Great question. Truth is, nobody knows. According to the story, the Annunaki were on earth for 432,000 years. Don't forget the earth is over 40 BILLION years old. Isn't the Bible a conspiracy theory too. A book asked you to pay tithe to a god you have never seen and also worship his son,whom you have never seen. How does that make sense?

At least the Sumerians tablet appeared to have been the original of the Biblical texts,whether they were true or not. You only happened to believe the story you were taught from your childhood. The story of the Annunaki makes a lot more sense than the Bible,be it a mayth or not.
