I do not agree to excessive beating rather, I support stern talk with beating sometimes. The beating shouldn't be out of anger as most parents do though.

How to deal wit a stubborn child....

1. Show some love
2. Talk to him/her (as many times as possible when you have to)
3. Punishment/beating (too much beating ain't advisable, bbt interval and unsuspecting slaps will do d magic)
4. Play games wit him/her (scrabble, ps, bed wrestling or any game he/she likes)
5. Overlook some of his/her behaviour at times
6. Pray

if you like continue spanking him all day,a stubborn child wouldn't change for good.

Pray for the child and engage the child in extra curricular activities. e.g A Music Band, a drama group, photography class, fashion school

From experience,I think spanking a child too often will make him more hardened. it is better to consistently advice the child,show him love,but if he's the rebellious one ground him;make him do extra chores and deprive him of those things he enjoys just to punish him.

Its very easy for people to say spank the child until her brain returns to default setting but I tell you. Continuous act of flogging will lead to a time when there will be emotional disconnect between you & that child in future. The child may grow up to always avoid your presence because he/she has grown to have the mentality - not to annoy you coz of the wrath he/she could incur.

Out of 100% of children 80% r stubborn. They r no longer scared of beatings, no regard for elderly ones. Sometimes u think dey lack home training but is not true, pear group influence has great effect on children.

Truth is that most parents have not sat down to understand their children, they just look at the outlook(stubbornness) and not what they feel. If you seat a presumed stubborn person, you'll find out that there is a psychological push just that it has not been found.
Op, what works for me is;
If it is a preteen :I'll take the person out, maybe to an eatery and then try to scrutinise the whole issue making it easier to deal with. Anything but beating works faster.

Let me also refer you to proverbs 23:13-14: "Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell."

The Child is a product of training and exposure.
The problem of children are adults.
Adults are insensitive and self centre mostly at the time they encounter the child. At night after work, early in the morning when rushing to work or when trying to maximise their time the child seems to be in the way. Adult tends to find faults in their children or wards.

All those methods don't work; it's beating that fix a child. If you look at the American children, you will notice that they are very stubborn; they lack respect, and they talk shit to their parents face. All of that is due to lack of beating. But look at our Nigerian children, they don't disrespect people anyhow. The beating has humbled them. Although beating works wonders, don't over use it because too much of everything is bad.

Engage the child with constructive play such as taekwondo, swimming, outdoor play etc. This make the child so tired that when he comes back home from school, he will sleep till the next day. Also, reduce sugary foods, this makes them hyperactive resulting in negative behaviours that result to spanking
