Here's the link, I found it for you: https://www.nairaland.com/2384378/

I went thru his profile, nothing there suggests he's a reputable dealer. And for God's sake he registered in 2015.
Same here too. I cannot give FortuneVal one shilling to hold for me after going through his profile.

Why do you people not voice out, speak out before going into secret transactions? Why? Dis thing don pain me gan.

FortuneVal,please don't let the Devil use you. Call the Op and deliver his car or refund his money.

I am still struggling to understand why you didn't just ask your Lagos based friend to pick up the car and park it at MM2 till you are ready? How do you send someone you have never met, money and not collect your item immediately? Even if the Fortuneval did not set out to defraud, having that much money might have made him think twice.

@OP, leave Nairaland and go after him with Police and EFCC. The guy has no plans of paying you your money. Don't be surprised when you get a phone call from "his brother" to tell you that he was involved in an accident and has since been buried.

Thank you. After I went through that profile, I said same thing. And the way the OP behaved too is annoying. Why was he in a hurry to pay money? He wanted to deal with Mikkyangel in March for a few thousands of naira, he was so cautious up to opening a thread. Now he wanted to deal on a higher scale, it was shrouded in secrecy. This is so annoying.

From ur write up,you sent him 37k to perfect the documents of the car, with 37k I. Should believe the papers were changed to ur own name, how come he suggested u change D car when the Audi is registered in ur name?he might not have had plans to dupe initially but wen u leave all in his possession after paying 1.07m,if someone come and prices higher than u,don't u think he will sell it?a bird in hand is worth a million in D bush,u should have grabbed it or asked ur friend and mech to take it after inspecting.
Sorry bro, report to efcc and let his bankers place a lien on his account

I used to visit this board with the hope that one day, I'll buy a nice ride here.

But as it seems now, I may stop visiting this area of nairaland and completely rule out my doing business with anyone here.

Everyday is one scam story or the other. I don't want to be seduced with any car. People are becoming too wicked.

You need to get the authorities involved.

You might spend more money but I think it's worth it to teach these scammers a lesson.

Someone here dropped a hint about another seller using the same number with a different moniker. Organize something . Be creative . I think it's possible to catch the people/person behind this.

sir go to the efcc and give them info about the car also if it is registered becos I don't think the guy actually owned the car so if the authorities can lay hands on the real owner of the car, then they will catch the guy because they are both into the deal.I believe you have pics of the car and other vital info. I do not blame u sir becos like u,I use to trust people easily till I learnt the hard way. its now a crime to trust people in this country when money is involve.

Ermm EXCUSE me... why am I being called here..? And who says I use same number as Fortune Val...??

Fortune Val SOLD MY CARS AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY FUNDS FROM HIM. LATER HE SAID IF HE CAN SELL HIS CAR; HE CAN BE ABLE TO PAY ME. I HELPED HIM TO ADVERTISE SO THAT HE CAN SELL HIS CAR TO PAY ME. HE LATER TOLD ME SOMEONE GAVE HIM CHECK TO CLEAR AND HE HAS NOW SOLD THE CAR AND I SHOULD TAKE IT DOWN. Next he said BVN issue means he cannot clear check and he will get back to me. THAT WAS THE LAST I HEARD FROM HIM!!!

EVEN BEFORE NOW; I DISCUSSED SAME THING WHEN I WANTED TO GO COLLECT MY CAR FROM HIM WHEN HE CLAIMED IT HAS NOT BEEN SOLD; I INVOLVED BEHIND THE SCENE FHEMMMY AND GAZZUZZ and that was how I got to know that indeed my car has been sold.

I AM NOT BASED IN NIGERIA AND THEREFORE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DO MUCH AND I'M NOT ONE TO COME ONLINE TO START SCREAMING OR SHOUTING UNTIL I'M SURE THAT I HAVE INDEED BEEN SCAMMED. AS MUCH AS I DO NOT WANT TO BELIEVE THAT I HAVE BEEN SCAMMED BECAUSE THE EMEKA (FORTUNE VAL) I MET CONVINCED ME OF HOW A NICE PERSON THAT HE IS.

SO I DO NOT WANT TO BE DRAGGED INTO THIS ISSUE!! ANYONE THAT DEALT WITH FORTUNE SHOULD WORK WITH HIM.

MY VEHICLES WHICH HE SOLD ON MY BEHALF AND THEY WERE PARKED IN HIS PLACE.

2008 MDX ACCRA WHICH I HAVE NOT RECEIVED PAYMENT FOR
2011 TOYOTA CAMRY WHICH I RECEIVED PART PAYMENT FOR

I INITIALLY BOUGHT THE MDX ACURA THROUGH HIM JUNE 2015 AND THAT WAS MY FIRST TIME OF KNOWING HIM OR DEALING WITH HIM BUT THE ACURA TURNED OUT TO BE A BAD BUY AND HE DECIDED TO RESELL IT FOR ME!! AND I KEPT HEARING STORIES OF THE CAR BEING AVAILABLE UNTIL I ASKED FHEMMMY WHO I HAVE BOUGHT A CAR FROM TO SEND SOMEONE THERE TO PICK IT UP AND I ALSO INVOLVED GAZZUZZ FOR PICK UP AS WELL BUT THAT WAS WHEN I GOT TO KNOW THAT INDEED HE HAS LONG SOLD THE CAR AND HELD BACK MY FUNDS..

Before anyone makes any assumptions; they should be clear to know who it is they re making slight remarks about.

I do not think anyone will come here to accuse me of anything; weda taking anything from them or defrauding them; so I wouldn't take it likely with anyone who tries to smear my name.

Just because I have not come to nairaland to open a thread to scream fortune does not mean I'm not working behind the scene to get back my money, not everyone come online to display their life story.

I have neither spoken to anyone on behalf of Fortune nor have I dealt with anyone... just like some people claim they were burnt; so was I and badly in my case but again like I said; I'm working on my own. I do not know about any other persons; I was not there when you transacted with him and I will ask not to be dragged into it. You all can go through my profile; I have no time coming to nairaland to discuss my story. Unlike many people; I have a job which keeps me busy.

I can't just think about people getting scammed while people are getting wiser by the day. Can't the OP go inspect the car himself?pay and drive the car away.Does it mean all dealers on nairaland are fraudsters? if not seun should do something ASAP to bring sanity back to the auto section. NO TRUST!!!!

Booking

I think major dealers should be registered separately, casual dealers should fill online forms with verifiable info before posting or subrent an advert space from a major dealer.

The criteria should include basic biometrics, BVN and a sworn undertaken signed and endorsed by a Notary public.

I hope this helps.

I made that suggestion on the thread by Nextrend against Churky234.

The question I want to ask now is, how come my recommendation that got the support of many posters on that thread didn't get to be implemented?

This just adds to the growing number of fraudulent cases in the auto section which is even too many to count or remember .

Ebay, aliexpress and the examples you quoted are registered companies with directors and sound management. Secondly they also have in place anti fraud departments that protects their businesses despite all these they are still hit by credit card frauds and many others . PayPal has a very strict seller protection policy, what all these means is that the companies you quoted don't take stupid risks. They protect themselves very very well against fraud. In this case here many ppl in this auto section send money out to individuals they have not even seen ,the only thing they rely on is nairaland image ,that is stupidity.it is good to always make sure you protect yourself against fraud. Ph to Lagos isn't too far, extra 30k may have saved the buyer his over 1million naira loss . If you want to buy a car frm nairaland auto section make sure you see the car with your two eyes ,feel the car, test it then pay and drive it off.

I tried so hard not to comment but i feel i should say something here . . . .

While it has been said many times for Nairaland to be a safer place, i however put the onus of us the people, because Nairaland is not a Nairaland without the people that are on it.

I have been on Nairaland for almost 8 years doing business and people i have NEVER met or known sent me millions of Naira to buy rides or phones and i CAN BOASTFULLY SAID, I HAVE NEVER TAKEN WHAT IS NOT MINE, it is therefore not really a good statement that trusting the people is the problem.

Again, i am an advocate of making Nairaland auto section a safer place to do business BUT It is the people that needs to value their names.

We still await a Nairaland auto section where people could do business and go to sleep at night without thinking if he or she has been scammed.

All those big companies you stated started from somewhere BUT the difference with those and Nairaland is their willingness to listen and make their service better.
