A visa doesn't grant you a RIGHT to enter a country. Ultimately, the decision to let you in rests with the guys manning Immigration control at the port of entry. They have every right not to let you in, they can choose to turn you back without any reason provided. If you flout immigration rules by lying on your visa application about your intent, they can send you home. It's not your country, it's theirs.

2. Unless i'm mistaken you can't just buy a one way ticket.

3. If i have a credit card, how are they going to know how much i have on it.

4. There is a weight limit on luggage even before you leave your home country.

5. The traveler is just st.upid. The world has gone digital. It is not even an issue.

6. That point is also s.tupid. It has nothing to do with anything.

7. Doesn't make any sense.

8. Doesn't make any sense.

9. Doesn't make any sense.

10. Doesn't make any sense.

Have you ever been in a secondary inspection situation & seen LIVE EVENTS or you are just arguing for the sheer hell of punching holes in the post

The only thing the OP didn't elaborate on was that, none of these points are the norm @ the main border point , it is when people are sent for further questions & answers that story dey enter.. Those CBP people can be funny especially the immigrants & 1st gen offsprings of immigrants...

Polite gini

They wil not only invade your privacy by upturning your bag, going through your phones& asking you personal questions (during secondary inspection), they will do it in the presence of everyone around!!

They are hoping for a reason to deny you entry, you mouthing off & being recalcitrant will make it super easy for them!!! cheesy cheesy

Two different things, bag search happens every now and then, even here in Lagos. Phone search is a definite No No. Personally, I find it demeaning as they wouldn't try that with any self respecting person.

Again, any self respecting person would say No and cite privacy policy and subsequent offer to make available any document or answer any question that would help them come to a decision. I am sure you would do just fine if your purpose of entry is genuine.

No, i've never been in a secondary inspection situation because i ain't s.tupid. You are given ample information from the consulate before you travel. I honestly don't see these scenarios happening unless the traveler is dubious in the first place. If you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to fear. Simple.

Go post. A warning and advise. Been round the world and even on the sternest POE officer and kept aside to alsmost miss connecting flight there was no fear. Even laughed and smiled not bothered cause I travel to spend big not to collect money from their country.

If they dont want me in fine, their loss not mine ( except my ticket and time).

A friend had his atm card and 100 uSD the border control officer was furious but still let him in.

Just to add a few point, make sure you dress properly. Most often, the way people address you depends on how your are dressed and have all the necessary information you need off hand.....Good luck.

We won't argue, anytime you are chanced , go to the give birth in USA thread & read transcripts of ladies who left Nigeria with B2 (intention in the open) visas, ample cash & Dr's correspondences & still had hours to wait while the presented docs were verified, phone checked & money counted in the full glare of everyone there....

Someone was asked to log in to her online banking platform, show them her balance & they googled rate in order to confirm that her story about being in a position to pay & not resort to medicaid added up...

They are random but once sec inspection enters, best thing is to just be calm & collected..

Lol.....All the points are rubbish. Unless you hid in a suitcase up to the point of entry, you would not even encounter any of these issues because you won't even have a visa in the first place. The guy is just typing rubbish and you are swallowing it.

To be on a safe side, all u need do is make a hotel reservation, for few days even 1 day even if u will stay with someone. I had a similar experience, was supposed to go for a FAT but somehow d project delayed and my visa was about expiring, I had to use it for a vacation for 7days. Went with a small box. I. Was saved by d small box and d 1 night hotel reservation.

There are some very naive and inexperienced people spouting political nonsense here.
They are going to get a very rude shock when they try to be clever at point of entry.

Not worth debating with such people.

A lady was sent back after checking her phone and they found out she is already charging someone to braid her hair when she arrives.
They said she came to work and she had a visitors visa. Simple text messages fit make you enter problem.

If you ever encounter the immigration at Schiphol airport as a first time traveller with a naija passport and successfully pass their screening, then know say with a little bit more work, you can make heaven. Those guys are baaaad. Their mere looking at you sef, it's as if you were made of glass. They see through you, your heartbeat, and what goes on in your mind.

Na lie joor. I don pass there countless times. Frequent traveler on KLM. Na Schipol easy pass. You try Frankfurt make you know.

I have a dream that one day, other Nationals will be struggling to obtain Naija Visa to come visit.

Fellow Nairalander, let us educate our people. Do not attempt to travel outside the Country if you don't have any genuine reason to do so.

Gone are those days when you can travel outside to hussle and be successful. Every Nation on earth has got there own problems.

If you have your money to spend on holidays and will return home. Excellent! If you are going to further your education, perfect!

Use your hard earned money to do something meaningful for yourself in ur land. Travelling outside the Country is not what it used to be. Be aware of this.

Try and give the black race some dignity. If the whites had decided to run away from their country when things were hard, who would have built their nations that everyone is trying to run to now?

On the final note, if you don't have any genuine reason for traveling, please do not travel!

The problem most people have is inferiority complex, lack of confidence and lack of naturalness.

Some people are also too dumb to do basic things by themselves. Hotel booking. Dem no fit do them self despite having MasterCard or Visa card. To book flight na problem. Everything na agent. To fill jamb or waec form na problem. Everything has to be done for them. Once someone like immigration officers at airport begin question dem, stammering go start. These guys are trained to watch human behavioral attributes of tense and lying people. Then they pull you aside and wahala don start.

At least ninety five percent of what the OP laid out is wrong.

Had to read again and I can tell 2, 3, 7 and 8 aren't wrong. On point 2, if you are travelling on a business visa without any money or travellers check with you at the POE, you may be scrutinised and refused entry. This is common in a country like Germany.

On the 3rd point, if you're traveling as a health tourist for instance and you couldn't provide documents of the hospital that invited you and the diagnosis of your ailment, one can be denied entry. So on this I think he's right.

I don't know about U.S but I've heard of stories where heavily pregnant women where denied entry in the UK for not indicating in their visa application that they were pregnant. This, I think is related to his point 8.

But haba, you should know he's talking from a Nigerian point of view and specifically those who travel with hidden intent of seeking for greener pasture and not returning back. We know how it is with Nigerians and emigrating using bogus means na. grin
