I always sense that there's something wrong with that church. As a Roman Catholic faithful I know a little about Anglican doctrines and their liturgical calender, that of this church is always different. The theme of their programmes always sound some far off from the other orthodoxes churches

Glad this Church is finally sealed off at least for the time being. I have queried why this action has not been taken long ago. I fail to understand how some group of people in the church would be bigger than the whole diocese.

I remember a case that a church member wanted his child baptized. Members of this clique fought the church member, fought the priest and people who came for the baptism and there reason was that they do not believe in infant baptism. I was pissed off. It wasn't there child that was being baptized. The father of the Child believes in infant Baptism and so wanted it for his child yet these set of people were ready to fight to stop another person's belief in the process of enforcing theirs. A set of people who call themselves Christians but all they do is fight, sow discord and lead their congregation to disobedience and they still believe in their minds that they are worshiping God? People with reprobate minds.

Anglicans believe in infant baptism. Even Bible said Peter Baptized Cornelius and all his household. If you disagree with the Anglican doctrine, get yourself out of the church and start your own church and call it whatever you like.

If these people did this to Ven. Adubasim who is the meekest of Venerables I know, I guess God has vindicated many other Pastors that were sent there and had these same issues.

Everything that now happens within the Christian circle is now attributed to muslims.
Mr man the closure was ordered by a superior priest or so. You can't take away Christianity from politics.

It was actually ordered by the Board of Trustees of the Diocese, ostensibly to thwart the moves by the clique that are causing trouble in the Church.

The Christian Church came into being on the first Pentecost, ever, in the City of Jerusalem. Two thousand and sixteen years thereafter, a church closed rather than opened in the City of Port Harcourt. The Christian church today is full of rogues and frauds.

Read the story very well. The church was closed down by its general leader the diocesan himself. It is not about rogues and frauds. It has to do with doctrine. They did not accept the Anglican doctrine, yet they answer Anglican church. Don't ever refer to the Holy Church like that. Jesus Christ is not your mate

There is nothing wrong with the Anglican Church in Nigeria. They did not accept the doctrine, and the priest so the parish was closed down. It will still be opened when they feel like peace has been restored. Its just one parish. I would have talked about similar conflicts in the Catholic church around us, but I don't want these Muslims to display their unintelligibility here around the Christian church. So let the Church be one. Stop the hating. Unity is what we need more now.

Nobody in his right senses practices Islam. Islam is a breeding ground for terrorists and paedophiles. Your Muhammad committed all manner of atrocities, yet you guys worship him. Even your Koran is a product of unintelligible reasoning. A religion that supports the killing of the innocent in the name of Jihad. You should be ashamed of being a Muslim. All your countries are centers of Chaos and terrorism. Gosh! Anyway I feel for you. Your parents introduced you into it, and you are so stuck into it that you cannot get out again. It beclouds your sense of judgement and reasoning. You guys failed to the extent that Syrian refugees migrate to the west instead of the Muslim countries around them

Why seal the church because of a cabal in the church? Have them excommunicated!
Except they are the unknown cabal just like in the Nigerian oil industry.
Nigeria is fantastically a cabalocracy grin

I can't believe it that my church is on the news for the first time but for the wrong reasons. Let me give you a snippet of what the controversy is all about. St. Matthew's is a self sustaining church which has over the years been the backbone of Anglican revival. Those of you who know the Anglican Church very well will understand some certain restrictions that was placed on some fire-brand Christian activities which was considered unAnglican. St Matthew played a huge role in turning things around and today, St. Matthew stands out in the diocese. One of the aim of the church is rural evangelism as well as Anglican revival. We've planted churches in many communities all around SS and SE part of the country. Now comes in the diocese under the Bishop, thinking that we're taking things to the extreme, or rather that St. Matthew is beginning to act as an independent church because (according to them), we're working against the Anglican doctrines going into mission and promoting the church without involving the diocese, while this has been our tradition for 28 years of our existence. Then they removed the rector and brought in this Venerable Adubasim who has been working as an agent of the diocese, upsetting the tradition on which the church was built which is evangelism. That's one thing we would never accept, hence we continued our missions with or without his authorization or that of the diocese, and that is the reason for this brouhaha. The story of the Archdeacon being harassed is so untrue.

There are always many sides to a story, in truth St Matthews was a role model for many others in the Anglican Community in the Niger Delta. Their music and children ministry were quite vibrant but in the end so many things fell apart according to some people. They can hand over those buildings to WIKE so that he can turn it into a secondary school to retain the name and memory of St Matthews.

My Brother in the Lord,

I really appreciate you coming out to clear some bit of the air about what happened

BUT

1. No Church Leader will ever (I repeat) will ever allow a church to go ROGUE against the laid down traditions.

2. I might not know how it is been practiced in The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) but from my Roman Catholic Background, any church they feel that it is growing more balls than even the Deanery, will be "clipped". In other words, you do according to the laid down doctrines of the church. (I remember vividly Rev. Fr. E. A. Owoeye he prays like the Charismatics but was sabotaged by other Priests) Even in Winners where I am presently, you will be given "love letter" acting beyond what the laid down procedures and rules

3. Some people in your church would have capitalized on the free goodwill the Church had been enjoying and turned themselves to POWER BROKERS (I suggest you please contact Dr. Francis Akin Bola - John for his movie "POWER BROKERS IN THE CHURCH" and watch) or rather click on this Youtube link

In this case, the battle is between the church and the diocese. What else do you call someone who tries to upset the basis on which the church was built to do the bidding of a few diocesan cabals? There are many things done at the back stage that I'm not going to reveal because it's not suitable for public consumption. Nobody but the devil is fighting the church.
