Then we had the Nairaland Pilot who scammed the Norwegian Sisebuto.

Odiaero was a thief from day one and many saw through his fakery. He trolled from section to section with his "come and be going, I come and gone" brand of written English. Half baked self acclaimed Pilot and forex trader. He was shamed off the forum, or wasn't he? undecided

One of the first major scam story I witnessed on NL.

Both. And any other thread I deem fit to throw in. cool

I see. You might want to edit thread title to " scandals and scammers"

Whitelexi didn't take money from any of his women.

I also remember reading the story of a certain female nlder who flew from US to UK only to be dumped on arrival cos the male nlder she went to see thought her to be ugly.

I remember Nana and Adesogidi(sp?)also. So many romance scandals then.

Na dem dem dey still release tori give us floor members.

They already made up oo. Sisebuto changed thread title to " friends and business partners once more" or something like that.

How Odi convinced or settled him, if ever, no one knows.

The scam in the title is implied to also be love scam, not just monetary scam since the incidences stated include relationship matters and the females involved insisted the males were scamming them.

Scandal might also apply perhaps.

Lord have mercy sha.

The ugly on sight story happened to another nairalander years ago who even though she actually wasn't ugly, arranged to meet a nler who never showed up at the venue but instead sent a text saying he changed his mind (I think). Although he was watching her the whole time she was there.

She opened a thread detailing her experience and the guy replied her asking why she easily decided to meet up with a total stranger in that manner.

Intriguing thread.

Different versions of same story. The involved male is still on NLD but the female has long stopped posting. And yeah, she's not ugly so that whole story was ridiculous to me.

So many romance scandals in fact. The females involved are people I personally like/ respect so lipsrsealed plus I think the males most thing blow things out of proportion to spite the ladies.

haba, na by force to remember names?

I said the thread was ages ago, maybe like 6,7 years or more, it was a while back.

I cant confabulate names since I wouldn't even know where to start and I don't want to send you on a wild goose chase when checking out the story, or would you prefer I did?

Different versions of same story.

it wasn't the same set of people. The male nler was a regular poster then, if I recollect his name, everyone who saw the thread at the time would know him.

Another version of yours would be the lady who travelled from overseas to meet a male nler as part of her itinerary, and he came as a meat seller so she backtracked and later opened a thread about the experience. (Have you ever been catfished or something like that).

He first gave her a shock by appearing in very nasty clothes and torn slippers, then he began his greetings with "ok I just want to tell you I am actually a meat seller but I used my friend's picture to post on nl, etc etc".

It's definitely different stories. I think I faintly remember the " meat seller, fake picture etc" story and thread , it trended on the romance section.

The " dumped at airport/ ugly" story was between a popular single female NLDer ( us based) and a somewhat popular ( sports peeps) UK based male NLDer.
