What's standard Chartered requirement? Account opening? Do I have to maintain the account for awhile?

No requirement. Just walk in and open. The only thing is that you need referees even common savings account

Hello house, arrived US last week and is presently at El Paso. Was able to get 2k PTA from FCMB with an application of form A to pay my medical bills underway. It's been two weeks now and it hasn't pulled through yet. Meanwhile, FCMB are charging me black market rate on my debit card plus a #240 fee charge. Advices needed.

So quick update to the house.
Flew BA to Houston on the 12th of April @34 weeks.transit in heathrow.d flight to Houston was loooooong.

Fit to fly was only asked for at MMA.
Fast forward to POE.
The queue was long...when it finally got to our turn (myself, hubby and son)
Cbp: good afternoon...with a smile to my son. Such a handsome boy
What brings u to Houston?
Hubby:vacation and the birth of our second baby
Cbp: looks at my son , but u didn't have ur first here why having the second one?
Me : for better health care because my first delivery was traumatic
Cbp : oh sorry to hear that...but he looks okay
Me : yes he's okay but didn't wanna repeat the experience
Cbp: ok u have money with u?
Me: yes I have $9k do u want to count? Stretching the money to her
Cbp: no that's ok.
Ur staying for how long?
Me : 10weeks
Stamps me in for 6 months.
Please note that u can't accept any form of govt aid.
Hubby n I nod. No documents were asked or checked I proceeded to agric. One yeye dog came to sniff my bag it was checked, it had my ogbono n egusi, nothing was seized though my indomie, pap, iru etc all scaled thru now going to rest. I'm totally knackered...but thanking God for the favor all the way. It's my first time n I wasn't expecting it to be so easy

I agree with LadyG.....Not to assume anything or read meanings into your comments anyway, my first question to you which is the first issue that jumped at me from your post is Why would your MIL suggest u stay 4 6months? That seems like shez saying u stay to v d baby which translates into d fact that u r probs abt 4 months gone. If that be the case, the next thing to ponder on then is how do u convince anyone not to talk of the VOs or CBPs that ur intention for going to d US in d first place was conference and not childbirth?

From my own perspective, il suggest you return to Naija and then do all that's necessary to legally return to the US to have your baby. I personally was in the US in Dec '15, 5months preggie, my purpose was vacation but was stamped in till June, could v stayed to v my baby but decided to do things the right way. Though yes it is financially back-breaking but it payed off at the end. I believe this way you would v established the fact that u weren't deceptive from the onset and this would be a positive on your future visa renewals esp if they realise that u knew u were preggie b4 leaving the US but still decided to do the right thing.

This is just an opinion and not in anyway a professional advise. I believe other more-experienced mothers on here could v other opinions.

I salute everyone here, those that have secured their visa and those who are wait for it to come. I'm happy to see more testimonies than denials. Testimonies shall be our portion all round.

Pls I have few question
- What if the consular as how did you hear about this hosp, pls what should be the answer?
- is the medical bills the same if one is expecting twins/triplet?
- Which hosp is the best in the state, public or private?
- My wife is just 12week can we start the processing now?
- The doctor's correspondence from here, should it be from a public or a private hosp?
- Is it compulsory I pay The doctor in advance to have a letter from them for better chance of securing visa?
- should I go to interview with my wife because I have been denied visa 2 times in 2010 & 2011?
- do I need to go to the embassy with insurance certificate?
Other question, I'll ask later

Thanks in anticipation

Pls I need your advice

Good morning. Congrats. We will be doing u a great disservice if we toss out answers. If truly u have been reading, you would have seen that we place a lot of premuim on research and truth telling.
Please read the ist page of this thread.a lot of your questions will be answered. If it is not, then it will give u a strong spring board for your research.
This is the key to a successful visa interview especially as u have been denied 2ice, u need to work doubly harder.
Again, feediing u answers in an interview question 'how did u hear about the hospital' is akin to what agents do.
How did YOU hear about the hospital? U tell the vo the truth.
The earlier you start the process, the better.
Naturally, with the more things u buy, the more u pay. So if you are having multiples, the hospital bill cannot be the same.
Read. Use the search button. Use google to get to specific pages faster. When you are thru, u can then ask for clarifications.
It may also help if u posted your transcript of previous refusals on the thread and on the visit visa thread

Thanks. The thing is that the girl sounded so pessimistic, she said that only school fees requests had been granted, that SC had not given any PTA over the past 4 weeks.

I will probably do that, share the risk across 2 banks...thanks

WHAT BRANCH OF standard chartered was that?...from what I hv seen most front desk officers of most banks are clueless about this pta issue...
@poster asking how old the scb acct must be.....I don't really know, am an old acct holder..
but I opened in stanbic 2wks ago just to hv a plan b,.....will apply for pta in stanbic next wk.........fingers crossed, hope they don't pull the 6months old acct isshh angry angry angry

Just thinking out loud wondering if the U.S. embassy really update ones record with that change of intent letter we normally send, because I realised some people don't even add their name and passport number for d fear of visa cancellation.. Hmmm... and why will a record be updated based on an email sent (it could be anybody sending that email). #welljustmythoughts#

As far as I know, when people send the e-mail without their details, they ask you to resend with your details so they can crosscheck.

@damidamsel thanks years she's suspecting that I might be around 3-4 months cos of the leg swelling and is suggesting that if she's right I should just stay. But I don't Want to do that because of future applications would ascertain how far gone when I see the doctor on Monday. Going back would the letter of change of intent be the only thing that I would send to the embassy. Tnx

...With faith no problem. DW went with only $4k. Other funds in Master Card. POE = Houston, she also flew to Chicago for her connecting flight.
Sent for secondary inspection, stamped in within few minutes. Just be truthful. Am paying my bill to ZERO.

better to scout for and see a doctor now. get registered. schedule appointment for when you intend to return for the birth trip.
Then come back home after this visit and go back for the birth trip later. no need for intent letter to the embassy. keep it simple.
