my forehead. It seems a new salty spring have suddenly burst out of my throat cause this volume of spittle rushing into my mouth per second is baffling, bewildering, bemusing and mystifying.
The worst thing is I can't coup them back cause the salinity seem higher than what my system really needs. So now you can picture a pregnant woman's favourite sport and picture me!

I bade farewell to sleep three days ago. Well, at least I can read for my ongoing exams instead of lazily dozing... for where? It looks like those feudal worms in my stomach have been constantly at war ever since I took those drugs; I can feel some some hot canon balls being projected from the left 'wing' of my intestines to the right.

Even me wey been dey score multiple hat-tricks when having a serious match with BEANS have now become a spectator! sad

Erm... What's that going on in my head? Is someone rearranging my brains?!! (grabs head) shocked

Honestly I dont blame ppl who practice self medication cos u visit a hospital nd ther re so many procedurs b4 u finally see a doctor to examine u
MY ADVICE: simply walk into a registered pharmacy with a registered Pharmacist

Coming to the above matter, kindly keep the remaining half of the ciprotab and return it to whichevr pharmacy and lay a complaint.. also check the expiry date. Consult a well trained Pharmacist or doctor cos u may be experiencing an adverse drug reaction. You may be recommnded to carry out som required test
Thank you nd get well soon IJN

My dear, please discontinue the medication. that was exactly what happened to me 3years ago. I almost went mad but for God's Grace. I was rushed back to the hospital and the doc. asked me to discontinue. It was a terrible experience. And till today, I still ve that Ciprotab in my bag, whenever a Doc/Pharmacist want to precribe malaria drugs for me, I will just remove the Ciprotab from my bag and tell the doc/Pharmacy dat i'm allergic to Ciprotab. Lol. I would ve been roaming the street mad now if not for God. #SayNoToCiprotab #AllergicToCiprotab

I was on a lookout for this. I had a bad case of constipation for days. Very uncomfortable and terrible experience. Now, after going to toilet freely, I give a prayer of thanks. Kai.

Pls don,t think what you are experiencing is side effects of ciprotab. It is actually adverse drug reactions! It can lead to anaphylactic shock and death if not well managed. It is dangerous than you are joking about, stop using the drug and you must never use any quinolones like ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, norfloxacin, sparfloxacin, levofloxacin.Report it to the pharmacist or doctor that prescribe it for you and you will be adequately adviced.I am a pharmacist.

@OP Ciprofloxacin is one of the most common antibiotics worldwide for many infections as it causes few side effects and is still effective against most strains.

However, there are some people like yourself who present with adverse reactions to the drug. First make sure you took the correct dosage and that the drug in question is fresh. If all the above is fine, then if suggest you ask your doctor for alternative medicine.

Personally, I am one of those rare people who are severely allergic to ciprofloxacin. I took it once for kidney infection at the hospital intravenously... Within seconds my throat closed, luckily my doctor was a button press away. I was given epipen and benadryl and slept the rest of the day away lipsrsealed

Read antacids make ciprofloxacin less effective,so I didn't take any.

Will go back to the hospital if it persists though.

Take lots of water, fruit and vegetable.

I will advise to seek expert medical opinion . Side effects of drugs can be as benign as a rash or as significant as kidney failure, swelling of the throat and closing off your airway, or peeling of skin or worse a fake tablet made of dangerous chemical substance----- -it all depends on your immune system. seek immediate medical attention and you will be glad to see another day and talk about it !

I took the drug few weeks ago, oh boy, I thought I was going die. My heart started getting weak, my breathing heavy and I was becoming slower. I took almost half of the dosage before I realise that it was the drug that was causing the effects on my body.

That must have been a really terrible one. It stalled your stooling and you were having peristaltic contractions as if in labour.
I cant bet it was intestinal obstruction.

In rare cases, typhoid-induced gut perforation, with a tendency for deadly sepsis setting in within hours.

Thank God you recovered. Misdiagnosis is a death sentence in disguise.

This is a common mistake made by most Nigerians, you feel sick and immediately self diagnose yourself with malaria. Are you a medical doctor? Must every symptom you exhibit be linked to malaria? Did a medical doctor prescribe Cipro antibiotic or you chose to diagnose and treat yourself at the same time? I'm even shocked how and why anyone would be allowed to purchase antibiotics from a pharmacy without a written prescription.

People there are real dangers of taking antibiotics for everything; after a while the bacteria will mutate and become resistant to the antibiotics. In other words, when you are really suffering from a bacterial infection, no amount of antibiotics will be effective because the bacteria has developed resistance to the medicine.

Tell em... Naija na one serious jungle, do you know you can actually purchase blood from a lab for your own transfusion in Nigeria..
