Most people here don't know the meaning of allergy , rather they are stating foods they don't like..

I don't know if I have any food allergies but I only eat a select kind of food. The only thing I'm allergic to is a drug and that's quinine.
I do know a friend who is allergic to samusa. I had never eaten samusa, but the day I saw what samusa did to him, I swore that I would never eat samusa.....and it is so till this day.

Really? That is how someone will die from anaphylactic reactions caused by food allergy and we would just conclude that it is the will of God without even bothering to find out what caused it.

I can bet that many Africans have lost their lives due to food allergies without knowing it
Our problem is that we don't document a lot of things.
Document that will be last thing. It difficult to document when we you are eating is not even what makes you happy nor what you actually wanted, with the little change left you look for quantity that will satisfy not taking a good look at the nutritional value or danger such could do to your health. The last time i heard of allergy was in the movies.May be its a disease for the AJEBUTTERS

Really? Almighty beans was my staple food during my era of 'owu' ~ days of poverty. Beans with garri, and beans with agege bread saw me through those hard times. To the question posited: As far as I know, I'm not allergic to any food.

People from other continents often come down with mild to severe allergic reactions to certain foods. Do Africans/Nigerians have such allergic reactions to foods? I don't know anyone who is allergic to any food among my relatives. In my opinion, I think it is rare. Do you have any food allergies?

I know some Nigerians allergic to see foods, some allergic to strawberry.

We technically have no food allergies, because our ancestors has already done the testings for us,which layed out the rules and foods/things that we are forbidden to eat/do.

So they replaced the word allergy with forbidden,I however think that their system is a bit wrong because everyone in a whole town can't be allergic to the same thing.

What am I even saying?am still sleepy,it's my holiday,I better go back to bed.

Yeah i may v but vnt found out what rili caused the rxn.

After eating that equsi night, prepared by one of my hostel mate, na so small heat do me, i wake go buy pure water to down the stuff.. After some time my body start to they itch me, i couldn't sleep that night, to cut the long story short, i spend 5days b4 i could get myself. It was traveling from one location to another, from my upper hand down to my palm, from my thigh down to my foot, at any location it was, that part swallows and inches and rises above other part of my body. It start Thursday night up to Monday morning, On Sunday i had to be flinging my hands because my palms were itching me. That was the last phase. Well this rxn was more than the normal ones i do v, usually wen i sweat, that's the only thing i know abt it and i dear not allow water to touch me that moment cos it will cause that part to be rigid and my body swells. This started late 2012 wen i was playing football, and it only last 1hour if i find a cool place to stay, but that one that happen after eating that equsi soup was from another planet, 5 f*cking days! I tot dead was the next thing. The worst is the doctors will tell u it just a rxn, there is no medicine for it, just smth to ease the pain. Chai! See the small tiny drug sef... Well if u are a doc and u just read my long episode of body Reaction and u observe something pls let me know.. Well dis year i can sai i vnt experience it, cos i v master it and know wen its coming and i do a fast one on it by finding some where cool, take off my cloths, sleep, by 30mins it would v gone down den i can go tk my bath. Till now all i only know is wen i sweat, which is not always cause i do sweat. There must be smth else wic i neva find out what it could be, causing the RXN.

If u see me the first tym u go faint. When it happen i dashed home entered the bath room started bathing thinking the itching will go, omo i com look myself for mirror, guys i could not blive i was the person in that mirror. It was horror movie for me.. My eyes almost go shut because my face don swell lyk sai dem pump am air. Had to rub red oil all over.
