There is a popular saying that " small thing wey u look throwaway face na im dey bring man down" PRICE CONTROL POLICY, that word govt has never taken serious not even for once. Certain foodstuff are suppose to have fixed price in this country, those are things govt is suppose to subsidize and not petroleum just to enrich certain individual.

What a display of congenital and willful idiocy.. Same neo-liberal policies are what GMB is embracing.-i.e.removal of subsidy; increasing VAT and making Naira to be at parity with $ in the parallel market! Zombies like u guys have been scammed; IMF always wins and it has won so far!!!

What are they subsidising?
Mansions in Beverley Hills and St Tropez
Private jets in Abuja.
Million pound shopping trips in Harrods.
Nigeria stopped subsidising the masses in 2010( the day Jonathan got onto power.
Heavy taxation is part and parcel of socialist democracies like Sweden, Norway and Finland. Those are the countries that Nigeria should aspire to become. Not a neo liberal oligarchic state like America where over 60 million children go to bed hungry.

I think the Government should loosen a bit on the Dollar control thing. At most Dollar will go for 500 or 600 Naira but it will be free from Government regulation.

guess you are saying it will reposition the poor man's thinking capacity.

well, as it is. there's no poor man in govt. so i dont see how hunger is going to change a thing.

The destiny of the Nigerian economy was already in crisis the day Obasanjo handed the keys over to Yar adua and Jonathan.
Put a trend line on a chart and you will see the long term downward trajectory.
Even when the Naira was exchanging for N114 to the dollars, it was an illusion of wealth and the forex that should have been accumulating was being stolen or frittered away on luxuries and bad governance.
The mindless stealing started when yaradua was still lying in coma on his death bed.Turai and her gang were busy looting the budget. But Jonathan put it on nitro. Most states were incapable of paying for Jonathan's increase in minimum wage when oil was selling for N120 / barrel, how do you expect them to cope when oil has averaged $35 /barrel in the last year.
The devil has come to collect his debt.
That goldman sach guy deceived them with BRICS.abi Na Nigeria Rising cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy.
Na MINT
Una suffering Don dey MINTed

Nigeria Rising wey no fit construct him substandard roads.

The smart money shorted Nigeria and divested their positions(money) as early as January 2012 at the height of their delusion and high oil prices driven drunken madness.
Do not worry. The IMF is coming to lend you money. Only that their real mission is to bail out the western investors whose capital were trapped by Buhari's forex restrictions.

Your above story does not tally with the facts on ground.

It is right here since we voted the "expired" leader into power at the federal level.
His track record speaks volume of the FAILURE foretold.
How anyone expected a man who never increased his number of cows from 150 for several decades to lead Africa's biggest economy is a mystery, not so

I can visualize the coming disaster, a country of almost 200 million people that produces next to nothing! Low oil price, drastically reduced output/export of crude oil, very poor power supply, innept & clueless goverment, hyper inflation, insecurity, civil strife, very poor infrastructure, mass unemployment, scarcity of forex, scarce & expensive fuel & many other woes!! HOW THE HELL DID I GET TRAPPED IN THIS GODFORSAKEN COUNTRY??

it is better to face the reality now. things are going to get worse before it gets better.it all depends on Nigerian consumers. let us turn inward buy Nigerian products. if we do this, there will be jobs created, more products available, less kidnaping, less intertribal conflicts, less dependent on foreign currency. we should open our eyes and stop this blaming games.

Buhari's policy so far has bin catastrophic and heart breaking even to his ardent followers, just due to pride, they won't voice out.
No tangible thing has bin achieved since he came to power. Nothing positive has come out and it's rather a pity.

This govt needs to explain to Nigerians what they've done with d 30b dollars foreign reserve they inherited.
They should explain what they've done with funds through TSA
What have they done with funds from sale of fuel to Nigerians at exorbitant prices
We are experiencing d most inefficient govt in d history of Nigeria, just hope Nigeria is not completely destroyed by their inefficiency

Sai Buhari!!!

My hope is that this government continues till 2023.

Perhaps when the economy is crushed and battered our great grandchildren will read from history and refrain from repeating the same monumental mistake that Nigerians made in March, 2015.

Just maybe.

Sai Buhari!!!

The man has been basically fire-fighting since he got in power.
Their criticism is based on ideological ground. Neo Liberal capitalism which controls societies worldwide. They are doing their thing in Brazil as we speak and going as far as organising what is essentially a coup.
Probably only 5 of those billionaires in Nigeria are involved in any activity that is socially useful.
The country can do without all those oil barons.in fact almost all of them are simply collecting rents ( rent seekers)
Give me your prescription to solve the problem.
Foreign airlines alone are waiting to remove 500 millions dollars from the Nigerian economy since you do not build anything ( good or services) of any significance.
I am wondering how much all the Syrians, Lebaneses,Egyptians etc to whom road and other contracts are awarded, are waiting to remove.
Allowing the naira to float would have sent the economy into an instant death spiral and push ten of millions into poverty overnight . We all saw what happened Last week with the rumour of devaluation alone.
The answers are simple as it is common sense.
The Nigerian music industry.

1 Live within your means ( government and people).
2 increase inflows and reduce outflows.
3 Protect your market.
4 Build, make and invent all you can yourself. Learn from the mistakes to improve your product. Steal or borrow technology if you have to.
Case study
The modern Nigerian music industry started by copying. Then it evolved into conquering the local markets and Africa. It is now conquering( not dominating) the global market.
The likes of Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye ( patriots) chose to use their platform to monopolise the air waves and forced Nigerians to listen to made in Nigeria music.
Nowadays, those plantashun Boyz and Tony tequila music will be regarded as trash.
Anyone who tells you that you can import your way, or build hotels your way to prosperity is only. deceiving you.
The greatest achievement of China's great leap forward was changing the mentality of their people.

So what policies has PMB's govt put in place to encourage more exports, and with regards to diversifying the economy? As far as we know, he's simply not doing anything. So far he's been reactive rather than proactive. If we had devalued as far as last September, things would have stabilized. Devaluing now would only make things worse as inflation has set in already. What stops the parallel market from moving up further if devaluation sets in since PMS importers would have to go to secondary sources for FX? PMB simply needs to rejig his economic team/ministers and bring in experts that can steer Nigeria into safe waters.

This is really bad news, I wonder why Nigerians are just quiet, a great havoc is being done to the economy to the detriment of our future and people who are supposed to be talking are keeping quiet for fear of being arrested by EFCC or DSS. I advise that buhari should be impeached ASAP and I don't mind if the next president comes from daura. Buhari is unexposed and simply not sound to manage an entity like Nigeria.
