A private is a soldier without a rank. Then don't wear any pip (that thing on the shoulder of their uniform, where the rank is indicated)

I'm sorry bro, but you are wrong. Even a warrant officer doesn't wear pip, only a commissioned officer does. Now, a private is a rank, but it's the least rank in the Non-Commissioned Officer cadre, and equally the least in the entire army. When they are on training, they are recruits, immediately they passout, they become privates and ascend in that order.

I can swear that staff sergeant collects more than #150k

You're very wrong. I have a brother and sister in the Army. 150k is the amount they ought to get from FG but when it gets to the finance unit of Nigeria Army, half of that is what they end up getting thanks to corruption. Payslip from CBN to that rank is about that amount but in reality, half is the alert they get. My sister is sergeant and her pay is sixty something thousand.

A Private Soldier is the least rank or a no-rank in the Nigerian Army.

When one finishes from the training, s/he is addressed as a Private Soldier...just as we have Airmen as our equal in the Nigerian Air force.

Contrary to the belief by most people that the
Nigerian Army are being paid heavily, the
opposite is the case as the Nigerian Army
salary structure reveals that these men who
risk their lives to defend the sovereignty of
Nigeria go home with stipends.

A Nigerian soldier is being paid according to
his or her rank and years of service. The list
below is a report seen as of December 2015..

Salary Structure of the Nigerian
Army
Private Soldier earns about N48-49,000
Lance Corporal earns about N54-55,
Corporal earns N58,000
Sergeant earns N63,000
Staff Sergeant earns N68,000
Warrant Officer earns N80,000
Master Warrant Officer earns N90,000

Nigerian Army Salary Structure for
Commissioned Officers
Second Lieutenant- N120,000
Lieutenant- N180,000
Captain- N220,000
Major- N300,000
Lt. Colonel- N350,000
Colonel- N550,000
Brigadier General- N750,000
Major General- N950,000
Lt. General- N1 million
General- N1.5 million
Those are the salary of Nigerian soldiers.
What is your take on the Nigerian Army
Salary?..

They live in barracks, paying no rent, access to free medicals. Children go to military school free. They use their uniform to perpetrate atrocities that load them with money. The top ones collect money from civilians living in mammy market.

If not of boko haram and the nigerdelta militancy, these people are like ministry workers, they are always idle not doing anything in the office. Some dont even have.

Come to think of it, what is their level of education especially the soldiers.

THERE IS NOTHING LIKE ALLOWAMCE, THE MILITARY AUTHORITY DURING THE RIGIM OF GENERAL DANBAZAU SAID THAT ALL THE ALLOWACE HAS BEEN LEVEL ON THE SALARY SO THERE IS NOTHING LIKE ALLOWANCES. HONESTLY, THE TRADITION, ETHICS, AND CUSTOM OF THE NIHERIAN ARMY, THE MILITARY RULES AND CODE OF CONDUCT NEED TO BE REVIEW.

From January to December that is what they earn, apart from other professional benefits like medical allowance paid by world health organization otherwise nothing like allowance added to that.

why did you Leave?
I was never in the army. I did my NYSC there.
Sorry if I made it look like I was with them.
My one year within the barracks made that job very unattractive despite all the encouragement by our CO then that I should apply for the DSS and he might have one or two strings to pull to get me shortlisted for my state.

Does this excludes allowance? It is quite low. Unfortunately the world is built on weird rationales the more risky and stressful your job is the less your pay seem to be.
You are right..nigeria nurses are the case study

my thoughts exactly. And some people are earning thousands of pounds weekly for just playing football that has no single value to the economy. No wonder in this our generation, everybody wants to be a footballer or musician or a model simply because that's where the money is!

I don't know how all this nonsense came to be. Only human that think like me are truly humans. All the rest are rams
