This is bad, though I also knew it was going to happen very soon. Some people have seen the desperation of buyers' need for cheaper funds. Alot of people are also not careful enough. I sold $1200 to a lady from nairaland 2 or three days ago, me sef shock.. Conversation went like this:

Her: Hello, I am *** from nairaland, do you still have paypal funds?

Me: Hi there, Yes I do.

Her: Ur rate?

Me: 240

Her: Do you have GTB?

Me: Yes

Her: Alright, that is better, send me your account details, let me transfer now. ...

.....

I say this madam no dey fear? Well maybe she has done her due diligence beforehand. My profile is enough! I have most likely been a forum member longer than anyone here (Nearly 10 Years). And if you open a thread today and say toluxa1 scammed you, there are many many people that will bring you to my house.

But my advice is, please be careful with who you deal with! Deal with only tested and trusted people here.

There will be more of this. Everyone is now using PayPal funds to scam Nairalanders. Don't just buy funds from anyone.

The scammer got his fund back and my naira. just be very careful, there are a lot of them here. it is better to use a card that charges N300 than to be scammed in the name of get it cheap with someone you can't trust.

the essence of places like this is to expose them. i have bought alot of things on nairaland without every meeting the person,please lets come together are get this scammers. when my atm got block in december after they set daily limit.i bought paypal hereon nairaland. please say no to scammers.

I've customers who even demanded to know my house before transacting with me.
And I've customers who didn't meet up with me but demanded that we do the transfer in batches.ie in batches of 50usd up till 700usd. Though most times after the first 3 batches are done we transact the rest at once cos there is now trust

Name and shame the person if you got fleeced of that sum of money.

If you're a genuine Paypal fund seller, the best method is for your client to deposit into the account while keeping their proof of invoice. (bit of an inconvenience, but unless you're planning to get hit)
Buyers should resist rates that are especially crazy and do due diligence I guess.
