Why Is "IPOB Youth" Used To Describe Anyone With A Different Opinion? by makazona(m): 12:45pm On Jan 30, 2016
I have noticed in recent times that anyone whether from the North, West, South and/or East that makes any comment (no matter how intelligent such may be) against popular opinion/the government, is quickly labeled an IPOB Youth. grin

I say this because it is not healthy especially in a situation where the excesses of the government need to be constantly checked by all Nigerians not minding political, tribal and religious affiliation.

It is in my opinion, selfish to believe that everyone must always buy every idea churned out by the government. This has led to unnecessary rivalry between persons on this forum as it seems some in support of an idea cant stand any opposition to their idea by anybody.

In a frustrating economy like ours, the only way some persons vent their anger/frustration is by speaking out. Lets learn to ignore or criticize with decorum.

Let the majority have their WAY and the minority, their SAY.

It is not used to describe anyone with a different opinion but anyone with an opinion spewed based on tribal bigotry.

Look at how they've been calling for the head of the new minister of finance just cos she's a yoruba who replaced a corrupt and unfit Ngozi okonjo iweala who is their sister. To them, the economic woes we are battling was caused by an administration that came into power few months ago even when investigations point fingers to ngozi okonjo iweala.

IPOB youths are silly and brainless enemy of the state. No criticism of theirs is out of genuine love for the Nation. They just want to see it burn.

That is to say that only IPOB youths have the monopoly of tribal bigotry?

Why is an igbo dude who doesn't believe in the dreams of IPOB/KANU referred to as a Yoruba/Northerner?

To show how really petty and shallow your thinking is, I have been posting on NL since 2011.
I started hearing about Ipob about 6 months ago. I never paid attention to whatever they were doing until Nnamdi Kanu's arrest and detention.

I voted for GEJ in 2011 and voted for Buhari in 2015( though I am regretting it now).

Just like I criticized GEJ, I am also criticizing Buhari on a number of important national issues.

I am also critical of the new finance minister ( whom I don't know because she is seems invisible) because, she hasn't come out to lay out her government's economic vision for the next 4 years.
Heck, she has not even made a single appearance to sell and defend her first national budget proposal of her government.
Why?

I am guessing that Buhari wants to micromanage things.
In such a case, she should quitely find the exit door.
Buhari doesn't understand economics. That is a fact, not an insult.

Now, my question is,
Am I your so-called Ipob youth?

Even those teenagers and youths running around Nnamdi Kanu as their hero, probably have more common sense and courage than most of you silly chicken-hearted adults.
They believe they are fighting for something, whether they are right or misguided.

When exactly, at what era in our history did protesting for something , especially youths, become something silly, a taboo, to be derided by the intellectual class?

The bottom line , my friend is that Ipob, labelling people as Ipob youth, is just a convenient smokescreen to freely and unabashedly express your tribal bigotry, which in itself, is a symptom of a deeper shallowness within.

Well, if you are here to fool people, then speak for yourself.

News alert!!
The political campaigns have been over since May.

Everyone's job now ,to is to open eyes, continually scrutinizing and calling our political leaders to order and accountability.

Being "oh yes' members and zombies to political leaders turns erstwhile good leaders into budding despots, and empowers them to fxxx your asxx with even greater impunity.

We have to demystify leadership, by being continually vigilant, and critical of them when the need arises.

I hope your mind is not too opaque to understand the above.

Because the only noise makers, thread derailers and wailers on nairaland are the ipob youths. They're a nuisance to the civility of any environment they find themselves and a disease to the world with their criminal activities ranging from drug peddling, baby making factories, cannibalism, kidnapping and what have you. Have you ever wondered why they have flàtheads? This is because they were born to do manual labour with their head.

Is Nigeria a country to show genuine love? Nigeria is an unfortunate joke. You are heaping all these curses on IPOB peeps simply because they wanted to get rid of anything Nigeria from their metabolic system. Nigeria is a man-made entity bound to end sooner or later. There is no need to be stupid on the instances of the disintegration.

Do you think Nigeria should be split into parts or we should continue like this?

Lol. It's not funny though. Every thread where contrary views are expressed you'd see the words 'IPOB youth' laced in between and you wonder what else is the dearth of commonsense.

Initially I thought Seun was truly helpless but now I know better. He's actually in support of it. For him everything is business. If he wants the insults today to stop it will stop.

You ban an idea but then you allow those who insult the idea to roam freely. Of a sudden being against Buhari equates you to the class of IPOB youths and the Seun guy is watching. The genocide that followed the counter coup had root in this.

It's obvious Nigerians do not like each other. But what baffles is the decision to still stay together. I dont understand this. You see me as an enemy and I return the favour but we'd still choose to sleep in one bedroom. What sort of Wisdom is that?

It's such a funny irony.
As an Igbo , you're not allowed to have an opinion, you're not allowed protest, just stay and be happy being insulted, cheated and hated.
Since you don't like me , let go and chart my own course.
Noooo way, that's an aberration, an unspeakable crime.

You know Reyginus, what shocks me most is the forgetfulness, the selective amnesia that so pervades this nation.

Just few Short years ago in this country, under the jackboots of Abacha, the southwest elites were wailing uncontrollably for a Sovereign National Conference.
The late Pa Abraham Adesanya, the late Pa Ajasin, the Late Bola Ige, Flip Flop Wole Soyinka, Bola Tinubu and countless others screamed down own ears the need for a Sovereign National Conference to discuss and rearrange the federal structure and other terms of our marriage as one nation.

Shortly after that, the Niger Delta elites started agitation for full resource control, another name for true confederation.

At one time or another, OPC , Arewa youths, etc have threatened the peaceful coexistence of Nigeria, without incurring wrathful insults for the entire Yoruba or Northern ethnic groups.

How many Ipob youths are there , and why is everyone soooo scared and terrified of them ?
Is it a genuine fear or just as we all suspect, a convenient excuse to freely express the tribal jihadism in all of them ?

I personally think that area boys in Lagos , who extort half of one trillion Naira from our economy every year, constitute a farrrr greater nuisance and danger to Nigeria , our economic wellbeing, our unity and social cohesion than any militant or criminal group in any other part of Nigeria.

It's funny how no one ever talks about it.

We always pretend to have forgotten critical things in this country. I don't like Kanu's method but then I don't think he did what nobody's ever done.

The same Buhari who's angry for Kanu's harsh words was the same person who talked about the blood of Dogs and Baboons spilling if what happened in 2011 repeats itself. We all know his meaning is simply, if I lose the election was rigged but if I win it was free and fair.

In this same country a King was caught on tape telling a certain tribe to vote for his candidate or else they risk being drown in the lagoon. I think he is in a similar category with Kanu because they both will not fulfill their harsh words. But that of Buhari has been seen to come to pass.

I still remember the story of the corper who ran into a police station but was forced out and killed by Buharis supporters because he lost an election. But we pretend to forget atrocities and choose the ones to remember.

The only solution to Nigeria is to split or a strong leader who will destroy organized Religion and create a one-tribe state. This could have been possible under the military or monarchy system but in a democracy it will not happen.
