D first extreme is those who do not fast at all and end up indulging their flesh (d spirit is willing d flesh is weak) d second extreme is those who do it without wisdom and end up destroying d flesh (remember apostle paul pleading with those sailors on their voyage to Rome to eat something)
I recommend a book by Kenneth hagin "common sense guide to fasting". Its among d books i compressed and shared on dis thread sometimes ago.

FASTING: Private Discipline That Brings Public Reward- Jentezen Franklin.

This is how I see it. Fasting is a spiritual exercise which opens our spiritual sensitivities. How do I mean? The Bible says, God is a spirit, and to access him, we most do that in spirit and in truth? But, man, the real man, who was a spirit, died in Eden after the Fall. The part which was left was the flesh. Man has spend all his life in the flesh, feeding and gratifying it's lusts. Everything sensual is in the flesh.
A full stomach can easily blaspheme against God, hence; Solomon prayed a prayer,

" Two things have I required of thee: Deny me not them before I die; Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor Riches: FEED ME WITH FOOD CONVENIENT FOR ME: LET'S I BE FULL, AND DENY THEE, AND SAY WHO IS THE LORD?... Prov. 30:7-9

A man who lives in the flesh thinks about the things of the flesh only, because it's Fleshy. But When Christ resurrected from the dead, the spiritual part of man was restored, but haven spend time so long gratifying the flesh, it becomes a struggle to live in the spirit.
The flesh knows that, for the spirit to be awake, it has to be subdued, and it doesn't like being subdued, so it wars against the spirit (Gal 5:17).

To suppress the flesh, you deny it of its gratification, LUSTS. Food, drinks, sex. Anything that empowers it through fasting.

Fasting is the abstinence from food, water, sex(for the married), for ladies (makeups) and anything the flesh desires, for an allotted time to access the supernatural, with the sole intent of provoking God to do what is beyond man.

Like I said, The deep calleth to the deep. So to access God, we stir up our spirit man, and the only way we can do that, is by suppressing the flesh through abstinence/fasting.

The saying that, "The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak". The flesh is weak in the sense that, through lust, and gratification, it becomes complacent and lazy towards the things of God, it doesn't want stress or pain.
When you fast, you starve Satan, that's because Satan feeds on your lusts. Check what Isa 58 Satan feeds on our strives,(disagreement that engenders quarreling), fist of wickedness (fighting and causing harm). These things feed Satan.
But you give life to the spirit when your flesh is weak.
Fasting for me, is actually a meeting place between the spirit of God and the spirit of man, for a deeper fellowship.
It brings about;
Spiritual discipline,
Renewed dedication,
Inward cleansing.
Spiritual empowerment, and
Speedy answers to prayers.

Do not be discouraged! Its all but a passing phase, stay strong and do not relent! Remember the tough times never last and you know you have a God who is willing and able to supply all your needs according to His riches in glory, plus you also know that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you could ever ask for, so why worry so much! I see your posts most times on this and today I felt touched to minister some words of encouragement. Brother, do not despair but let your faith guide you. The good Lord will meet you at the point of all your needs... Keep an open mind and remain blessed...

From my little knowledge the chemistry of fasting and prayers is that it draws us closer to God cause when fasting you build up your spirit man because you give up earthly comforts and pleasures at that time and focus on God. God is compelled to answer our prayers when we fast because by fasting and prayers we draw close to God and he draws close to us and when God draws close to you, you experience inspiration, revelation, deliverance, break through and may more.

Fasting and prayers is one way to strengthen your relationship with God and that's what God wants from us he wants to have a personal relationship with us, God wants us to have a personal experience of him.

Miracles from Heaven, you guyz could look up the story online and also look out for the movie too.

Not everyone has a movie and book based on their real-life saga, but 13-year-old Annabel Beam knows what that feels like.

Sitting on her couch in Cleburne, Texas, she discusses the differences between the upcoming movie Miracles From Heaven , which stars Jennifer Garner , and her mother's book by the same name.

"At first, I was a little worried about it," she says of the minor changes. "But now I'm like, 'You know what? They had to do it, like, dramanational.' "

"Dramanational!" laughs big sister Abbie, 16.
"I don't even know why I said that!" Annabel yells with glee. "I meant to say 'dramatic license,' but I was like, 'dramanational.' "

Annabel, whom Abbie calls "the goofiest kid I've ever met," may also be one of the luckiest. In December 2011, after suffering from a chronic intestinal disorder for four years, she fell headfirst 30 feet inside a hollow tree in their yard, somehow emerging without serious injuries. And somehow free of her stomach disorder.

Annabel says she visited heaven while trapped inside the tree.Asking to stay with Jesus – there was no stomach pain in heaven – she says he told her, "No, Annabel, I have plans for you on Earth that you can't fulfill in heaven."

Finding herself back in the tree, she waited for rescuers to send down a harness to pull her up. But she wasn't alone, she says; a guardian angel was there to keep her company.

"In the tree, the angel winked at me as if they were saying, 'You're gonna be all right now,' " she tells PEOPLE.
The firefighters who rescued her "kept saying how eerily calm and peaceful Annabel was," says her mother, Christy Beam. "If anyone was entombed in the base of a tree for five hours, they'd be hysterical. But she never was."

After Anna told her parents about going to heaven – and after they realized her stomach was suddenly well – "God totally laid it on my heart to write this book," Christy says. "I literally said, 'No, God, that's so cute. I don't write, but thank you anyway.' "

But after more prayer and encouragement by others, "I bought a laptop and just started. It was so cathartic."
The book wasn't even on the shelves yet when a movie agreement was made. Starring Garner as Christy, it opens in theaters on March 16.

The Beams know there will be people who don't believe the movie or the book. Annabel's stomach condition, called pseudo-obstruction mobility disorder and antral hypo motility disorder , is associated with the nervous system, so some have theorized that it cleared up when she hit her head in the tree.

Abbie says people have approached her and exclaimed, "That's so amazing! The fall healed her!"
"I'm like, 'No, what happened after the fall healed her,' " she adds.

As for a medical explanation, "the doctors don't know," Christy says. "They just say she's asymptomatic and on zero medications."

Kevin Beam, Annabel's father, says there is one thing he knows for sure: "The girl who fell in the tree is not the girl who came out of that tree."

To those who doubt her story, Annabel has a few words.
"What I want to say is this," she says. "Believe in it if you want to. We put this out so you could have a stronger faith and probably a better life. But we're not trying to force it down your throat. So you can believe as you want, but we put this out there to help you, not hurt you."
Christy, who is working on a children's version of her book, has more free time these days, now that Annabel's recurring hospital stays are a thing of the past.

"Sometimes, it's nice to just sit back and laugh," she says of her family's life now. "It's nice to absorb it and just be grateful."

Am a born again,spirit filled believer. I have d gifts of dreams and spirit of discernment. Last night, I dreamt of working as a chef to a very wealthy woman. I was asked to prepare a delicacy and after preparing, the woman didn't even taste d meal but was complaining bitterly that its not well prepared. A fight broke off and one of her sons came with a knife to stab me but I overpowered them and instead collected the knife and stab the mother.In that dream, some policemen came to arrest me but they didn't as I was arguing that it was a self defence. They left and I woke up very disturbed.

When Harvard psychiatrist Dr. John Mack talked to the witnesses of an extraterrestrial encounter in 1994, he concluded that they were telling the truth.

Our discussion about Demon and trying to use medium to gain access to our world and dominated is being proved in many ways only if we observed our daily life activities.

Brethren, I need a little guide on this issue. Something happened yesterday that I saw myself reprimanding a frnd of something I was equally guilty of & never thought was wrong.
The friend said he has been putting a particular person in his prayers & as a sinner, he pray God to answer his humble prayer as a sinner. I answered that "it is wrong to always start prayer by saying that we are all sinners, quoting Rms 3:23, or assuming that one is always a sinner. The identity of "sinners" is what Christ by his grace stripped off from us. That he called us from the state of sinfulness to righteousness. That assuming oneself as yet a sinner, means taking back the stripped garment and thereby rendering worthless the work of grace in us. At any particular point in time when one examines himself and sees that his heart is pure and he is is in union with Christ, the person is by spiritual standard righteous. However, his righteousness is not his own making or by his strength lest he boasts of it, rather, it's by God's grace, and so, one has to assume the position grace places him, instead of going back to the place grace pulled him from, but shall not brag about being righteous."
The truth is that I start all my prayers by acknowledging that I am a sinner likewise many others, and now I am a bit confused. What i told the guy was me talking to me & it happens to me all the time. I just want to know the veracity of this position. So please, I need you guys to throw more light on this and guide a brother.

brother it is wrong for us to keep referring to ourselves as sinners wen we know we are called to b saints. Try reading the epistles of paul d apostles. At d begining of most of d epistles, he usually regard d church he is writing to as saints e.g to d saint at ephesus. It isnt humility wen we call ourselves names God doesnt call us. Whoever Jesus sets free is free indeed and dats y we must flee all appearance of evil.

truth is, in as much as we are saints because the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all our sins, and God sees us as he sees a Jesus because we wear the righteounsess of Jesus, coming to God and telling him you are a sinner isnt wrong , but not necessary to be said.

1.Its a tricky proposition because the truth is we all are sinners....1 John 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive our selves ... (THAT HAVE BEEN WASHED IN THE BLOOD). So God sees as as saints not sinners.

2. there is a big difference between a sinner that sins and a believer that sins. 1st john 5:18 We know that God's children do not make a practice of sinning............ The blood of Jesus christ cleanses us from all our sins

so always coming to God when we sin and calling our selves a sinner and trying to form humility to God so he can forgive us, we just end up lowering our self esteem before him. HOWEVER IF YOU READ PS 51, YOU'LL SEE THE THINGS DAVID SAID AFTER HE HAD SLEPT WITH ANOTHER MAN'S WIFE. yet then they old testament believers didnt have the blood of Jesus to speak for them continually. I'm around sis. I was peeping through the window, waiting for my seniors to drop some spiritual delicacies.
Brethren, I need a little guide on this issue. Something happened yesterday that I saw myself reprimanding a frnd of something I was equally guilty of & never thought was wrong.
The friend said he has been putting a particular person in his prayers & as a sinner, he pray God to answer his humble prayer as a sinner. I answered that "it is wrong to always start prayer by saying that we are all sinners, quoting Rms 3:23, or assuming that one is always a sinner. The identity of "sinners" is what Christ by his grace stripped off from us. That he called us from the state of sinfulness to righteousness. That assuming oneself as yet a sinner, means taking back the stripped garment and thereby rendering worthless the work of grace in us. At any particular point in time when one examines himself and sees that his heart is pure and he is is in union with Christ, the person is by spiritual standard righteous. However, his righteousness is not his own making or by his strength lest he boasts of it, rather, it's by God's grace, and so, one has to assume the position grace places him, instead of going back to the place grace pulled him from, but shall not brag about being righteous."
The truth is that I start all my prayers by acknowledging that I am a sinner likewise many others, and now I am a bit confused. What i told the guy was me talking to me & it happens to me all the time. I just want to know the veracity of this position. So please, I need you guys to throw more light on this and guide a brother.

"As a sinner", he prays that God will answer his humble prayer as "A Sinner". Hmmmm. First off, the prayer of "A Sinner" is an abomination to God. So if he is a sinner, he can not intercede for his friend. because, to stand in and fight for someone, you must of necessity be stronger than the other. If his friend is a Sinner, him a Sinner, who shd pray for who then?

Consciousness. Mindset. Understanding of who Christ is, first before understanding who we are in Christ is and what he did on the cross is very vital.
Christ has died, resurrected, the Ransom that tagged us as Sinners paid for. Now we are saint no longer sinners.
Apst Paul says, Christ's has laid a foundation; the foundation of righteousness. We who believe in Him, climbs and start building on it. What are we building? Are you a sinner? Your sins have been forgiven thee, go and sin no more. Are you are a liar, lie no more. Are you a thief? Steal no more. This is what we build.

"Sinner"is a label. A customized trademark Satan put on us before now. It's much more than committing sin. It's a nature. Christ removed it, and gave us a new nature. compare it to the righteousness which was imputed unto Abraham. He did nothing to deserve it, but he got it, just by believing God.

Satan wants us to remain with the mindset that because u fall into sin, are a sinner, No.
When you fall into sin, remember you have an advocate with God who is Christ, ask for forgiveness quickly and keep walking.

1John 2:1 little Children, I write unto you, that you sin not, but in case, peradventure you fall into sin, Remember you have an advocate with the father, Christ Jesus the righteous.

What the above scripture is saying is that, be watchful of the tactics of Satan, the ploy, the schemes and snares Satan will definitely put on your way to cause you to fall. Make sure you don't fall, BUT, 'If' you fall. There are two things that could happen.
1. You so enjoy the sin and remain in it,
2. You feel so guilty and worthless that you feel your sin is beyond pardon.
No sin is beyond pardon.
In case you sin, DONT LINGER, get up, repent and return home.
A sinner is hopeless, he has no advocate with the father, we do.

Wen u go before the father in prayer, genuinely repent of your sins, say father, am sorry for THE sin I committed; cleanse me from the stain that accompanies it, free me from its consequences, I recieve Grace and victory over it, In Jesus' Name. Thank you for your righteousness. Amen.

Not, forgive me father for i am a worthless and hopeless sinner. No. That, he has already taken care of.

Does it mean it is right to acknowledge being a sinner while praying?

it isn't wrong when one accepts to have lived a life of sin. but don't condemn yourself or think yourself unworthy to come before God, that's what the devil wants, he wants us to live in pity but that issue was settled by Jesus on the cross of calvary about 2000years ago.
we need the mercy of God on daily basis ('... the are new every morning...').
