OK thanks, but this government hospital respond as if they don't care much. if you complain they just write drugs for you. that's all. and psychiatric hospital medicine is very expensive. the last time I went there only few drug and test the money was huge. the the drugs want to aggravate the situation before I went back to general hospital.

In the course of my practice, I have observed that alot of people with related complaints present to the wrong places for years because they don't know better.
Thats why for years no improvement in the symptoms.
Yes your everyday General practitioners may help only briefly because they may not have in depth knowledge in some of these conditions. Usually they shld ideally refer when they discover it requires a specialist intervention.
You may have noticed that I refer most cases, it's because after going thru the complaints, if its related to mental issues or neurological I advise according.
Failure to follow thru may lead to the condition becoming chronic, quality of life affected, unnecessary financial
Burden on the patient because you keep wasting money on treatment for "everyday typhoid and malaria".
I am first a medical doctor before a psychiatrist.
Am able to advise based on my knowledge in both fields.
I owe it to the public to give the best medical advise.
So bear with me if I refer you to psychiatrist or other specialist, it's cos thats where I know you may get the best treatment for your related condition rather than patronising unqualified persons who may not be able to help much.

Sorry I could get back to you cos of work.

I am still worried as to what damage has been done to my brain. the constant noise from my ear is like a running tap water that has pressure. although sometimes it stops and sometimes it continue.

it feels like the end of my joy has come. I am only waiting for next week to go check with next doctor appointment the sad part is you meet different doctor on section not like you just have one there.

why is the constant pain, some times head electronic shock, sometimes head numbness, and face seizure, movement is face, ear, forehead, and some part in body.

I prophet told me its a spiritual attack. there is something tap from my brain.

but since I am on bromazepam swipha talen. I feel relief daily. once i start getting any symptoms I quickly take it. is like the end of the word. why me of all people.

she first complained that she offended some set of guys by her words and felt the guys were monitoring her to attack her...and since then, she just want to lock herself up and she couldn't sleep for somedays before we took her to a private hospital on saturday...now she can sleep with the help of the drugs but she still wanna lock herself up in the house or if possible relocate frm the house.....and the worst part now is that whenever she sees any strange guy, she just concluded the guy is part of those monitoring her...plz ur professional advice is needed..my heart is breaking..thanks

you nothing but little to worry about. as there are no physical symptoms. she need to work on her mind that's anxiety disorder. you can read about anxiety on the internet. or you wait for the owner of this thread to advice you.

Psychological issues which require medications aren't treated with short term use of medications.
Abrupt stoppage of medications may lead to a rebound of symptoms.
This rebound may be more severe than the first symptoms n sometimes become resistant to earlier medication.
My advise for you is this, if you feel any relief with your medication, then stick to them for now.

she's in her late 40's
it's all started last week
Yes this is happening for the first time and she has never talked to herself except sometimes when she's praying
no other medical condition that i know off.
She came from a family of 9 children and i think the first born had a mental illness many years ago..say 25-30yrs ago
For the poor sleep, i can't say wat drug but she was also given some anti-malaria tabs.

Pls try and get her to see a psychiatrist close to you ASAP
It's very early symptoms so if treatment is started early, her prognosis would be better.

Remember 1 or 2 symptoms alone can't predict a mental illness.

Hello Doctor, my brother has had typhoid induced psychiatric problems since August ending. He was okay for a while and then it started again, he is currently on admission in the hospital. Am curious and mainly worried weather the treatment should take this long, and also any general advice on the subject would be highly appreciated.

.medical conditions both acute or chronic can cause psychiatric problems. Examples of acute medications include infections like severe malaria, typhoid etc but these diagnosis is usually suspected and made in d presence of signs like fever in addition to a laboratory investigation to confirm an on going infection.

What symptoms did ur brother present with in d first episode and this current episode?
How long did it last b4 he got treatment?

For patients like this, they may behave irrationally or appear disoriented / confused and also have other medical symptoms.
It not very common to always have a repeat of such episode like what ur brother is experiencing. There must be a positive laboratory result to support this claim. Sometimes, rather than say a patient have a clear psychiatric illness n type, some hospitals hide under that umbrella of malaria and typhoid induced psychosis just may be very misleading.
I would advise that he is properly assessed n managed cos he may be at a risk of future relapses if not we'll handled.
