This decision is the best PMB could have taken. Nigeria can not afford to continue paying subsidy. Nigeria is presently broke in addition to the high dollar-naira exchange rate. People condemned GEJ then because nigeria had so much during his tenure that could have built more refineries and make nigeria not to depend on imported petrol.

*singing* Things are getting better...

Let's face it as long as we keep importing fuel...heads or tail, Nigeria loses. If crude price goes up, subsidy cost goes up and FG spends more. If crude price goes down FG faces dwindling revenue since we run a mono-economy, and the ripple effects would be unpaid salaries and delayed construction projects.

Until we refine crude locally to meet the demands of the local market, the black gold will continually be a BLACK CURSE!!!

initially when i saw the news i had nothing to say but for now all i can say is HMMMMMMMM..M.. E DONE SET...
WITH THE EXCESSIVE HARDSHIP AND PAIN IN THE COUNTRY ITS ILL-TIMED TO REMOVE SUBSIDY ... THEY HAV TRIPLED THE SUFFERING OF THE PEOPLE..
the people they claim to represent... #18000. is d minimum wage set with a dollar conversion of about $120 but now its $56.25 wat dat implies that the cost of things have exprecienced about a 120% increase all based on the same 18000 minimum wage... so you already have people paying more for the same product they bought 120% cheaper a few years back... then in your wisdom to save cost of governance you remove fuel subsidy .. thus increasing the sufferings of the people.. government ought to be for the people.. by the people... and of them... what we are experiencing is a MASTER AND SLAVE RELATIONSHIP.... ITS PAINFULL
if labour do not organise occupy nigeria ahhhhh... we ar finished
APC........ ASSOCIATION OF PAINGIVING CÙÑT..
E GO BETTER...
the ball is in nlc court now

Bro in a sane country the Govt of the day would have cut cost ie reduce salary of the politicians, medge ministries. Save in clever ways. The only wage FG pay to the ordinary Man wen they do not work is subsidy.

What justification do u have for d fact that the very oil they suck from our lands is d very one we r paying premium price for?

N hey, if u ain't been following trends, go read up n stop laying blame on Gej. Go ask amaechi , osho n all d APC governors who opposed Gej as to d saving bull u just reeled

Well....if we had increased refining capacity....ages ago....we would have been buying fuel at a lesser price.

The real problem is the fact we are importing most of the refined product we consume.

It does not make sense to subsidize it.

If for 16 year's PDP is importing petroleum to run the economy, no refinery to refine locally. Today with the crash in global oil price, Nigeria will not be suffering for foreign exchange call dollar.

If GEJ had won in 2015...we would have still had to take this decision.

In a way the decision is out of our hands. So long as oil remains below 50 USD....even at 100usd....it makes no sense to subsidize.(We need oil at 123 usd to balance the books).

The real problem is we have not improved refining capacity. So...you better hope Kalichukwu's promise to build three new refineries is not DOA the way GEJ's three new greenfield refineries promised in 2010 were.

Was subsidy also responsible for d hardship the northern president put Nigerians tru in 1983?

Was it fuel selling for less than 50$ that caused that too?

This is a good one considering the huge amount of money, govt is spending. But my question is what isd plan of d govt on this subsidy money. at least during jonathans time we had programmes like you win, sure p and so on.

The Federal Government, Wednesday, removed subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit, also known as fuel as it will now sell for N145 per litre.

Details later…

Not bad. Here in the USA we buy it at 200# per liter. You guys are enjoying in Nigeria you don't know what u have.

Sorry, no comparison when GEJ tried it he was presiding over a wasteful corrupt govt; with surplus earnings from crude oil at over 150 dollars/barrel; compared with present earnings at around 40 dollars/barrel,which is approx 1/4 previous earnings; you will begin to see reasons why Buhari has no alternative than to remove subsidy - at least now we will begin to see petrol to buy.
Re: Fuel Subsidy Removed Officially By FG by Rexyl(m): 6:27pm On May 11, 2016
At last after deceiving us that they can't do that. What now makes a difference between the last and present administrations? Same bloody liars. This government has given us so much suffering. Nothing is working...The body giving Electricity has become a den of fraud! It's darkness we are paying for for the past 6 months. Food items are so expensive that most families hardly eat once daily. All things are much costly and there is no money in circulation.

What are we enjoying so far?... Many are dying of suffering, poverty, failed system and more. Government of rejected PDP wasn't as though as this!
