@op, pls what's the least one can use to set this up. I would be using it to power my ceiling fan, television and light bulbs especially in the night.

If you are pretty handy you can buy a 500 watt inverter a 100AH battery and 200 watts in panels and do your connections for about N150k or less

Do you mean everything would fall within 150k?

Absolutely, based on what he recommended (based on u requesting for a Very basic setup)

But let me add this, at night when there is no sun, putting a tv of about 170w, a fan of 60w and a bulb of 26w, you wont use it for more than 2hrs. Reason is smart inverters wont allow u to drain ur battery more than 50% of their rated capacity. For a 100ah battery the true power over time you can get is 100ahX12V= 1,200Wh divided by 2 = 600Wh. Your electrical load is approximately 256W which gives you 2.3hrs of electricity.

So you need to do electrical lod calculations and work towards what you really want, saving money and at the same time getting a reasonable service from the system.

In addition to what i said above. It will be wise to use electronics that dont consume much electricity so you can have a longer usage time. All the best

Thanks for your response. While this is good, I usually prefer a straightforward answer. All those stuff you list there, I may have little or no knowledge about them. What I'm asking is how much it'll take in monetary terms to set up a basic unit atleast for television, a fan and possibly with 4 energy saving bulbs from 9PM to like 6AM. Just tell me how much, no component calculations. Thank you.

Battery 100 AH about N40k each, solar panel N30 to N 40 k each Inverter N20 to N35 k. Charge controller PWM N10 to 20 K. Just recognize that in that price range you get what you pay for. It will be equivalent to the cheap "I better pass my neigbor" and you will be forced to make lots of compromises. With the proper skill set you can buy your items in bits.
Purchase a very good quality inverter and battery. Then when you get more funds buy a good quality charge controller and panels

I'll like to start saving for this. But this battery, how long can this one last with the above stated loads?

Lol.
This is the problem i have with online consultancy. People dont appreciate information. I already told you sir that 100ah battery will not last more than 2-3 hours with all the stated load. By the way mr chris i appreciate your contribution on this thread, but 100ah battery for 40,000 (by the way i know there are lots of brands that cost this much, but not applicable to someone trying to cut cost)?! What?! It shld not cost more than 25,000 at most. Mr. Samuel, i have answered the question u are asking now. You want it to last 5-6hours then buy 2 100ah batteries. You want it to last 18hrs then u need about 6 X 100ah batteries or better still 3 200ah batteries. Note this is based on the assumption that your tv is about 170w, fan is 60w and your bulb is 26w and that they will all be on for 18hrs.

You want a system that will give u good satisfaction? 18hrs at least everyday then budget about 300,000 just for equipments (no installation cost). This will give you 3X 200ah deep circle batteries, 6X 120W solar panels charge controller of 30a and a 1,000 watt inverter.
All the best sir. You said u dont like explanations, i'm sorry, but you will end up being cheated and misinformed. It is not that i like making long posts.

No problem. Was just pained that the information that will save many people from bad experience is usually ignored, later people come to say solar does not work.

The installation cost depends on who is installing for you. Can be as cheap as 10,000, but if the person is coming from outside uyo, expect it to be more

You are going to have to find that out on your own. Do a Google search. There is a load calculator on our company webpage. You need to know the AH of the battery and your system voltage. Then calculate your total load. Enter those three numbers into the calculator and it will give you your answer.

Nepa has been delivering between 98 and 287 volts. Our system continues to produce 230 v. This is why it pays to buy quality. There is no stabilizer in the house.

What are you looking to accomplish? 2 V 6 V are you best bets. Flooded is my first choice and an AGM my second.
Brands that I buy Trojan Hoppecke. I was told by my US distributor to look at Fullriver. If you have coins Rolls Surrette.

Hello Alex how many hours a day do you intend to use each appliance.

Importance of fuse and breakers. Today I plugged in an electrical kettle and our lights went out. The wires were warm to the touch and the fuse had burnt. The microwave and iron did not burn my fuse but the electrical kettle did. It drew the batteries from 26 V to 23 Volts. You can imagine the amp draw on the system.
Can you imagine what would have happened if I did not have the fuse between the batteries and the inverter? Fuses are cheap. Your life is way to valuable to risk your installation to an amateur.

Hello boss,
I have followed your various posts on solar powered pumps and solar power for home use. I have the following questions on pumps and solar:
1. Is there any low head (20feets) high flow rate (15-20,000ltr/hr) pump that can be powered by both power grid and DC(inverter tie solar) with low wattage less than 400watts? How much does it cost and what is the rating and flowrate?
2. If there is any, and i want to run same for 24hrs none stop (recirculating aquaculture system), how much will such a solar system cost to run the pump only?
I appreciate and anticipate a swift response. Regards

I am really sorry sir. There is no pump either dc or ac that can deliver that flowrate at that wattage.
And very few pumps use ac and dc interchangeably, so this highly limits your options.
To get that flow-rate you need a pump of at least 2hp and that would require about 2500watts of electricity or more if the pump is not using a BLDC motor.
