Hello Dear,

To qualify for PGD, Journalism, you must be a graduate from a recognized university with at least second-class lower division, third class or have qualifications adjudged to be equivalent to a first degree. Holders of a HND with a minimum of Upper Credit from a recognized institution may also apply. Guess you now see why the system rejected the application. I do not know any course that is immediately within the grasp of your qualifications (as I am a Science/Technology student myself) but I am sure you will get a better response if you make out time to visit the nearest study center. I desire to be a lecturer, if I bagged my msc at NOUN, will it be acceptable in other Federal, state and private Universities? I am just afraid of going into what will not pay me at the end of the day. Can you please clear this dark cloud?

I am confused now. I paid 40000 into my portal on monday. Plus 14k I have before make it a total of 54k. The compulsory fee of 23k was deducted and I registered all my courses for this semester. But to my surprise the project with is 6 units was not going, when I checked well I realised that it was actually 40k for project registration.
My balance after course registration was 14k that is why project was not going.

Now these are my questions

1. Must I register for project with 40k before I start project proper?

2. I will still register project under exam registration?

3. Can I finish the project and my program in noun this semester considering I don't have any failed course. To avoid paying for a third semester.

4. Hints on how to submit project topics, get approval and surpervisor on time.

5. Can u help me with any federal university name(s) that may accept me for PHD. Actually I am considering University of Ibadan do you think or know anybody they accept provided he meet up with the basic requirements.

6. Lastly are u through with Noun?

Well your questions were not directed to me but let me help. As for Acceptability and Validity trust me it's 100%. However, there is always the tendency to make you feel less of them that did their Masters in other institutions. It will all finally be based on your personal ability and what you know an how you can defend what you know. Do not let anyone make you feel less because it's an NUC approved institution to run postgraduate programme. Check their site

1. Well, you don't need to pay the 40k before you start the process for the project writing. If indeed you want to round up this semester you should have submitted you topic last semester. Anyway, you can do it now as quick as possible so before the semester ends you start writing and assigned a supervisor quick. But you must pay the 40k before the portal closes.

2. Yes you will register it 2k.

3. Yes you can. This was information I lacked that made me spent more than 2. But the bottom line is make sure you have 40 credit unit minimum at the end of the day.

4. I already answered part of this in 1. However, rush to your SC drop 3 topics typied to the counsellor or whoever is in charge but trust me you should have done it long ago cos there is usually delay sometimes but it's not too late.

5. I know 5 people in the north cos am based here. As for schools that accepts it, ABU Zaria, ATBU Bauchi, Nasarawa state University keffi, and University of Jos currently have NOUN students doing PhD. Trust me it's NUC approved check their site, you have nothing to worry about. The worst is they give you Mphil of 1year.

6. I will leave that question for the person you asked.

Like I have explained earlier, a lot of things interplay to determine one's school fees in a semester including the number of avaialable courses, the number of electives you dropped and the ones you picked etc. .. So, we might not necessarily be paying the same amount. A good budget might be 160k for both semesters. I spent 78k in first semester and 83k in second semester but then, I didn't drop any elective.

This has been answered over and over again on this thread already. You have a minimum of two semesters (a year). But it's actually up to you. It is very flexible so it depends on how many courses you take per semester. Depending on your schedule/capacity, you can combine everything in a couple of semesters or decide to take it easy on yourself by taking another semester specifically for project.

The PROJECT found under the exam category is not meant to be registered.

The compulsory fee was 41k for us. I wouldn't know if it has been changed. Yes, you can load your e-wallet with enough cash for every payment. I said, "load your e-wallet" cause that's what you're basically doing when you pay in at the bank. After the payment, you can now log onto your portal to use the cash for anything - basically exam and course registration - and view your balance at any point. Exam registration fee is simply 2k per paper. After paying, it reflects on your e-wallet, you log in and use the cash for course registration. Print out the course registration slip and take it to school for clearance. You can also register for your exams if they are already available on the portal or do that later with the fund remaining on your wallet. A stamped print-out of the exam registration slip and your ID card are the things you need to enter the exam hall with when the time comes.

Note that when you go to the bank to pay, they will tell you cannot pay more than a certain amount. This doesn't mean you can't fill your e-wallet at a time, it simply means you need to use more than one teller for that.
